Minecraft for Windows 10 beta released, coded in C++.
FyberOptic ported the modloader "Meddle" to 1.9 snapshots.
1.9 has been released, and it's buggy as all hell. Contains The End revamp, beets, YMMV new combat, witch sounds and other features. Check the wiki for more info.
Team Cofh anounced that 1.8.9 modding is garbage https://twitter.com/TeamCoFH/status/709535352369909760 and that they won't be continuing. But they went ahead and started porting anyways so a fuss for nothing.

i change my mind, this is shit

why are there two copies of the fucking quest book
does it really think giving me a machine to make lava is better than just giving me a bucket of lava?

how about this
what's a good casual magic modpack with a clear set of goals to work toward, that ISNT a skyblock

I normally recommend regrowth when people ask for hqms, but that's basically a skyblock on the ground. A lot of people say blightfall is good. Mage quest is ok but it's dead and feels unfinished.

Ayy, what mod is it that adds elevators? Not a magical teleporting block, but like actual moving elevator platforms you can build?

It's driving me nuts having to build staircases in my growing factory, I want to use lifts to get up and down.

redstone in motion or remain in motion, one of the two, adds carriages that move blocks around, like redpower I think?
anyway, does cool shit, like elevators and doors really well. AND, you can stand on those moving platforms without experiencing weird clipping shit

A year or so ago, I decided to research which servers sell BuildCraft items. After browsing through two or so, I found one where the owner sold BuildCraft pipes while at the same time admitting in another thread that he thinks they're horrible and useless.

Pointing that out was enough to solve the problem. He did admit, however, that nobody bought any BuildCraft items.

are there ANY good mod packs out there, i'm not autistic enough to spend a week tinkering with a java game
>>
>>140679245
My favorite pack is git gud fggt
>>
>>140679245
i enjoy mine, not sure it's for everyone though. most people seem to demand thermal expansion or at least one high tech mod, but i don't have one.
>>
>>140679245
There's no one good modpack. Even if you don't want to spend a week, you need to have an idea of what interests you. So, what do you seek, anon?
>>
>>140679245
Seriously though it shouldn't take more than 45 minutes to build a pack. Tell us what you're looking for and we'll recommend you some mods.
>>
>>140684779
It depends on how well-made you want your pack to be, especially with larger mod sets - though diminishing returns are a thing.
>>
>>140684092

ok then.

lets start then, what about mods for a super hostile-type map that adds mobs/weapons but requires only vanilla materials?
>>
>>140684997
>mobs
Grimiore of gaia is really brutal, but it's also monstergirl weebshit. Primitive mobs is good, might want to disable the new creeper types if you dislike creeper holes all over the place.
>weapons with vanilla materials
Not much to choose from, balkans weapon mod is decent.

You might want runic/rogulike/doomlike dungeons for dungeons to fight and loot in.
>>
>>140685270

sounds decent.

i remember there being a mod that let you use shields & elemental arrows in combat, would you have any idea what it is?
>>
>>140685531
Mine and blade I think. Haven't used it but people here say good things about it.
>>
>>140685630

also, are there still different versions of mods for single player/multiplayer or did they get rid of that.

sorry i haven't played since beta 1.8.1
>>
>>140684997
quiverbow's nice. quivermob...well eeeh.i suppose if you enjoy losing everything to skeletons repeatedly.
>>
>>140684997
If you want to create a super hostile map, Father Toast's mods are nice vanilla-feeling expansions in that direction. If you want more weapons out of vanilla materials, I highly recommend QuiverBow (and QuiverMob to add mobs which rarely spawn with them).
>>
>>140685698
Nope, there is only one version now. I wrote up a barebones "how to install mods" in the last thread >>140424420 if you need some guidance.

How are you going to know what mods you want until you've tried playing your pack? I mean far and large, the mods you'd probably add midplaythrough won't wreck your save like other modded games.

Start a game and take notes on stuff you want to change later. Trust me, you're not doing yourself any favors here.

Mainly cosmetic and ones that make survival a bit more tough. I just don't want to build something and then find a mod that I like that would require me to rebuild it, or generate a world and find a mod that wouldn't work without making a new world.

What are some good modpacks for beginners?

I am new to mods for MC, and I dont really know what to download. Do you guys use modpacks or just install individual mods you like?

