Stacking elemental resists, you can have around 70% resist with hellfires (use Circlet instead of the awful helm, it's just as good), or even reach 100% on fire+ice+thunder if you're lucky with master rings

This talk of mods and shiz kinda bug me though, don't really want another episode of skyrim where you needed mods to make the game great. Coming from the disappointment that was ds3 and lack of real replayability, I just want a game I can pour lots of hours into.

You've come to the right place my friend. Many of us here have at least 200+ hours logged on the PC version alone, not even counting our console copies.
As for mods you don't need to worry, most of the mods out are just color swaps for armor and weapons. A few are actual model alterations but they're still just cosmetic.

Well it depends on what you already know about the story I guess. At face value it just a generic, but charming, quest about slaying the dragon and you even get to rescue a damsel in distress towards the end.
Speaking of romance options 98% of NPC's in the game are romance-able. While they're mostly generic npc's with no real quest lines they do all have unique dialogue, some more than others, and it's worth checking in on them from time to time as you progress with the main story missions as they all/most get new dialogue. Especially the characters from the starting village.
As for quests there are notice board quests, which essentially are just all either "go kill 50 <insert monster here> or escort quests. You unlock escort quests when you have raised an npc's affinity to a certain point and all you have to do is take them from point A to B. There are also a few proper side quests with an actual plot line and of course you have the main story quests which progress the game forward.
I feel that I've gotten to a point where I'm just rambling with this and have no idea where I'm going but feel free to ask whatever questions you have. We're all pretty friendly and chill.

Honeslty all I wanted were mods that fixed the bugs, cape animations, and transferred hairstyles from DDO into DDDA. Recolors are nice too.
Cape animations are impossible, unfortunately. Bug fixes, so far I only see people making augments overpowered. Nobody has bothered to transfer stuff from DDO.
I would make my own balance patch of DDDA if I could. Nerfing some classes and skills and buffing others. I always wanted to play a DD that was as fair as possible all around and doesn't seem like Capcom will ever patch the game, not even for the old bugs carried over from the console version.

Most people here don't mind the class of the pawn. All that matters is that they aren't retarded. If someone is looking for a Sorcerer it may be because their Arisen and Main Pawn are physical classes or because they need someone to spell sync with, every party has different needs.

I've been thinking about DDO, how it killed the general. Someone was curious as to why we hated it. It wasn't hate.
It ended our shared dream in a sequel but it was more than that. Capcom, a once great company that had fallen to a pure trash company, had fallen low enough that they insulted their fans for christ's sake, had made something great once again.
It was probably an accident.
But it was something great, again. They can do it again! They won't, but they might!
This great action game, with all these little touches, with all these throwbacks to classic fantasy and dungeons and dragons, where the hell did it come from? Why was it so damn fun? We were reminded that only Capcom could have made this kind of game.
Hoping for a sequel was like a prayer that this continue. Their little cellphone game, that wasn't enough to knock us down, it was just a cell phone game. DDO was the end, this is Capcom as it is now. This is how it is.
Rightly or wrongly, without shared feelings there's no community. That's why DDO almost killed /ddg/, and did kill what made it unique.

the modding potential of this game was the only thing that allowed me to make my dream equipment/character.
also I can dire gouge in my ideal equipment. and use sky rapture, without having to change vocation. this game has some of the most widely accessible content without mod tools that i have ever seen.
it takes comparable effort to modding games with good mod tools, and takes far LESS effort to edit already existing content than games that have excellent mod tools. if people wanted to, they could edit the fauna into whatever enemies they wanted. there just isn't enough of a modding community to creatively take advantage of the content's full potential.
I discovered that fauna thing the hard way, trying to make a player home while removing rats. successfully turned them into cyclops and archhydras, ended up settling on spawning them as the fake bats that come out of the everfall.

I've usually been reluctant for a few reasons. The first thing that comes to mind is uploading them on the nexus, and having retarded comments/requests. So I'll just make a post for it when I'm done instead.
My next issue is I'm afraid people will butcher the content with how they use it. This is kind of unavoidable because I'm enough of an autistic pedant to even make these mods. But for the people that are still left playing this perfect game, I admire them enough to share it with them anyway.
Last issue is polish.
The mods may look nice in the screenshots, but in reality they're the most slapdash, jury-rigged pieces of shit. My method has several contingencies that are difficult to explain. Suffice to say that installation, and therefore explaining installation, is somewhat elaborate.
These pawns are case in point. Salvation robes with the hood textured out, model swapped with leather belts (because leather belts are a single-piece model), combined with an ebon neck wrap that was cut down to stop clipping, and worn with evening tights so you can't see the legs when they slightly clip. Next has the nun's vestments partially retextured black, swapped with the female leather belts for the same reason, worn with duchess's tiara made from texturing out the duchess's entire outfit except the tiara and swapping it with a different headpiece, and worn with cotton leggings.
Messy as fuck.
I'll upload it all soon though, since my friend and I are long done with modding the game.

