Guys, why the fuck does the AI do this?
3 god damn full armies standing right next to my settlement, and this halph dead dipshit comes up and besieges it.

I thought the AI is intelligent ffs.

TWW btw.

Vamps are so fucking annoying to play

Almost every settlement you capture has trade goods with low income just from the building
But nobody wants to trade with you (all the trading nations in the game being people you have to conquer/eliminate), whenever you do get a trade going the empire immediately declares war on your trading partner
And you can't sack shit like gobbos because of attrition

It's like playing Attila as the Jews but with worse relations and less settlement building to keep you occupied as you wait for corruption to spread

The inability for Greenskins to trade doesn't make their playthrough any harder but it makes Vamps a fuckload more annoying to play

Why does the AI give you quests to raise another army when you don't have the income to support it?

Wouldn't that ruin the games of new players who don't know any better?

I play on ultra but playing the game with different unit sizes is actually really fun and adds variation. If you like to use magic then play on small or medium unit sizes where they have much bigger impact.

On small, Mannfred's Spirit Leech one-shots Lords which is kinda funny.

>>
>>144633171
Using historical tactics in Total War is always so much fun, even if it's rarely as effective as hammer and anvil. I liked to use Epirot Maniples in Rome 2 a lot just because they're so stable and easy to micro despite taking slightly larger pike casualties.
>>
>>144632691
In the lore, they don't have them because they wouldn't really do anything with them. They live in mountains, the only reason they made gyrocopters is because they are useful for scouting between peaks. You could argue the tanks would be useful in the underways, but a stationary cannon does the same thing just as well.

Dwarfs have giant metal battle ships and a Zeppelin that has bombs and 5 organ guns, they have the technology to put a steam engine on a god damn cart then surround it with metal.

Then there is the giant ass Zeppelin that the Dwarfs and Nuln work on together than can stay airborne forever.
>>
>>144634584
>implying that was ever the point of quests

Quests started as a way to simulate the way warlords have to play politics and favors with the political class even if it required making strategically unsound decisions. They're supposed to risk ruining your game for a few shiny units and money.

To settle grudges, most of the time you have to go through an extremely lengthy courtroom process, which can take months, years, even decades to actually happen or get an outcome.
By that time, most people have forgotten what the grudge even was, however trivial, but a grudge still stands so they will pursue.

>When Archaon finally completed his centuries long odyssey throughout the dark places of the world and was crowned Lord of the End Times, he immediately began work to add the remaining Northern tribes who had not yet pledged themselves to his apocalyptic banner to his vast armies.

>Within a short time, he had succeeded in bringing every last tribe, clan or warrior-band that had ever vied for control of the tainted Northlands under his iron-fisted rule. Bloodthirsty Aeslings and barbaric Baersonlings, wily Skaelings and sea-faring Sarls, twisted Vargs, savage Graelings and berserker Bjornlings and a thousand other hard-hearted Norse tribes aside, all did answer the Everchosen's call.

Threadly reminder that true Everchosens of the gods unite all of norsca before ravaging the world.

>>
>>144636826
Y'know, why couldn't Norsca be a bunch of divided Norscan tribes instead of the fuckhueg Varg and Skaeling monstrousities with maxed-out ports?

If they were split into the Baersonlings, Aeslings, Sarls etc. we wouldn't have to deal with so many doomstacks until Archie spawns at turn 50.

It also incentivizes actually going into Norsca as Chaos, instead of ignoring them and fucking up Kislev ASAP, since that way you can grab more allies or at least reduce it to a manageable number of vassals.
>>
I just take a look at End Times and my mind full of fuck. Why they destroyed world, i mean writers? So no longer Warhammer Fantasy? Also who attacks who on end of times? Its like current syrian situation.

Vamps but I'm getting bored

Corruption just means that I really can't fight that many battles in a row before having to either heal off attrition or sit my lord in a province whilst it corrupts

Biggest problem is that their agents key use is spreading corruption, but if you do that then they level up really slow

What are some things you lads hope they add in, mechanically, for the next historical game? I'd like to be able to control policy more finely, like sliders and events for slavery and immigration to further the theme they've been building in Rome 2 and Attila of choosing between money or a stable society. You can take in immigrants for more money, but they decrease your cultural influence. For slaves, they lower your upkeep but cause unrest and a random chance of revolt.
>>
Does anyone here know if the Bright Wizard's map-wide flame-weakness debuff stacks? I'd like to try having a couple in my army to see if I can somehow make magic deal some fucking damage on ultra.
>>
>>144637064
That'd be a lot better than the shit we're dealing with now. I'm hoping either norsca gets broken up further with new factions, or someone just mods the tribes' start at some point.
>>
>>144637339
How about I don't know...better battles? Y know, what this shit is made for
>>
>>144637339
A complete overhaul of how city/province management works. No more limited building slots that do basically nothing. More options, more variety, more problems and/or problem solving.

