Zenyatta can be alright but he needs a buff. Getting 1 clip by Tracer and one shotted by Widowmaker's body shots is really bad. Zenyatta needs a buff.
That said, I love to play him when enemy team doesn't have a Widow or we have a Reinhardt. I recommend playing Zen in thoses cases where your team has communication because putting discord on a flanker from afar then seeing where they are going through walls (then telling your team) is amazing.
Last thing. Zenyatta as the only support can be really bad if you can't communicate with your team. Consider taking him with a Mercy or Lucio. Also know the maps and know where its safe to peek.