Also is 1.7.10 still generally the best/stable version for playing mods?

Sorry I'm such a noob, I'm just ready to move on from vanilla but don't know what to look for
>>
>>140774678
1.7.10 is the most reliable. As for modpacks, i'd just say fuck around in FTB infinity. Don't set it to expert mode or anything until you have a good grasp on mods.
>>
>>140774678
assuming you're starting with nothing but vanilla knowledge
1) download any large modpack that contains NEI and thermal expansion (FTB's Infinity pack is fine for this)
2) start up a creative world, go to youtube and watch a mod spotlight on NEI ( Not Enough Items ). Get used to using it, it's a must for almost any modded instance.
3) watch a mod spotlight on either Thermal Expansion or EnderIO and play along. Get accustomed to the common theme of power generator blocks, transfer systems for energy, items, and fluids, power storage blocks, and the ol' powered ore doubler and powered furnace.

>>

>>
>>140787196
A bunch but many releases ago. We like multiblock structures and prefer moving machines like quarries and windmills to static machines like computers and digital miners. Our biggest issue is the pacing, every pack its never worth it to invest in any serious power source, just B-line for the big reactors.
>>
>>140787824
Clearly the solution is to cut out reactors. That, or make reactors super !fun! like Reikas mods.
>>
>>140787824
immersive engineering or gregtech seem like mods you would like
>>
>>140788104
As far as I know there is no good alternative for endgame power. I'll look at reika but the problem isn't so much with the reactors as they are but no good alternatives along the way to upgrade incrementally instead of just going deep for the reactor.

>>140787824
Immersive engineering sounds right up your alley. Avoid big reactors, they are boring and too easy. Buildcraft is decent, railcraft has lots of stuff to make rail systems with moving parts. Mfr and thermal expansion are popular but I find them to be ezmode magic blocks that do everything. Ender io has excellent pipes and interesting power gen, but you might want to skip it if you enjoy figuring out how to connect all the pipes you need to a machine. Mekanism and quarries can be fun but leads to burning out faster as power and materials become a nonconcern relatively easily. I'd suggest disabling all quarry type blocks.

>>140788104
>endorsing furshit
>>
>>140788580
>>140788613

Ah well Thermal Expansion has upgraded their machines to allow upgrades and EnderIO is really good for long term energy options.

As for the big juicers, Take a gander at Immersive Engineering's Biodiesel Generator for a good endgame system.
>>

No, my problem is the turbine start visually glitching. Unless you look directly at them the actual block flickers between directions. Which direction they flicker to seems random, and not dependent on which way they're facing.

It happens with turnbines of even one block size.

>pro-DMR

It is like you want to be fucked in the ass. You only think about "pay-to-win" and think it is evil, sure it is evil, but what is worse is the manner in which it is being stamped out. You are losing rights with every new EULA and will continue to do so until MC is a forgotten game that no one wants to play anymore.

No one is forcing you to use pay-to-win servers, but Mojang is forcing your to not play them.

>>140821321
It was promised that early buyers of MC would have free access to all versions, including on different platforms for free forever.
It was promised MC would have an API for mods.
It was promised we'd have a massive overhaul of aquatic life.

I'm stopping there, but the list is nearly endless. These things either came from Notch and/or Mojang depending on the timeframe.
>>
>>140826742
Notch left exactly because of shit like this.
And with him, left his promises.

There is nothing we can do. We cannot stop the inevitability of whatever it is Microsoft wants.

And so we must accept it for what it is.
>>
>>140826742
>Idiot who never read the EULA confirmed

You do realize the old EULA didn't permit any form of server monetization at all right? Mojang literally changed it to try and meet the mongloids halfway. What did they do? They lied to their playerbase telling them that the old EULA did permit it. They deserve far, far worse than what they are getting.

>It was promised that early buyers of MC would have free access to all versions
This part is true.
>including on different platforms for free forever.
This part is bullshit. The term "versions" was used meant shit like patches, future updates, shit other companies would try to sell you as DLC and add-ons for the original game.
Console Minecraft is a whole other game, not a different version. Multi-platform games offering you every edition for free when you purchase a single one is the exception, not the rule, why the fuck do you expect Minecraft to be the same?

>It was promised MC would have an API for mods.

These rules have been in Mojang's EULA for fucking years. Take down your p2w server already and stop whining.

