ai chaos attacks a 3 stack i have and i can easily fuck them up but the one that gets dragged first and clogs up my army is a bunch of damaged piece of shit units that get crushed by their hell cannon/giant/cavalry spam, then after theyre done raping my recovering army it finally begins letting my other units in (archers and artillery first too usually) 1 at a time with no support which is really fucking cool because by that time theyre already surrounded by cavalry and boss units and in range of the hell cannon fire

I think for sieges, instead of the old "wait them out" or "have an all out battle" system, the player should be able to choose to assault different parts of the city while besieging.
First you have to capture the gate/walls
Then you can choose to assault parts of the city, such as the city square (greatly weakens enemy morale and overall resistance), the residential quarter (weakens enemy morale and nets a bit of loot), the market district (gains you the most loot), after taking one of the previous 3, you can attack the citadel or whatever you want to call the enemy headquarters, which wins the siege and gives you control of the settlement.
So for sieges you can basically wait them out, assault all 3 locations in one turn, or assault one location per turn and assault the rest later.