Basically, the opposite of what it is now.
>>
>>144637163
Are they at least divided according to the lore? There's lower Norscans and upper Norscans, think Danes and Swedes/Norsemen, so Varg should run the southern regions and Skaelings run the north.
>>
>>144637339
I think they should make a push for much larger armies than we see right now so that historical tactics are a bit more applicable and useful, since it's so easy to flank small armies.
>>
>>144637531
in the game it's more like skaelings control the west and varg rule the east.
>>
>>144637531
No in lore there's a bunch of tribes all split up and regularly Fucking with each other
>>
>>144637402
Nothing stacks, ever. You can easily see this by having multiple casters with Arcane Conduit and similar buffs.
>>
>>144637150
Games Workshop in their eternal wisdom nuked fantasy so they could simplify the rules to attract new players.

A blunder because TW: Warhammer has actually made me more interested in the fantasy setting than I ever was before. But I have no interest in Age of Sigmar.
>>
>>144637498
Better in what way?

>>144637526
I'd like that if they kept squalor to keep things in some sort of check. It's definitely frustrating when you have some places overflowing with sanitation that can't take any more and some constantly courting disease with open spaces.
>>
>>144637248
Wasn't Rally point a dev blog...........?
>>
>>144635869
I always like to deploy roman troops as they did historically, just without the checkerboard thing they've got going on. Nice challenge to prevent an attack devolving into complete chaos. Likewise when you get the marian legionaries I switch again. Wish the AI could handle pike and shot tactics so we could get a 17th century total war or something.
>>
>>144637816

I mean, it's a video, so it's not a blog.
>>
>>144637747
Right, but more generally they can be split into lower and upper Norscans. Lower Norscans are interested in commerce and industry along with viking, and upper Norscans are purely into violence for its own sake. It'd avoid itching my autism if they had something like the Varg beating all the other southern tribes into submission and Skaeling doing the same in the north.
>>
>>144637805
With more building slots, you'd get more options to expand and keep things in order. And don't be completely stupid about it like it was in Rome 2 where nearly every tier 2+ building added squalor.

Taking it back to Medieval 2/Rome 1's building style would be really helpful for a start.
>>
>>144636939
>hey literally have a grudge to destroy a mountain just because they were a bit butthurt
kek, please elaborate
>>
>>144637853
autism
>>
>>144637747
Precisely why I think more tribes would be better. They'd all be squabbling early game, until turn 50 comes around and Archie spawns in the northeast corner. Then they'd suddenly break off their wars and grab military alliances within 5 turns, and then start invading the south in earnest.

In contrast, if you start as Chaos, this would incentivize you to go in, beat a few heads in and help a couple of tribes to primacy, recreating the Varg/Skaeling monstrousity we know and love in the current game.
>>
>>144637805
More units per army, larger unit sizes, better ai formations and tactics
>>
Do any of the Rome II culture packs actually offer some different gameplay/units? I feel like with Warhammer it'll be fairly easy for them to provide something different, but Rome II always seem to lead to more spears in a different colour.
>>
>>144638230
Spearlines with some swords is pretty much what warfare was in Europe for like over 1000 years.
>>
>>144638012
Yeah, I definitely agree maximum freedom is best as long as there is some sort of challenge to it. I actually prefer the province-building in modern games just because it got so boring in Rome 1 and Medieval 2, always taking everything you can and constantly pumping money into it without any thought, it got tedious.

Click on the quest battle, and at the bottom right corner it should have the option to teleport for like 5000 money.
>>
>>144638346
There's a button on the bottom right of the quest battle preview that lets you teleport there temporarily for payment, and teleports you back to where you were when you finish the battle

Shit's so convenient I wish I knew about it earlier
>>
>>144638298
So you keep the restrictions that Medieval 2 had with the Fort vs city. But have it as Capital and towns. Capitals can make more expensive luxury buildings, merchant areas and other guild housing stuff. While towns make the farms, husbandry and such like. Just on a far more grand scale. Rome 2 had it right to a degree, limiting certain building choices. But the building slots were just far too limited to make use of them, forcing you to make dedicated areas for singular uses.
>>
>>144637829
Checkerboarding works, but it relies on the player having the discipline to just hold still instead of countercharging. Normally you'd want to do this, but the Roman troop stats are just so blatantly superior to anyone else's infantry that countercharging and breaking into their formations is usually better because your guys will kill faster than they will. And you can just replenish losses on campaign, whereas the real generals had to curb their losses as much as possible.
>>
>>144638012
Honestly I hated Med2/Rome1's buildings. I built the exact same thing in the exact same order everywhere. At that point it would have been better to just tie buildings to growth. My personal favorite system was the towns in Empire. It made me actually want to defend my territory rather than just my cities.

alright lads so the mod which makes Mousillon only skin is almost done, I just need to make sure all the lords/heros have their custom skins unique to the faction.
which is where I have run into a problem, due to sleep depravity I had it working then proceeded to destroy the entries and I have no idea how to re-implement

so I'm still pushing for a release, BUT if somone can point me in the right direction I'd be eternally grapefruit, and possibly be able to release the mousillon version tonight if i grind it out/nothing else goes wrong.