Notch casually mentioned that he might make it open-source one day, not Mojang. He made that promise when he didn't have a staff of dozens of people that would lose their jobs if he just tossed out the source code to anyone. Grown-ups have to make grown-up decisions.

A mod API wouldn't be secure. When Minecraft went from a fad to a worldwide phenomena they had to change their policies on allowing external code on peoples' machines, because they became legally responsible for what they did.

They added underwater temples. What did you expect, Atlantis?

seed?
any coords?

>>
I'm working on a biodiesel setup. I've got two silos set up filled with seeds and melons. I plan to run conveyors from the silos over to where I'll be building the squeezer and fermentor. My fear is either of these machines getting backed up after leaving the system running for a while, thus causing a back up of seeds/melons on the conveyors.

I'd like to get something to shut off the flow from the silos when this happens. Ideal would be a comparator signaling when it's almost full, but they don't seem to interact with the industrial squeezer/fermentors.

My only other thought was setting up a buffer chest in the line and having that output a signal when it was partially full, though getting that output the items to the squeezer properly could be a challenge sticking to conveyors / IE shit.

Any thoughts?

>>140834982
Assuming they are automatically harvested, you can put them in a barrel, then use itemducts to pump from the barrel into the machines.

Jeb announced that MC:PE is getting a BUD block, and that it'll eventually be ported to MC:PC.

This isn't the first time this has happened, so it sounds pretty official to me: MC:PE/Win10 is now the main branch for Minecraft development, and MC:PC gets the leftovers.

Seriously, this shit's the closest analogue to a "stolen" product you can get digitally. Even piracy's better, because at least the users and distributors aren't making money from it.

that happens because the MCPE team is actually made out of competent programmers, unlike Mojang

>>
>>140834982
If you want a pure-IE setup, you can put metal barrels collecting the outputs of the squeezer and fermenter and put comparators on them to measure the fluid level. Then use that signal to turn the silo outputs off.
>>
>>140839128
Sadly metal barrels only store 12 fucking buckets and are utterly worthless for anything that doesn't involve moving fluids around.
Use that multiblock tank instead, it looks great and holds 512 buckets but I don't know if it has comparator support.

I'd like to make it so you can eat it right off the cob, or make popcorn, use the kernels for seed to make more corn, and eventually add it as an alternative method of getting ethanol/vegetable-based oil.

also thinking of adding turnips once this is done as an alternative food for livestock, obviously as food for the player as well, and neat lanterns like pumpkins that are more torch-sized. probably add that in as an alternative vegetable oil as well.

It always burns fuel at the maximum rate unless disabled by a redstone signal. It is basically a giant Buildcraft engine.

If you have EIO, build a capacitor bank and a power monitor, and set the power monitor to Engine Control and hook it up to the generator's redstone port.

If you do not have EIO, put a comparator on an IE capacitor and use that to control the generator. It'll flip on and off rapidly and cause all kinds of noise and lag, so you'll want to build an analog to the power monitor out of whatever circuit parts you have in your modpack (BC gates, P:R components, CC programs, etc...)

Using an MFR grinder and was hoping to use a tesseract to power it and take the items and mob essence back.

It gets power fine and takes the mob essence but the it doesn't count as a valid object for the grinder to put items into. I tried moving the tesseract and putting a chest on the back to hold the items which works but then the tesseract wont take items from the chest with an item duct.

I was hoping to start going wireless in a few key areas but I can't figure out how to do that in this case.

>>
>>140979703
yeah you have to put a chest of some kind on the grinder, or a pipe that has an inventory. I don't know how the import buses work exactly, but they appear to lack an internal inventory of sorts.

i have no idea really. the grinder works fine with item ducts and conduits
>>
>>140979703
>>140979912
The problem is with the tesseract communicating with the import bus. It was taking items from the grinder just fine but it couldn't put them through the import bus without dumping into a chest first. A little basic but its working now.

Thanks.
>>
>>140980638
>import bus

FYI, import buses are mostly unnecessary. They're good for mass importing items because they pull the items themselves - and will do it rather quickly with accel cards!

However, if something else is pushing items (like the Tesseract), all you need is an ME Interface. It has a 9-slot inventory, and any items pushed into the inventory are imported.

