why do all modpacks run like shit on my pc? i have 8gb ram, 280x, and an i5 4460. even when i have above 60fps, its still insanely fucking stuttery

I decided to try ICYTOO Paul Dano version.

I have never used IC, ever, in all the years its been alive for the same reason I didnt like buildcraft at first. Basically NEI didnt exist and I couldnt deal.
But more recently in the past few years where NEI exists and stuff, I still didnt use it due to RF being non-bullshit shenanigans, and I dont like other power systems.

Anyway, I tried it. Placed down a machine and threw power at it with a converter.
It exploded, spooking my guts off.
I got the weakest cable and tried again. It worked but was pretty fuckin' slow.
Upgrades and stuff added, tried a new cable to stop it from shitting itself only to explode again, spooking my guts off.

Oh well, nothing gained or lost. I really just wanted to use the NUCLEAR stuff, since Big Reactors is babby mode, and the Science one from back in the day is Ded.

Next run Im probably going to try Magenticraft and Nuclearcraft or whatever it's called.
Maybe when hell freezes over Ill try Reikafurshit's mod

depending on your monitor, having a higher (60+) framerate is not really any benefit. turn on Vsync. it might save some performance and your hardware a little bit.
lastly, what packs are you using? some, like Infinity Evolved, have a lot of shitty bloat that you can take out.

i can't stand v-sync. i hate input lag. also my system is barely even being used. (low cpu/gpu usage)

Agrarian Skies, Agrarian Skies 2, Ultimate Questpack, IE:S, and IE.
vanilla minecraft with optifine runs 200+ fps and actually feels smooth. these modpacks run at around 60-100 fps average and they have micro stutters to the point where it doesnt even feel like 60fps

and this is reason #1 why Thaumcraft is the most bothersome mod out there. At least with Blood Magic, you UPGRADE your orb instead of tossing it in the trash for the new shiny. Botania too; once you get mana flow you can build whatever you want given you have the mana for it.

Once I get my Technomancer's Scepter, no longer will I have to be running around for nodes to fill my wand. I'll just have a Resonant capacitor in my pocket to fill it for me.

Go with 1.9. The Reddit community is large and with the fast push for 1.9 there, it will eventually be the main mod version. If you mod for 1.7, you eventually need to relearn the API severely to get to 1.8.

Directly hooking a tesseract up to the reactor input isn't giving water fast enough for even one turbine. When testing with a liquid transfer node hooked up to a drum versus the tesseract being hooked up to a drum, the tesseract is way slower than with the transfer node. It doesn't make too much sense because there are 5 max power transfer nodes pumping water into the tesseract. The tesseracts supplying steam to the turbines are all able to handle the steam just fine.

In 1.9 there's a bug that if a piston retracts with an entity within it, and no other place to "eject" the entity, it will pull the entity through it. So using a system of pressure plates/tripwire, Monostable Circuits, and Pistons (read: not sticky) you can move entities (players, mobs, drops) around at rather great speeds.

Using Translocators, you can probably get the mobs out of the system fairly rapidly, so you do not hit the spawner cap.
