Do the Opportunities then find the Career Agents & run all of their missions; they give you ISK, ships, skillbooks and teach you basics. Talk to players and try to find a corp. The game is only as boring as you are.

~300mil in ~12k ehp.
Not paper, but now that I know what dps suicide gankers are capable of, it was still a terribly low tank.
I was moving a ton of ships through the same path and due to limited cargo space I had to squeeze all my assets into all ships, hence the sub-par tank.
Didn't expect a gank, then again - you never can.

>Deep space transport? The tanky industrials?
Yes. You need racial (that's Gallente btw) industrial 5 to get into one.
Then you need to tank it up. Also cargo expanders aren't very good on those because they don't affect the fleet hold, which is where most of the cargo space in them is.

The fleet hold is also useful because you can make is so fleet mates can open it directly.

>I'm not sure if it's a good thing that I survived, he'll be out for vengeance for sure.

Catalysts are the most common, but a vexor can go up to ~1k DPS for ~30 million, while a tornado has the benefit of having huge alpha and only needing to shoot once or twice, which means that its paper DPS doesn't work as it seems.

Either way works, but 100mil/10kEHP is still the proper way to go about it.
>>
>>140723679
>over 50k hangar space untrained
Who needs cargo expanders? All I'm doing is small time <10k cargo trips.
DST sounds like a nice ship to train for.

>>140723846
Figured as much. Still, I don't want to tempt fate, so I'm logged out in a station where I was ganked.
I'll try to wait him out and then sneak out in a shuttle, bring proper tank mods and try to get my hauler out of there.
EFT says I'll pull off ~24k ehp. Still sounds pretty scary. Maybe I should unload a bit of cargo with something smaller?
I could get ~200/300 mil out of there in 2 maybe 3 trips. Should I go for it?

If I log in into a wardec I'll know what levels of autism I'm doing with.
>>
>>140725056
A catalyst is not really appropriate for this kind of ganking.

500m range means you will need to be right on top of him and he can spawn anywhere around the gate, so you'll have to burn 10-12 km. He might have aligned and warped at that point.

I was always wondering - how do cloaks work?
On other players' grids I mean.

Do I disappear the moment I click it or after the animation finishes?
Also can you cloak if you're being targeted?

I know only of the 2000m restriction, but it can't be the only one, can it?
I'm super confus.
>>
>>140726550
>Do I disappear the moment I click it or after the animation finishes?

IIRC you become untargetable as soon as the server recognizes you pressed cloak.
Your ship bracket doesn't actually disappear from other players' overviews until the animation actually finishes however (+/- 1 second or so)

>>
>>140726550
>can you cloak if you're being targeted?
If you're in the process of being targeted you can still cloak and their targeting will fail.

If you're already locked then no, you cannot cloak.
>>
>>140725441
Generally speaking, I made good use of courier contracts before I trained up a DST character on my account. That 1-2plex + 200 million for the DST itself + modules and you still have to only plex 1 account when you're done.

For courier contracts, either google Red Frog Freight or join "haulers channel" ingame and read the MOTD.

DSTs are best left to out of corp alts so you can move shit while you're wardecked.

>>140726550
You hit the button and you disappear. The only varying factor here is lag - you can still get locked before you cloak if you're really unlucky.
>>
>>140726550
you disappear from overview a few seconds after pressing it, but once it's pressed, if people try to lock you, they will be unable to and it'll say you're invulnerable or you don't exist or something

if someone is in the process of targeting you you can cloak and their lock will fail. if you are already targeted, i.e. yellow or red boxed, you cannot cloak

Why is there only one type of viable non aggressive support role (RR)? OGB doesn't count.
Remote seboing/tracking links come close, but these don't have dedicated fittings for the job, just some weird mutants that aren't combat worthy.

I'd love to see a fleet composition where members are paired up - SP intensive "big ship" guy with a small support guy and they together form a more formidable foe than two crap DPS fits.
Knowing CCP this will never happen. But why? It sounds like a fun idea on paper.
>>
>>140732946
with what they're doing to ogb maybe they'll make some more interesting stuff for boosting allies, like an area effect remote tracking computer or something, or a module you can target to multiple people
>>
>>140733542
Yeah but it'll be pretty passive - put one buffing module on auto-cycle and play the rest of the engagement like you would in a normal fit.
I was thinking of something more active (like RR is now), though I have no idea how that'd work.
>>
I'm hoping that the ship running a link module gets fucked on it's cap, so you need to either cap chain it or time the effect for when its best. Also encourages counterplay in neuts/damps

EVE pvp has gone to shit when killboards became popular (about the time wormholes were implemented).
People (some people) started trying so hard to score kills that the lengths they'll go to secure kills know no bounds.
Guess this is what happens when you mix autism with pvp.

Existence of those tools hurts nobody. It's flawless and provides useful information. Issue is it's how much some people care about the numbers there.
For some those numbers define what's fun and what's not, that's why you see links cancer and other bullshit mechanics.

Getting kills has turned into fun. Instead of fun running its own track along with kills.

explo is great when you live in wormholes and just run those sweet sansh/gurista sites when you are scanning them down anyway.