You can replace the chest and import bus with an ME Interface.
>>
>>140981689
Interesting. The way I was taught, you needed imports and exports for everything and interfaces were only for attaching to crafting machines to act as an import and hold patterns.

It looks a little bulkier but saves on cable. Also if it can work as both in and out for crafting machines than I can clean up my factory a little bit.

I'm assuming fluid interfaces work the same way? I can avoid using fluid import/export buses when using an interface?

> interfaces were only for attaching to crafting machines to act as an import and hold patterns.

Driving a crafting machine is just one of the ME Interface's many functions. They also act as an import and export point, and can join two ME subnetworks together using a storage bus.

Any items piped into the ME Interface are imported. Similarly, the ME interface can be set to export items into its internal inventory using the "arrow" slots - I use this feature to keep my SAG Mills supplied with grinding balls via an item conduit that moves the balls from the interface to the mills.

Pic related is another use case. The ME interfaces are driving Thermionic Fabricators; the itemduct with the Retriever on it pulls the crafting results out and pushes them into the interface. The interface on the left is set to keep a stack of Sand in its inventory, and the itemduct with the filters on it will pull the Sand out and push it into the Fabricators. The Filters make sure that no more than a stack of Sand is put into each Fabricator. (Items pushed into the top of the Fabricator will first go into the sand/glass slots if possible, and then into the main inventory.)

If I were bored, I could rework this setup to use only a single interface to drive all of the fabricators, by setting the interface to "drive" a chest, and then routing the crafting components to the correct fabricator. But then I'd have to deal with the way they all use Redstone, and make sure it only gets sent to the one that's doing the crafting by keeping 2 redstone in each fabricator and using filters with a max stored setting of 2... yuck.

This is why I like to use ME Interfaces in the full block form instead of the flat panel. I wrench it to tell it which direction the crafting machine is in, and then I can use the other sides for importing/exporting.

> I'm assuming fluid interfaces work the same way?

Yup.

Hey! Someone remembered about the HyperSpawner project. I still am yet to build one in survival (Run out of creativity once I get to the Thaumcraft stage, that mod is fucking aids on a stick but nothing else adds blocks like the Corporeal Attractor) but it's a real powerhouse of a system that can be 100% Self sufficient as far as power goes.

The concept is simple: 24 15x15 platforms, conjoined together in a ring, to take advantage of minecraft's pack spawning system. Unlike spawners that can spawn 1-4 mobs per long cycle, this will attempt to spawn up to 6 mobs EVERY GAME TICK. The place that the system grinds to a halt is killing the mobs fast enough, I'm not sure how to fix that. The original design uses two MFR Grinders pointed at the central point, which has a Corporeal Attractor underneath. It drags mobs to the grinders, and the grinders do the rest.

In response to >>140891970 all I have to say is that conveyors block natural spawns (which this system relies on) and fans disallow for the modular system to work as it does. Building it in a ring lets me be at the perfect distance away from the spawn pads to allow natural spawning, and the modular design lets me build only a few at a time if needed for server power reasons. Plus, Conveyors are slow and they need to move things one way to a central spot, of which mobs can jam up on. This system, everything condenses perfectly to one spot, quickly, and there's no chance for the mob to "run against" the conveyors. Plus, do you want to build 216 Conveyor Belts PER MODULE?
>>
>>141002085
openGL is fine its Minecraft and Forge that are re-fucking-tarded.

>>141002461
w--well yeah I could make the whole mod integrate with Agricraft, ie. how Fatcraft does, but is otherwise stands on its own.
>>
>>141003390
>conveyors block natural spawns

I meant the ExtraUtilities conveyors. They do not block spawns. If you put Packed Ice below them, they move the mobs at hyper speed.

>killing the mobs fast enough, I'm not sure how to fix that

Equip an Autonomous Activator with a TiCon Scythe.

>Building it in a ring lets me be at the perfect distance away from the spawn pads

The minimum distance for spawning also extends vertically. Build it 24 blocks above you, for example.
>>
>>141004157
>ExU Conveyors
But if we have ExU, why not just build my design, and make the floor Cursed Earth?

>Autonomous Activator with a TiC Scythe

I was thinking something with either RFTools teleporters (Moving the mobs to a killing chamber) or with the Diamond Spikes (Enchanted with XP Booster, Looting, and Reaper for maximum harvesting) and Vacuum Hoppers/Chests. I would love for this to be a powerless design, but that'll have to wait for someone a little brighter than me.

