Light Punch/Medium Punch = close range fast attacks that you can use to try to stuff slower attacks from your opponent
Medium Punch = usually your main combo starter/hit confirm normal.
Medium Kick = usually your low poke normal. use it to catch people trying to walk in and out of your range
Hard Punch = completely dependent on the character. Some are pokes, some are combo starters, some are combo fillers, etc. they are all pretty slow but they usually have long reach.
Hard Kick = Crouching version is sweep, something which you shouldn't mash because they are punishable in SFV. The standing version varies pretty wildly from char to char just like hard punch.
