Honestly, I don't get all the whining about Slark. Even when I got mad freefarm and ganked constantly, I felt like I could have done it on literally any other carry. I died super fast in teamfights to SF ult/death and I pushed really slowly. Sure, I made the supports want to kill themselves, but I could have done that on any carry with a shadowblade.
I'd have rather just played a better hero like Lifestealer or someone that's fun like Meepo.

As a Dota player who played a lot of LoL before switching, it's pretty bad in every way: its client is a mess, its business model is grind2win garbage, its art direction is uninspired anime crap, its gameplay is bland, shallow (along with being flashy in order to make people feel skillful even though skillshots are a fucking joke of a mechanic when they're overused).
It does have some appeal, since it shares some of what's fun about the ARTS genre (there are several roles on a team with each role doing different things throughout the game, there is a significant power curve for each hero, and as a match goes on it changes). However, once I played Dota I realized that it doesn't even do those things very well. A good analogy would be liking FF13 because it's the first JRPG you ever played.
I really think any LoL player who gives Dota an honest chance will find it better and far more enjoyable; instead they're too busy crying about turn rate, the HUD and being lost being every hero is unlocked at the start.

Anti Mage is a VERY greedy hero. Unless the enemy team got heroes that a insane mana pool, and can actually spend it(I.E Storm Spirit, Outworld Devourer), Anti Mage will be a non contributor unless he gets 2 or 3 core items. Sure he could get a Vanguard and blink into fights early, but his contribution will be lacking since most heroes in Dota has less than 400 mana at most points of the game.
To play greedy, is to do a team around that.
The greediest is 5 heroes who needs some farm to be effective(or builds that do), and then you actually play all of them greedy. The problem is that there is only 7 sources of farm on the map, and lane creep is only 3 of those per team. And a hero can effectively farm 2 of those, and the greediest 4 of them.
So a greedy teams runs into the issue where there is only 3 units of farm left to farm, for 5 heroes.
This is also why 4 protect 1 works: You have the super core farm, and the rest of the team pushes, takes towers, teamfights, wards and try to protect their super core. If it works, the Super Core is 10-15k net worth ahead by the 30 minute mark, and is ready to crush the enemy team.

The Deliver Items hotkey always grabs the items and sends it to you, which makes it annoying for the other people on your team.
You'd be way better off getting used to selecting the courier, transferring the items to it from the stash (either with the hotkey that does just that or with the courier's command). Because you're not stuck with a command that will always send the courier out of the fountain, everyone can get their items on the courier and then deliver them, and you can also just shift-d then shift-f to queue up a deliver command if the courier is already out of the base.
With that way, you also get used to courier micro, which is really useful for things like bottle crowing (and in general, moving items around), saving the courier from people trying to snipe it, etc. I've seen so many people screw this up that I honestly think the Deliver Items command is a noob trap.
