I am dick with the sniper in every game I've played and as a frequent Zen and Pharah player I loathe Widow with a passion but I also figure in a game like this even if she gets nerfed it's important to at least have an idea of how to play her

Originally her shotguns did actual damage, but instead of a mobile tank who could take a few hits, people were playing her as an invincible flying assassin because you could fly in the middle of a team, kill any single hero you wanted, throw up your shield and fly away and nobody could do anything. They nerfed her damage so she couldn't just become a one-woman murder machine but she kept all her mobility so she's still useful in the right hands.
You can still do the whole "flying assassin" thing in pubs, often a team won't know what to do if you just fly right in the middle of them and start blasting their Mercy. It won't work as well in higher levels but you can get away with a lot of bullshit if you suspect the other team is bad.