>Build it 24 blocks above you

I build it at Y=220, so to be out of range of spawning things on the floor or in caves. No perimiter needed. Also, you can possibly also build this in The Last Millenium if you felt frisky enough, or a Mystcraft age, or an RFTools dimension.

It's designed to be an AFK grinder, not a "Let it run as you mull about your business" grinder. Though building 9 modules above your base can also work, but would have diminished returns from spawns outside and in caves.

I need large batteries. In the billions.
>>
>>141021126
A max size Draconic evo battery can store more than MAX_INT rf.

EnderIO capacitors gang together into a multiblock, 40 of the best one gives you a billion RF.

And if you really want to abuse the machinery, some RF pipes (fluxducts and Mek cables in particular) have a bit of RF storage that you can kind of use as a battery.
>>
>>141021438
>>141021126

Thermal Expansion's Resonant Energy cells hold 50M each and transfer at 10K RF/t. It would take 20 to reach 1 Billion.

Anyone experienced with AE?

I have a working MFR spawner/grinder system that I supply wirelessly with a TE Tesseract connected to my mains and an ME Fluid/Interface combo. It Sends the power the spawner and grinder need and it takes the items and mob essence back but I can't see a way to make the fluid interface also SEND mob essence to feed the spawner. I attached a fluid export bus to the tesseract which works fine but I was wondering if I was just missing some functionality of the ME fluid interface.
>>
>>141021438
The thing, though, is that I don't want a bunch of extra bullshit, thats why i asked if anyone knew of an rf battery mod.
>>
>>141021670
But the 10k RF is per energy cell. You won't always get the full 200k RF transfer rate from 20 cells because fluxducts don't distribute energy evenly. The capacitor bank increases its transfer rate as you add capacitors. A 40 cap bank can always transfer 1M RF/t.

The cap bank can also charge items, work with power monitors, yadda yadda.

>>141022247

I'm >>140984730

The fluid interface has a similar function to the regular interface, it can be configured to store fluids in an internal tank. It does not push the fluids out, so you will need to use a fluiduct and servo to move the fluid from the interface to the tesseract. Note that it has one internal tank for each side of the fluid interface, so you will have to configure the correct side for pumping fluid out.

Thanks. I'm the same guy you answered earlier.

I was thinking about using another face with a fluid duct but because I already had a bunch of extra export buses from re-tooling my set up so I just used that.

The interfaces only pull, not push. I thought The item interface could push because of the directions when wrenching but I found out now that it is just a way to stop interaction with other networks or blocks that are adjacent.

Thanks for the help.

>>141023862

>>141023204

>>
>>141023862
>>141024120

Yep. Wrenching the interface tells it which direction to push when it drives a pattern. It also stops it from connecting the ME network in that direction, so you can do stuff like stick an interface on an interface to make crafting requests to a subnetwork.

You can use that to do stuff like have a subnetwork with a formation plane to grow crystals by dropping items in water. Or make a pure-AE inscriber setup by putting all the inscribers on a subnet and using import/export buses to move stuff in and out of the inscribers.
>>
>>141024335
One last question along this line. The fluid interface keeps an inventory of 10000 mb before putting it into a fluid storage storage slot. Is there a way to get it to transfer the liquid immediately without keeping an inventory aside from using import buses or fluid ducts? A 10 bucket buffer is more than fair trade off for the cleaner design.
>>
>>141025285

It will only keep the 10 buckets in its tank if you have set it to keep that fluid in the tank. Otherwise, it empties the tank into ME storage as soon as the fluid empties.

If you haven't told it to keep that fluid in its tank, then I'm not sure why it would wait for the tank to fill before sending the fluid to ME storage.
>>
>>141025673
Yeah, I did tell it to hold that fluid. In my first set up I wasn't sure if it needed to be told which fluid to pull or if it would just take whatever it could get and then I forgot to try without the specified liquid.
>>
>>141026106
If you are just inserting fluids into the interface, you don't need to set a fluid. Any fluids sent into a tank that has no fluid set will be imported.

If you are extracting fluids from the interface (e.g. using a fluiduct and servo) then you do need to set the fluid that will be exported into the interface's internal tank. The interface will always try to have 10 buckets of the specified fluid ready to be extracted.

