Yes, the roles kinda changed in playstyle since then but overall it's pretty much the same meta. The most notable thing is that Solo lane is pretty much bruiser only for now and jungler leach a bit more from lanes.

Then it's probably better to first for for 3vs3 and then steer her toward clash/conquest since she won't have to deal with rotations and both farming and positioning is easier. Recommended items is usually viable but they're in no order and may lag a bit behind when there are balance changes. For items builds you can check http://smite.guru/builds/i/1670 for Ymir for example, it's aggregated from popular builds and have user submitted builds too, choosing ranked game modes often yield better results and you have to keep in mind that people sell their starters on carries so be careful about what the first item is. Since you seem to have played DoTA you shouldn't have much trouble figuring builds and items quickly.
Ymir is pretty simple to learn as with most free gods, you have one of the longest CC in the game in a big cone, a wall that once mastered can easily turn fights around and great base stats beside movespeed.

Baskin & homiefe hit level 3 before any of them hit 2. If they actually played the game after that, none of them would be able to walk up to the minions to get XP. Baskin would've solo'd dust every time he tried to kill a minion, due to the fact that EnVy jungle was irrelevant to him. Bakin could've solo carried from there, literally. This season is terrible to watch due to early game being stale, tank meta still going strong, mid-late game being nearly entirely siege-based, etc. Every jungle gank is telegraphed to hell, teams are so far apart that most matches are really one-sided & outside of the few picks, gods that are meta are really boring to watch.
It is still worth checking the reddit threads to see if a game was interesting (close games, 1-1s are worth watching, interesting gods, odd players feeding, etc.) But outside that not really.
hopefully HiRez do a big mid-season patch before next split that makes stuff more interesting, but it isn't looking promising considering that season 3 patch was same size as a regular LOL patch & every other patch has failed to address important issues.
That said, any match with multiple blinks is definitely worth watching, any match with sunder is worth watching, same goes for any panthera, paradigm, soar, ALG & off-picks
If you love smite, watch it for good games, because you might burn yourself out.