If you are new and are trying level 3s, invest in a gnosis - it will fuck them hard an it is 100% role bonuses, working with a variety of weapons and drones, and armor or shield tank (shield is better though).

also, low sec belt ratting n a t1 destroey is pretty good money. a little inconsistent, but as a new player it's certainly more consistent than exploring, so long as you're smart about it.

the first 3-6 months are rough depending on how you train. just focus on frigates and destroyers early on so that you dont feel the need for a ton of isk. when you are only flying things you can afford to lose, you will always feel wealthy.

also friend ship best ship I hope you have a good corp with people you like - which is way more important than having skilled corp mates.
>>
>>140766796
By this point in the game no newbie should be running missions particularly if they're already in a group of players.

Missions are something to do in your solo time if you legit have done all your other daily/bi-daily tasks eg manufacturing orders, chains, scanning etc. Missions are a stop-gap designed to keep the player busy while other activities time out and refresh.

Missions aren't the greatest income earner unless you do them for SOE or potentially out in null (and even then only for a very select few LP stores anyway).

At the surface level you're much better off running C3s/C4s with either an alt or another person, the income is roughly the same and you could argue the risks are lower in wormholes due to things like hole control. The major difference between wormholes and null missions would probably boil down to the much shorter pay out periods - null gives you BPCs or items which you can leave in station or cash out in a market. Blue loot requires salvaging and hauling at some personal risk (though not as much as the krabs would tell you).

I'd be interested. I'd have to ask some of the managers I know whats involved with running a team, I'd need to actually buy PES, and I'm not really super familiar with the elite dank memes of /eog/ from a standpoint of like, Oruze Cruise, or All-Out, or knowing nullsec drama ect.. This is Minerbro and I've been watching the 4cc every season since winter 2014, but I've never really watched much of the /vg/ cups. Ideally based on other teams that I like anyways the players/memes should be like,

The captain, vice-captain, and goalie should be things that are pretty much eternally heroic for EVE and /eog/

Some examples are
>Creed from /tg/
>Spike from cowboy bebop for /a/
>Messi from /sp/
>Richard Stallman for /g/
>Hitler and Donald Trump for /pol/

>Part /eog/ culture
>Part whats going on in EVE
>Part general EVE memes

the last three are like, things that should be spread across the rest of the players, and should rotate pretty regularly, like every season or two.

I don't know jack shit about the aesthetics and how they are imported, I also don't own PES for testing though after talking to some of the managers I may be willing to buy pes and test/manage.

Perfect example of I like this and I don't like this and screw the truth. EVE is not your standard MMO/video game. I'll respond just to part on mining...

First he left off how incredibly important mining is to the game as a whole as EVERYTHING player produced IN the game (and that's the vast majority of ALL the products available in the game) depend on mining. Without it, EVE would grind to a halt.

And as it is hugely important, it seems there are probably a few more than just "2" miners... and obviously all those miners are out there playing every single day... thousands of them. The gameplay is not just "target rock - press F1", there's drones and rats and salvage and watching for local spikes and working out of the client on those infamous spreadsheets and chatting on comms with the rest of the guys you are mining with and running haulers or a Orca... etc. etc. etc. ALL of which the reviewing asshat completely left out. He took a look at an immensely complex game and gameplay and left out a HUGE amount of the details... the details of which ARE the gameplay... not just target press F1. Id10t.

This is one seriously fecked up review that will act to push people away from one of the best and most immersive MMOs on the fecking market... Thanx, butthead.

They lied to you. CCP have only nerfed ganking.
>>
>>140776805
Really? In what way?

I don't play anymore, but I do try to pop in every once in a while to see what's happening with the game. Last thing I remember reading was that sleepers were making incursions into k space and podding players.
>>
>>140777136
Yeah sleepers weren't a huge botch and right now we are having amazing fun dodging sleeper gatecamps in Amarr. CCP also buffed ganking and there's like only a handful of dedicated hisec miner corps left. Everyone else is out mining in nullsec. It's so much fun having people living in null systems that my corp has moved out there to defend a bunch of miners, I know it sounds gay but it's fun as fuck enaging in small gang skirmishes with neighbouring gangs. And citadels are only adding to they dynamic ever changing nature of those fights. No more static structure time based combat "events" now we fight almost whenever we log on. Cheap FOBs like citadels allow us to set up small throwaway bases to clone jump to behind enemy lines and fuck with their freighter supply lines, which are just starting to come back after the JF nerf, at least for the few hours until the citadels gets removed.

not everything is made by miners, reprocessing works too so the game could function without miners entirely
>>
>>140779060

It would be extremely inneficient, considering the very low amount of reprocessable salvage you get
>>
I kinda want to buy a ''Factory'' Structure in my home system. There is a few stations in there but none with manufacturing. Keep the taxes at minimal fuel pay rate and let the locals use it
>>
>>140779371
I'm pretty sure theres a decent amount of items that are cost effective to reprocess, idk though I'm not into industry
>>
>>140779590
Cost efficient yes, but unless you get them as drop from rats, they were created by people before. Basically you'd be living on reserve, then when it expired minerals influx would be rats, and as such would be ridiculously low.
>>
If you're an enterprising individual you could try just farming high value items and selling them at jita -5%. According ti ccp at fanfest there is more "value" in the game than there is isk so with people being poor compared to the environment there's definitely a market for cheaper goods.