If you are doing both, then you should be inserting the fluid into a side that isn't set to store a fluid.

>Sadly, that's all the modding ecosystem seems able to support right now.
That's because modpack makers have settled with one-upping each-other instead of innovating, just like the modders themselves are.

Just by including CustomNPCs in your pack and giving them some basic scripting instead of using their stock roles you can open up a bunch of new opportunities for different modpacks, modpacks that don't involve making "crafting bench +1" for 90% of your play-through or making everything out of nothing.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be many CustomNPC scripting tutorials around, meaning some programming knowledge is required. It's a shame, really.

>why don't you make it yourself?
After a few hours of messing around with basic scripts I had proof of concept for a basic Harvest Moon-like modpack. Unfortunately, I'm not made out of free time.

Kay so you know how most good buildings draw the viewer's eye along certain paths? What you gotta do is figure out where those paths are and interrupt them.

The human brain is a pattern recognition engine. It gets a sick thrill off of picking out patterns out of random noise. When you interrupt that process halfway through (lead the brain down one path but suddenly cut it off), it leaves the viewer with a sense of dissatisfaction that can be described as "disturbing."

- Warehouses full of loot and worker zombies
- Decayed office buildings full of better loot and businessman zombies
- Dried up or polluted oceans
- Worker tenement housing (also filled with zombies)
- Fallout-type vaults that might have unpolluted water and food
- Midbosses in the form of Zombie Factory Foreman or Skeleton Director of Human Resources (of trivial difficulty)

Biomes that make things look polluted, just colors on their own can really put in some work.
Throw in some lilypad type items as water garbage.
Throw in some blocks of garabge and scrap as piles or mountains of trash.
Have some biomes that are overly polluted give debuffs, like poison, hunger, or even wither for the really bad ones.
Throw in some armor thats specifically there to prevent the debuffs.
Have very few, VERY FEW mobs, and have them be very strong. Only the strong survive the wastelands.
Maybe add in sentient garbage robots that act like pigmen and dont attack until provoked, or have the opposite of spiders and have robots that only attack when therye in high light levels.
I'm mostly agaisnt zombies and skeletons, sick or otherwise wrecked villagers would be better, have them be agressive, and have there be many in refuge camps or something.
Add wolves that are outright agressive as well, feral dogs and all that.
Add in a paradise biome as well, have it be rare, and loaded with foods and all that, or even biodomes, biodomes would be much better, I think.

The way you go on about your ideas makes me think that its less of an industrial wasteland and more of a post apocalyptic new york. If THAT is what youre going for, add lots of rats and pigeons.
Throw in a car type of vehicle, or add flans compat for cars.
various types of stores with barely anything in them.
A type of pressure plate or block that activates a redstone signal wirelessly within a perimeter when stepped on to trigger things like cave ins or swarms of enemies.

Or alternativly, have the entire dimension, barring some summoned bosses, be completely devoid of life. No plants, no animals, no enemies, nothing. Have large empty quarries, make ore extremely rare underground, maybe add glenns gasses support for added danger.

>>

Project Red is shit made by a guy who stole Immibis's Red Logic without crediting him, and broke it up into six pieces to make lots of ad bucks.

Blue Power is worse shit, made by an FTB shill specifically for FTB so that they would have direct control over balancing it in their packs.

There's not a good alternative. Just use 1.4.6.

I connect once and block it with whatever I want if need be, it automagically converts with EU, they're WAY cheaper to make than conduits especially on ecksthpert mode AND they have decent range for the minimal resource investment.

so, yeah, I use them pretty much everywhere I have machines.

It's more that most mods that have their own versions of them also try to add more shit to their functionality. For example, those terrain smashers from Thermal Expansion: they work automatically breaking a block once every second, and while you can make them need a redstone signal, sometimes a short pulse isn't enough to trigger them for some reason.
>>
>>141070395
Yes, that's because Thermal Expansion believes in removing everything associated with lag - that includes excessive use of Timers. In fact, the lag caused by redstone timers was the primary reason MJ was created to begin with.

With ME crafting sometimes on a complicated pattern it will just stop working and wont start again even if I clear the pattern and start it again.

It isn't incorrect patterns holding it up (because they were working before the stall) and it isn't exactly related to being out of materials (each piece that can be assembled has its own pattern and all of the base components exist in huge numbers.

