I wonder what the mini/historical campaign packs for Warhammer will be.
The rise of Sigmar/Nagash/Sotek, the War of the Beard and the Sundering are all pretty viable, after the relevant expansions obviously. Maybe Waaagh! Gorbad/Grom as well.

Mannfred's sword quest was so hilariously easy that the third wave of enemies ran away before getting within 500m of my guys. I guess goblins aren't so great against crypt horrors and scary vargheists. Still, most of my army was just skellington spearmans. There's no way they actually expect you to march all the way into the fucking badlands though, so I'm glad you can just teleport.

Finally understood why I have most fun playing Empire even though they are the most "boring" race in warhammer.

They are the only ones with:

The only ones that have decent units in all 4 categories.

Orcs have all 4 too, but most of time you're better off without the archers, unless you're fighting other orcs.

Chaos was my favorite race in Fantasy, but they are so boring to play in total warhammer. Just endless melee spam. You can get few hellcannons and chaos knights to make it less worse but it's still so tedious.

fug, confederating with bloody spears may have been a mistake, I got all that clay above deathpass, but I will likely just lose it soon to rebellions and inevitable war declarations anyway, though I suppose Gunbad I can hold, since it has a gold mine and is a city so pretty much impossible for the AI to capture

How many turns is a campaign game on average?

I'm playing an Orc game on Legendary and am about to reach 300 although i only really have the empire left to deal with.

greatsword graveguards have 13 less melee defence, 4 more charge bonus, and 2 less weapon strength, but obviously they have 26 armor piercing damage compared to normal ones 8. They also don't have shields, which for graveguards are the 50% ones, not 30% like most things have. Normal ones cost 83% as much upkeep as well. If you're going against anything with a decent amount of armor, greatswords are probably winners

What I really hate is how you have a -4 Public Order modifier on your cities that just says 'Difficulty level' What!? That's not thematic at all, its just annoying.

And now I'm learning the AI doesn't have different tactics or anything, it just gives them a buff in battle.

This is the only reference to difficulty and the combat in the entire TWW database. I spend about 2 hours looking thoroughly through everything, I also looked through all the older games from what modders found and there has NEVER been any difference in combat other than morale buffs/debuffs. You can see it ingame as well when you mouse over the morale of your troops in a battle.

AI obviously refers to the AIs bonuses, player for the players debuffs. It stacks on very hard/legendary.

In terms of its gameplay effects it can be massive. For example, a unit of orc boys will beat a unit of dwarf warriors on normal, but get absolutely decimated on hard or very hard. Which totally fucks up the orcs early game against dwarfs.

Maybe in multiplayer battles they're not as efficient or effective or something, but they're perfectly fucking fine in single-player. They're only 168 upkeep per turn, so it's not like they're going to destroy an army of halberds or something, but they can definitely hold their own against elite troops. They're got armor piercing, so they're useful for fighting armored enemies which most of the stronger melee units are. Some of the units in this game are pretty shit, but ignore people who say shit like 'all the monsters in the game are fucking useless'.

Monstrous infantry seems to act like shock infantry, very good on a charge and for breaking up formations. They're fast enough to act like less squishy cavalry, except for Vargheists which are squishy as fuck due to having no armour.

Can you completely wipe out the Varg and Skaeling factions? I'm playing as Vampire Counts and they razed every human city to the north, and they keep trying to hit my shit with full stacks while I slowly move north to test my theory but it's taking forever

You know, this point always bugs me. People always say the series feels too "arcade" like.

When they've all played, more or less, the same unless you mod it a lot. I've barely changed playing since M2 or R1 and it still works just fine.

When I think of arcade, rhythm games, fighting games, light gun shooters and racing games come to mind mostly. The arcades I went to didn't have any turn based strategy or real time tactical games. Care to name a few and elaborate on what they're like so I can understand what you're trying to say?

Do people really dislike the new sieges that much? They're really simplified sure but the AI can't handle them for shit in older games. At least now they can attack/defend somewhat competently. A little anyway.

The racial siege engines are cool as shit too, especially the dwarf ones.

Infact I'd call Shogun 2 one of the worst offenders when it comes to feeling disconnected from your units, because there were so incredibly few different units that you were leading clone armies.

Warhammer actually does this really well I feel, you get a unit that performs exceptionally in a battle, you decide to change its name, and you form an emotional connection to it.

How do I deal with the various dwarf factions as VC ? They always sneakily declare to me once my armies are away somewhere and raze one of my settlements in the same turn.

If I defeat them and raze theirs, it's just a matter of time before some other dwarf faction comes and resettles it and does the same kind of trick.

Am I supposed to genocide all dwarfs ?