I dunno what you speak of. Wraiths are excellent for taking and holding walls, because of their AP damage and how long it takes to kill them with conventional units.

They're also useful for flanking and holding down especially tough units like lords or Greatswords or Chosen.

Not crumbling, they were just flat out losing to basic dwarf units even with a numbers advantage, as far as I'm aware Dwarf units don't use magic based weapons, do they?

>>144639684
Ethereal is 75% physical resistance, not 100%, and wraiths have a bit more than 3000 hp on ultra unit sizes, so they still end up dying relatively quickly to other units due to their comparatively low HP.

Yeah, I like that. One other idea I have to impose limits is to have a sort of tech tree where you must choose if you will build a province as if it is on the frontier, focusing on stability, food, and military; or an interior territory, focusing on commerce, industry, and culture. So there is the city vs. town tree and the frontier versus interior.

The Brettonnian school of thinking is "Cavalry, more cavalry, and a shit ton more cavalry. If that doesn't work, more cavalry."
So that doesn't translate well to siege defense/offense when their infantry is piss poor peasants. They need to add the dismount option back into the game.

>>
>>144641308
That's actually the best way to do siege defense as Bretonnia. Line your peasants on the walls so you control all the towers to fire and sally forth with your Knights of the Realm.
>>
>>144641130
Well for offense, you could use your peasants as bait so the enemy puts alot of infantry on the walls. Then use trebucet to break down the gate or a wall
>>
>>144640589
Speaking of sea, I also think it'd make sense to have the interior being where you get war machines like boats and artillery. So your heartland is defensible if you build a strong navy, while the frontier is sensitive to the sea. To make that not tedious, I think they should bring back moving units in whatever size you want. I always thought it was stupid that nothing could move without a general, the inherent trade-off is that you don't get general abilities. So you rally an army at the frontier and if you anticipate a serious campaign with sieges, you build artillery and navy beforehand at your major cities near your capitol.
>>
Do AI armies sit literally millimeters outside of your attacking range for any of you dudes? This shit is fucking absurd, chasing down armies and being steps away from engaging them every few turns is just frustrating to no end. It keeps happening, it has to be an intentional AI quirk.

>>144641130
I think some of the smart ones are implied to realize they need some amount of foot, at least the longbowmen, and that their trebuchet are pretty credible for getting into castles, which they need since not everyone gets a flying horse. You need at least something to knock down walls so the knights can bravely charge into the breach securing eternal glory.

One of the reasons they grind the peasants into the mud so harshly is to build pretty credible castles, too. (And one of the ways they do it. Castles project power well.)

The thing is their idea of what good is and what they can make is not impregnable. The only thing that really keeps the Empire off their backs is the fact they have other problems, and it's logistically challenging to attack Brettonia. All those cannons would kick the shit out of their castle walls.

Also probably the Lady of the Lake and the Wood Elves, but isn't that true about every problem they have? It's convenient for them to exist as hitmen/a counterweight to certain parties. So they literally get divine protection from missile weapons/literal character shields. This has a game effect. They are literally harder than it should be to shoot because of MAGIC/divine favor.
>>
>>144641536

They've been doing that since Rome 2 I believe. AI is programmed to not move into range of any army unless it thinks itself stronger. They will ALWAYS move just outside of your movement range, then when you get close, they scurry away or even past you with march stance to sack your settlements.

Is there any tactics/strategy/mods that can make the volleyblaster gun (organ gun) more useful? They can't kill/shoot for shit, very slow, have shorter range, and as equally expensive to buy and maintain as steam tanks. Oh, they also do crap damage.

>>144641930
>Beardlings cowering in fear whenever they see Longbeards because they are afraid of the grumbling.

Warhammers Dwarfs have so much character. I still have a little chuckle to myself when I think of the concept of Slayers.
For those unfamiliar, Slayers are Dwarfs who have disgraced themselves/their clan/their guild/their hold/their lunch or whatever in some way, so they take the Slayer Oath, which is an oath to die in combat. They are not allowed to wear armour, they spike their hair up into a mow hawk and dye it orange so other Dwarfs can see what they are, but there is one problem with this suicide pact. Dwarfs are stubborn and proud, so although they have to go get killed in combat, they are not allowed to intentionally die. They HAVE to fight to win, no exceptions. There are some angry Slayers who wonder why they can't die, and why are they so worthless, after killing their 3rd Dragon with nothing but a couple of hand axes.

after playing Dwarfs I feel like their roster is seriously lacking in choice