Is this a bug or feature? If it was my network being over burdened why does the stall seem to happen at random and why wont it recover when I drop the pattern?

It was for sure the number of items per drive. They had all filled up so I threw out a bunch of single items I no longer needed like armor from older mob grinders and trivial crafting items.

Now it keeps stopping because of a critical shortage of silicone but that is a supply issue.

Trying to make a 16M storage drive which I have all the components for except that each processor needs silicone which is 9 raw plastic which is 9 rubber cooked up one at a time which is 9 glue cooked 1 at a time which is a 50% chance from sawing up rubber tree wood. The crafting network can do it, it's just slow so I am taking this time to get a rubber tree farm running again for more wood and some raw rubber and then adding a sub-network for making silicone only to help keep up.

Every other material is just sitting there waiting.
>>
>>141086646
The funny part being that 16M is massive storage space compared to what I have but it doesn't address my actual space issues because it still only holds the same number of unique it ID's

RP2 had lag but what did you expect? You were putting fucking tile entities with complex rendering everywhere. Project Red used FMP, which was WAYYYYYY worse on performance, if you recall.

Lex came on to fix bugs, that's all. He was the last man standing. He used that time period to get control of the servers and repositories, taking Forge from a multi-member team to a dictatorship overnight.

The same people haven't worked on Minecraft that whole time. They hired several retards out of the modding community.

I want to feel bad for eloraam about that, but if you hold off on updating when your mod is one of those "super popular nobody wants to not have it" mods, through multiple version ups, and have a habit of bitching at people to not do stuff in their own mods because "you're gonna add that to your's eventually", you kinda set yourself up for it.

same view I've taken on xycraft; soaryn ain't updating SHIT, so if someone else is gonna do the same thing he was doing, he should shut up and deal.

the irony of the "ripping off RP2" is that most of the big techmods these days are clones of eachother because FTB got everyone expecting to always have pretty much the same tech shit in every pack, every mod, etc.

I have an AE crafting pattern for a big meta meal item. All of the sub pieces have their patterns and each piece works properly because I tested each one.

When autocrafting a single one of the meal there is never an issue but when I try to craft a stack, about halfway through it will stop and wait for an ingredient I don't have but that it can easily craft. If I auto craft that item the meal recipe starts back up with no issue.

Why does it do this?
>>
>>141097219
I just noticed it stalled again waiting for the same item a few meals after I had auto crafted a bunch. I took them out and put them back into the system and it started again. This is a bug right?

it depends on how you have your patterns arranged in your interfaces. get an ME interface terminal and arrange your patterns vertically by related item. so for example, you'd put a recipe that makes something simple like fries before something more complicated like fish'n'chips.

I think its that one anyways. its NOT the pattern terminal, nor any other. pretty sure the Interface terminal

That's dope, I will do that next time for sure. I'm not sure stack sizes are an issue with an AE computer as far as space is concerned. I'm under the impression that it stores by ID rather than a physical stack but most of my 1's and 2's were crap from when I started that I didn't need so I just tossed it but i'm sure it will help next time I start a new map.

JeanGlassmaker. They're also the new overseer of Metallurgy, and have contributed to a few other mods.

Strangely, this is all hard-coded in, and there's no configs to turn up/down certain things.

I'm not 100% on this, I've only heard it from a youtuber
mind this guy actually knows AE2 quite well, I'm the weak link here, but arranged vertically the network will sequentially complete crafts, whereas horizontally it will attempt to craft everything at once. That's how I understood the explanation at least, but I'll go read some docs and a test in a creative world would nail down the specific quirks

I have no idea how to use the fluid crafting chamber

damn anon, is this Infinity Evolved, is expert mode IE just gregtech on?

I'm looking to get back into it, we used to play Ultimate back in the day but IE seems to be the go to looking in these threads lately. Haven't really checked it out yet though.
I was using some comparison site but man it's hard to compare a list of 200 mods and 4 packs, I was almost set on going for ProjectGreg for that, but noticed it didn't have Thaumcraft which my friend would want to play if we got back into it.
>>
>>141102859
IE:Expert is just as you expect: Gregtech'd to allfuck.