Or you can hedge your bets in ichoriya and make fat margins on a select few items.
>>
>>140779590
My favorite part is how people that don't mine are the ones constantly complaining about mining, how they should change it, or how the game would be better if they removed it. Its like If I made a bunch of posts complaining about small gang or blob pvp, I don't do either of those things, my opinion on them is literally just damaging. I'm not sure what the goal behind the motive for asking for changes is, do they want to mine but just don't like how it is now? Do they want miners to start doing stuff they obviously don't want to do?

I get the impression that a lot of people that want changes to mining want it to be like exploration. If the people mining right now wanted to explore they would just explore, the reason they like mining, or at least the reason I like mining is that its a super "infrastructure" or "homely" profession. Like they could change it so that its more active or whatever, though I do like how mining is less personal than a lot of other professions, like I'm not just controlling a single pilot, I'm managing an infrastructure of many pilots and a booster, while also managing the facilities, the shipping, and maybe industry if I want to take it that far.

People might think multiboxing is just gay at its core, and I can understand that, if they could capture the feel of real mining right now and remove the multibox aspect it would be super cool. Right now mining feels like PI done right, its EVE RTS edition.

Like they could change mining so that instead of a mining barge shooting lasers it like sent out drones, that were kind of like probes, that you controlled remotely where mining itself instead of some gay ass minigame sorry explorers, it captured the feel of multitasking between a bunch of mini-characters that could scale to large numbers.
>>
I think by now you're just drinking the coolaid.

Mining is pretty much the lowest form of gameplay. You are bottom of the food chain. Please don't confuse being a herbivore with being anything more than it is. When corporations allow mining divisions its because the cost of your presence is outweighed by the benefit to the greater ecosystem. Some corporations literally forbid mining because it doesn't make you better at anything. Low barrier to entry and very low skill ceiling.
>>
>>140781359
you know what, as i started reading your comment i was thinking of how to retort but you pretty much convinced me your position was valid by the end.

maybe the thing that makes mining get my goat isn't that you have to be good at infrastructure and logistics and have a bunch of accounts in order to do it well - it's that coming into the game, it's a newbro trap. they hear "mining" and they get this idea of it in their heads. the problem is that their idea (cozy mining by themselves and upgrading their ship and modules continually a la diablo 3 or cookie clicker until they're space rich) doesn't match up with reality (economy of scale, multiboxing, boosting, markets, hauling), and they leave disappointed. the newbros leaving disappointed is what people don't like about mining, not the mining itself.

i bet many fewer new players hear "trading" and get the wrong idea and try it and are disappointed and leave. new accounts who want to trade, trade, and they train and learn and it scales and they get rich. and the people who don't like dealing with spreadsheets and graphs and margins know not to even start into something called "trading".

I'm not sure how to fix this.

i've got a soft spot in my heart for api-first developers
>>
>>140782009
Here's what I'd do.

Change survey scanners. They now function sort of like how planetary interaction scanning works, on an individual asteroid basis.
>scan the whole roid to see its mineral composition
>find an area to place a mining drill

Add in a deployable structure called a mining depot or something. It has cpu/powergrid and slots like a ship does. You then fit it with modules that increase
>drone bandwidth
>drone control range
>fuel hold size
>ore purity(bear with me)

This structure has drones that fuel the mining drills(you have to manually assign them to the drills), if a drill is mining in a highly profitable spot on the roid you may have to assign more than one drone to the drill or else the drill will halt with a full ore hold and be less efficient with its fuel and its mining speed), and take ore from the drill and put it in the mining depots ore hold. You can then minmax between
>how long it will run without refueling
>how fast it will mine (more mining drones for more drills)
>the mining range (more drone range means you can put it on roids that are father away)

The ore "purity" is of high import for this system idea because I think it would be cool to have a in between for ore compression/reprocessing that was a small enough m3 size and high enough value that pirate players would find value in crashing miners supply chains.

That brings me to supply chains. My idea would be for most of the players minute to minute gameplay to be managing from a management screen his many mining depots. He could then send out like mini-industrial drones to haul purified ore from the various mining depots and bring them back to the drilling platform.

It would be cool if they had random events that created a sort of priority management system instead of a timed rhythm. The idea being that you making a bunch of compromised decisions trying to squeeze efficiency in you mining operation that's far more hands on than PI.

Do you guys get the bar of soap in between your asscheeks and lather your butthole up when showering?

I do, but I am curious as to how many people out there actually wash their butthole when they shower as well.

I've used a svipul for whs in the past a bit, but this should apply to the confessor too. I've found its only really worth your time if you get lucky and find a c2 magnetar/wolf rayet since you dont make much isk/hr in the first place. you could probably net 60-100 mil an hour doing that

wrong
you should be playing aa2 or cm3d2 with a whore that has Reyni's likeness
