Story titles usually sell like shit whether they have porn or not. Steam isn't going to completely change that. It can help a game sell more, but high cost story titles are still a bad idea.

I haven't played it, but from talking to people who like it and aren't obsessed with the word "prose", Acta est Fabula completed the game and resulted in a satisfying plot. Masada's prose is above average, but the plot and the build-up are the strong suit of Dies irae. And as someone else said, the character prose is good, not merely the narrative prose. It's not like certain other talented VN writers whose characterization can come off as weird and annoying.
That said, check your expectations, since Dies irae is just an 86 on EGS, and the prose isn't that impressive, before Acta est Fabula it wasn't that well regarded, and Acta est Fabula didn't exactly take the internet by start the day it was released. There are also reports of inconsistent pacing, but if you play long VNs you should have some tolerance for that.