A long story.
tl;dr: My main and ironically least-attended pawn.
When I first played Dragon's Dogma on the consoles, saw all the references to Saint George, and wanted to make my perfect character, I read that he was depicted with Saint Demetrius. And that worked out fine and dandy on the console version.
At one point I saw this Byzantime romance of Alexander, and Seleucus was depicted in a fashion very comparable to the Shadow Armor set. I was grinding on Daimon for the hell of it, and wanted an excuse to have an OP pawn, and my character vaguely resembled the Alexander in Western European manuscripts of his romance, so it was a perfect alternate roleplay to my primary roleplay.
But on the PC version things changed. I already knew that depictions of George with Demetrius were almost entirely limited to Eastern Orthodox depictions, which didn't pertain to my character (more of an obsessive homage by this point) at all. And with the modding capability, I was never going to RP as Alexander and Seleucid again.
So I had a choice.
Find a new saintly companion, or lazily justify my preferred form of Demetrius as Seleucid.
I could have actually made a Saint Florian pawn to go with my Saint George arisen, but I opted out, because number one I'm lazy, and number two I didn't have confidence in the design in my head. It would have used the Chimeric Armor's tassets, the Chimeric Sabatons mixed with the Shadow Greaves, and used the Sallet instead of the Armet, but I had teething problems getting the sabatons to work, and gave up all together.
So how do I justify Demetrius now? Well particular depictions (usually Italian, usually high/pre-high Renaissance) of Saint George depict him near Turks/middle easterners. And I particularly liked the Asiatic fellows in Pisanello's famous fragments of his Saint George. So voila, Turk in the party by vague association. Really, it's just that I think it looks cool.

Does balanced stat growth work out? I'm planning on a 3500 HP 3900 ST and 557 phys/magick attack build. I'm the type who likes to play and everything and be able to switch basically whenever I want, I just want to make sure I'm not totally gimping myself.

There's not much noticeable difference in stats once you get maxed out BBI weapons, so that build sounds pretty good. You can really only gimp yourself if you do something retarded like 200 levels of Mage and then wondering why your character sucks at being a Warrior.
If you know what class you want to main though, it's usually a pretty good idea to just concentrate on that class' main stat instead of spreading everything around.

My idea of what I want to main changes every 20 levels, so I try to give myself as many options as possible. I don't want to be broken and clear every room in one shot, just don't to feel like I'm attacking with wooden sword and level 1 magic missiles.

He is just a pawn used to guide you through the very beginning. But, you will out level him, since he can't level up. The whole thing about this game, is hiring other peoples pawns.
But if you are going warrior, I would reccomend making the pawn you're creating, a warrior also. The 2 warrior combo is super op. Then after that, summon a new mage pawn, after some time, because you will outlevel Rook.

I think I've figured out an interesting interpretation of the story. The game's a commentary on player control and player free will. The Seneschal can create life, but never characters with 'true' free will like you the player. All the NPCs in the games are pretty much just slightly more advanced pawns.
So when you use the Godsbane on yourself you're not breaking the cycle, you're giving up your free will / attachment to your character and continuing the cycle.

It's been at least a week since I returned her, but from what I remember she played very well with my main pawn and my arisen thanks to her spell list. Lots of spell sync happening. I didn't really notice any problems with the Nexus inclination, but I always have at least one aggressive pawn with Pioneer in my party, so I was never waiting for Saskya to engage the enemy.
She did tend to pull aggro a lot, which meant she also died a lot, while I was also playing a sorcerer. I'm sure this stood out only because the rest of the pawns in the party were level 200s with health regen clothes and the Tenacity augment, but as much as I like the Berserkin with the flame skirt combo it didn't really help to boost her physical defense.
This wasn't as noticeable when I switched to Magick Archer or Strider, so it's largely just an issue of whether or not the arisen or other pawns can deal enough damage to pull aggro off of her.
I've already rented her out again, so I'll keep a closer eye on her behaviors this turn through BBI.
