Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.

The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.

It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

Yeah, with two boosters it's not bad, but at that point you're spending 50 air gems on fatigue reduction. That's a full air queen.

T-strike has a fairly high base fatigue cost and stuff like Fog Warriors is even higher, so without boosters he'll get exhausted quickly.

That's wrong. The fatigue is decreased to 1/(extra levels +1). So A8 would be casting thunderstrike for roughly 1/6 fatigue, which is about 7 fatigue per thunderstrike. Add 3 encumbrance and he's taking 10 fatigue per cast, or 40 per turn.

The Math nerds only magic weapon troops have MR (hard to resist) negates, so there's that.
Both of the Dorf nations have good magic weapons on their sacreds.
The Empire has Lightsabers on their sacreds.
The Dreki lack magic weapons until their dragons hatch.
MA Azo has magic weapons that horror mark besides.
Doom has Banefire Bolts, Lightning strikes, and Fireballs. All with 1 Res cost, yikes.
Ulmreich lacks magic weapons until summons.

I think cataclysm would bring out the "throw everything and anything at the undead apocalypse" atmosphere, but if other people want to play normal, MA nations against #OPErmorPlsNerf I'd join that game too.

When I phrase it like that, it makes me think, "Ya, just what I want to do with MA nations, fight against Ermor yet again." So maybe that's the thing: playing versus the best nation in the game in the worst age is what truly makes fighting Ermor suck. How about a modified one age game, with all non-redundant EA and MA nations? Isn't that what heralded the end of the EA anyway, Ermor's destruction? So wouldn't Lanka, EA Xibalba, Helheim and such nations still be around to fight before Ermor unshers in the MA? Imagine a scenario not unlike the very fall of Ermor!

I mainly like it because the sprites are amazing, but the way it does ranged troops is interesting too. Their only ranged weapons are javelins, but their javelin troops have significant improvements to precision and damage, on top of dealing fatigue damage on hit. It makes them surprisingly lethal, though I'm not sure how it'd hold up in a larger battle.

I'd like to see their troops get a buff, though. Their units all have coldpower and terrible base stats outside the water, leaving them barely acceptable in cold3. It basically feels like you need to spread your dominion to any land province you want to take.

Ermor started out as a regular player in that game and WAS playing to make the skelepocalypse. Ermor in this game starts out ruling the world and is not going to actually kill any players. I think a far better way of doing it would be to set up a scenario such that Ermor controls 30% of the map, the other nations cover 50% of the map between them, and the remaining 20% is indie buffer zones. All nations should, assuming sane expansion, wind up bordering Ermor. That way Ermor is a fightable opponent and likely to (eventually) lose but can go all-out instead of trying to cripple themselves just right. .

Giving them an identity besides being bad underwater Pangaea would be preferable. A2W1 Sirens on land would be a start if they had the means to cast Storm for some Thunder Strike action, but I don't know of a thematic way to implement this. Some sort of Siren Queen, maybe?

Letting them catch up a bit on Pangaea's strengths would be a band-aid fix. For starters, they're paying 55g more for a far inferior big mage: 2/3 of their randoms are worthless for fuck's sake, never mind Earth being superior to Water (especially considering Pan has super-buffable Reveler while Oceania doesn't benefit nearly as much from their access to N buffs due to their weaker troops).

I think that increasing their random to 100% while keeping their price the same would make Capricorns great mages. In addition to having up to E3 on land for earthquakes and A1E2 for RoS (with boots in summod), you would also have the occasional A2 capricorn for cloud trapeze thugging or mobile mage support and even N5 capricorns if you ever felt that N4 base just wasn't enough.

I'd like to see them hit a lot harder in melee. If you want to effectively flank someone your flankers need to be able to kill things quickly, before your enemy wins the fight. Right now cavalry can't do that. After their charge is used up, their offense is pretty shit, and they don't take buffs well either.

If you buffed their offense they'd also fill a niche which human nations desperately need filled - powerful melee troops for lategame.

A change I'd like to see but can't mod is additional mobility on the strategic map. If armies with sufficient movement points could attack non-adjacent enemy provinces (like flying, but without being able to move through enemy provinces) the extra strategic movement on cavalry could let them be used in raiding parties.

SC stands for Supercombatant or Supercaster. Very powerful single units that can take on armies alone and win, kitted with lots of gems and buffs.
