You know how you make a chick look beautiful? Put less detail in. The artist here has provided the 3d modeler with a cartoon in terms of the face. That doesn't help the sculptor at all, because they have to put the same amount of detail in for everyone. It's a fucking 3d model. The crafts are completely different. Say these drawings were the only given reference of what the face should look like? They're about as useful to a sculptor using their character builder as a smilie face.
If concept artists were proficient sculptors first and foremost, you'd be looking at very different drawings. Then there would be deficiencies in other areas that are no good.
You're complaining about the best this process can do.

Looking good is subjective, and the translation from real life to 3D isn't as wonderful as you would imagine due to lighting and movement.
I've worked with six faces scanned and placed into modeling software to place into a 3D worldspace and the results can be very unflattering. Likewise, a character modeled to look "beautiful" ingame would look horrendous in actuality.
It's just weird shit, Anon, and touching things up can lead to worse results.

I feel like when you get into Laser Artillery and how that would need to work, you've stopped arming The Minutemen and now you have "The BoS sans Power Armor".
I mean the point of the Minutemen is that it's ultimately a civilian's militia, they're never really going to be the Powerhouse that the Enclave was or the BoS, Institute, Legion, and NCR are. At least not for at least another ten years or so.
Even in my own ideas for a Minutemen upgrade, the best they'd get is rare dudes in T-45 armor and using old Naval Cannons and their rare functioning Vertibirds would solely be used to haul the ass to haul around VIPs (in otherwords: you, the General, and your companion)

I can't remember whom, think piper comments that its gets cold in the commonwealth. Making it more akin to what the southern US is like today. So it is within the lore for a mantis shrimp to have mutated and spread as far north as Boston.
Also in 4 itself lasers deflect off of mirelurk shells and they're also very durable against ballistic weapons. They however are very weak against explosives. A power armor using mirelurk shells in game as is, would probably offer near invulnerability to energy weapons, very high resistance to physical damage, probably break down to the frame after a direct missile hit or a few grenades.

Frankly been looking for a mod that made power armor seem less... well, you know, fucking rampant.
I still don't get most of Bethesda's design choices for 4. Like there's a lot of opportunities for straight up brilliance and then they go and do shit like leaving suits EVERYWHERE. I didn't bother going to Concord initially so the first time I found a suit next to a crashed vertibird I thought I hit the motherload by sheer accident, especially since it was a near-full T-51.
Imagine my disappointment when a stone's throw from there I found yet another frame with more armor.
Then another.
And so on, until I stopped using power armor mainly because the game kept handing it to me and it left a sour taste in my mouth -- which was a shame because I was pretty excited with 4's new interpretation of PA. For the longest time I wanted not only a solid reason NOT to use PA (I like the fusion core idea, even if it sorta shits all over the idea of the T-51 having a centuries-long battery life) when you have it available, but also that using it would feel like a significantly different experience from just wearing regular armor. You know, in that it makes you a walking tank.
It does at that, but with how easy it is to acquire? It felt less like I earned it and more like an "I win" button.
Well, regardless of all that at least it's all more visually appealing than NV's APA.

I can still use mods despite all the recent updates so all this talk of it disabling mods both confuses and worries me.
For a brief period after their Creation Kit/ public Survival patch they stopped working, but then after another quick fix they uploaded all was fine for me and it even showed up in their patch notes where they noted that it had caused the game to read the plugins.txt as being in the wrong folder.
Innocent mistake and thankfully not causing me any further trouble with my mods. I'm sort of wondering if the reason everyone's having issues is because they're just dummies that rely entirely on that NMM shit or something.

Did you make it read-only after the fact? Still not sure why they're not working for you. Try starting a new game that isn't on Survival and see if they're still not loading. If they aren't, it's not an issue with Survival and it's likely something else. Possibly a case of a misplaced plugins file, which was the issue I had before.

Honestly I ran with both though I focused on melee more. I use unarmed to keep from getting bored of just hitting things.
I simply started with the highest END and STR I could (more END than STR) and picked every perk that could up my survivability before opting for something to up my damage output, since in Survival things generally die faster anyway it's prudent to make yourself less likely to die immediately.
Wear the best armor available to you (that isn't power armor), no ifs ands or buts until you're so solid you're confident rushing into combat naked.
Also, and this is probably what's made me so cussedly tough -- Lone Wanderer.
I was rolling solo but if you REALLY need a companion, Dogmeat is fully compatible with it and will likely save your ass early on since he can trip up or tie up enemies with guns. Just be prepared to share your stimpaks if you really need him along. As it is I don't really use any for myself though and I think I have over 300 stashed somewhere, but early on they're pretty necessary.

I eventually got to Local Leader but I wouldn't call it a must. All you REALLY need is a place to sleep and stash your stuff. You can carry an ungodly amount of materials for armoring and weaponcraft if you're not carrying any guns or ammo (unless you're using ammunition as currency)... armorer is good since it will help you improve your armor, but you do know that's a STR perk anyway, right? If you can't take at least one rank of Armorer within your first few levels you're already doing something wrong.
Also, keep a variety of melee weapons for different occasions. Always smart to carry something heavy. You can get a sledgehammer SUPER early if you know where to look, but having a switchblade and then a proper combat knife is great for when speed is absolutely important -- and it can be if you're fighting something like mirelurks.

Yeah, dumbass, real melee is brutal, efficient, and quick, which is why training exercises like those are meant to train strength, endurance, and technique more than how you use it in a fight. Any given master swordsman might have fucked up and gotten shanked by a kid with a kitchen knife, but for the most part on training alone he's more LIKELY than an untrained individual to come out on top if blades were drawn.
THAT is the purpose of training in a specific martial art focusing on bayonets. Being able to recognize and react to movements and having the upper body strength to do so. It's not ALL simply charging at a straw dummy and impaling it, fucking anyone that's actually been trained to fight with a bayoneted rifle can tell you that.
Is that likely what you'd actually end up doing if ordered to fix a bayonet?
Probably. But in that situation all the other training might make a difference in a prolonged encounter against a similarly armed opponent.

If you're in bayonet range and the opponent has no means of fighting back you will win. This isn't fucking anime, if you have no melee weapon of your own or you're on the defensive, you run. Both videos posted were focused on training. One, mostly Eastern/Japanese techniques which the woman was using, recognizable as some of their common spear techniques, just with a shorter weapon. The second, Russian/Western bayonet techniques. You know what all three of those have in common?
No one is actively bayonetting anyone. The RESPONSE was made to point out that she's using valid bayonet training techniques. There's more than one way to "use" anything. You can "use" a weapon to train, not exclusively to attack someone. Had it been a clip from a film of someone attacking a person with a bayoneted rifle like that, it would be a valid fucking complaint.
