What are some min-maxed division compositions? In HoI3 I always tried for the 5 battalion research and then usually had 3-4 inf and 1 art, but I don't understand the new format at all, and I think what is optimal depends on which of the strategy things you pick.

Whenever my divisions come out, even when I assign them to a front, for some reason they just stand there and say they don't have orders. The only way I've figured out how to fix this is by just completely remaking the frontline/offensive line after they're in it, but it's getting annoying remaking the orders just for one unit. Mechanics as a whole feel more refined than HOI3
Production system much more interesting than dealing with IC bars and keeps you more engaged in the prewar periods as you figure what you want excess of for the war
Extending on the above - Factory system is nice and having to choose between more old light tanks VS less new heavy tanks makes for some very interesting situations. Also updating old equipment with variants is extremely cool imo

The big one for me though, is the fact that the AI can handle the game going off the rails. I personally am a big fan of the ahistorical game - no more AI breaking diplomacy moves such as HOI3, and no more having diplomacy be something that is mainly event centric, such as DH/HOI3. As a whole it feels much more dynamic and is much more engaging (too me at least).

Paradox has paid shills in these threads. Their main tactic right now is to present HoI4 as 'cool' and 'improved' while displaying older Hearts of Iron games such as HoI3 and DH as 'archaic' and 'shitty'.
Basically, they're shitting on the old and trying to push the new so that it becomes the mainstay in /gsg/. This is what happened with EU3 being tossed to the side and EU4 being the new 'go-to' EU game despite it's inherent inferiority to it's predecessor.

I've played around for a few hours now and it's becoming really clear that absolutely no one bothered testing this game at all.
The main problem is the political "system", which completely falls apart like a meringue left out in the sun. It is incredibly buggy and quickly leads to ridiculous or broken situations.
For example, turning the UK fascist enables cheese like spamming the "support party" option on the Netherlands/Belgium so you can take the Benelux intervention national focus and get a free CB. This obviously wasn't intended and makes no sense in the context of the national focus but it isn't difficult to do at all.
It also causes every one of your vassals to drop out of your faction, but because you are still technically head of the Allies you cannot join other Axis powers and you *still* get Allied events, while (now) friendly powers like Japan or Italy that aren't aligned yet can be brought to the Allies.
How in the world did no one say anything about this until now? Were streamers even actually playing the game? Was everyone just comatose before this was released?

That's actually impossible from a technical standpoint. You can only give WHOLE states to other countries. Northern Dobruja is part of the Muntenia state.