There's even a Skyblock variant that adds Ex Nilho and such, and ONLY comes in Expert mode. So a log is equal to two sticks, if you craft it down.
>>
>>141063607
what mods adds those wires?
>>
>>141102760
You mean the order of the interfaces physically in the world? I can't see how that would work because not all patterns follow the same crafting order anyway. As for the location of the patterns within the machine there is no vertical option it is one straight line horizontally.

I'm still working on this too but I can't really account for how sporadic the interruptions are. It's not intermittent power loss or changes to the network for sure.

Just got my rubber tree farm back up and running. I tried a forestry system but it wouldn't take the saplings. If it was banned from this pack I don't know why because it works with MFR and it is obscenely cheaty. I already have over 2k rubber and more than that in logs that I can be sawing up for more glue.

Cheers anon, you've easily saved me a few more hours of looking at mod lists.
>>
>>141103731
This is with a 3x3 area, none of the machines has any upgrades.
>>
>>141103731
Rubber from IC2 or Minefactory?
>>
>>141103431
did you make the Pattern Terminal? That SHOULD have a GUI that can let you arrange your patterns.

>>141103238
Immersive Engineering.

>>141102859
Infinity Evolved is basically a kitchen sink pack with an optional Minetweaker loadout to do as >>141103024
said.

There's a little more to it than that, though; all the magics mods pretty much rely on each other's mechanics and items to Make More Stuff.
A handful of creative items have recipes to give super-end-game goals to players. made in that 9x9 crafting grid mod of course.
The tech mods are pretty microcrafty but there's plenty of ways to get around that with workbenches and such.

The first couple hours are pretty grindy--I've never built Flint tools before ecthspert mode--but it has a nice feeling of a steadily increasing feedback and ramp-up of what you can do.
>>
>>141104438
MFR

>>141104524
There isn't anything called a pattern terminal. The patterns go in the Assembler chamber for shapeless/shaped crafting and go into the appropriate interface if it needs to be put into another machine like a furnace.

AE2 got rid of the assembler chamber thing m8.
Crafting is shitty as fuck.
No cool multiblocks anymore.

>>
>>141106460
The items just say Applied energistics. Not sure the version.

The assembly chamber is a multiblock but it relies on other mods for their processing buildings aside from the liquid crafting chamber which is a choice addition because its a pain to keep track of patterns that require a specific liquid in a specific container rather than just letting it pull the right amount from the liquid storage
>>
>>141107176
then you're probably using AE1.
Meaning most of the advice people give you isn't going to work.
>>
>>141107525
Nothing has hurt so far. Still no answer to the intermittent stalls though.
>>
Baubles Minus Botania update
Pros: it doesn't crash, and most of the items work
Cons: I broke all the particles and don't know how
>>
>>141108629
>I broke all the particles and don't know how
is that really much of a con though?
>>
>>141108884
It just means things like no effects on magnets rings and such. It's not the worst thing that could have gone wrong.
>>
>>141103024
>So a log is equal to two sticks, if you craft it down.

A sawmill will get you six planks to the log instead of two.

A Block Cutting Machine will get you three sticks to the plank instead of one.

Next thread, put /mcg/ in the subject panel. Otherwise, good discussion as usual.

Your nostalgia google are strapped a bit too tight, friend. RP2 was one of the worst things that happened to minecraft.

>>141110405
When given a means of transporting items instantly, you did the least logical thing and placed all of your machines right next to each other.
>>
>>141110802
It's only later that the chest with three import buses hits you.
>>
>>141110790
i made a server recently just to play with RP2 again
it was great, too bas the other mods were meh due to being outdated
was also a pain to find old mod versions and documentation for those

Any mods that help building? Like placing multiple blocks, etc. For 1.9 or 1.8.9

BC for copying structures etc, for regular building: equivalent exchange(projectE), just cheat in the building tools and don't use any other features of the mod

How did you deal with the recipes needing manasteel, runes and whatnot? And what about the mana consumption for some of those?
By the way, great job.
>>
>>141112223
helper tools has a lot of useful stuff for building.
>>
>>141115384
Recipes can be changed pretty easily, so you can craft runes with normal items. However, i'm not sure about the mana consumption. Think he may have just removed the need for mana.
>>
>>141113131
worldedit and voxelsniper are amazing if creative is an option

Recipes have been straight up removed for the time being, until I add some new ones.
Mana cost has also been removed.

That's a shame, at least compatibility isn't as much a problem.
