I liked fishing really early on but big game fishing was awful. The fun of fishing was being able to settle down and spend an hour or two straight on fish while chatting with friends, but as soon as they added that garbage I had to start following timers and jumping from zone to zone following the fisher zerg as everyone tried to catch that one fish they needed in the 5 minute window it was available.

TERA has much better combat and Elin if you're a lolicon pervert. It's a great game for about a month. Once you hit level cap you literally farm one dungeon forever because everything quickly becomes obsolete. It's also a horribly, horribly unoptimized game so even the most powerful rigs will be chugging at 20-50 FPS far more often than should ever be acceptable while the same computer would pull 300+ FPS in FFXIV.
FFXIV starts out slow. Painfully fucking slow. Most classes don't really start to become fun until level 30-40. It has way more side-content and, if you're someone who cares about it at all, the story is infinitely better. Incredibly optimized and even low-end computers can handle it decently.
I played TERA for three years and BHS has been dropping the ball so much lately that I just can't deal with it anymore. If you don't like Elin you'll probably feel very alienated and being competitive requires a fuckload of grinding to get the highest enchantment on equipment.
