Yeah he's been 'planning' working on uBlock support for Thunderbird for one year, three months and counting. Still waiting for the construction of his legendary 'development machine' to finish up.......... Any day now.........

Thunderbird is made by Mozilla so that means he's worked on a Firefox project and uBlock works on Chrome too so that'd mean he's worked with Google, y'know? The math checks out

>>
>>140427670
Spicy detail:

>don't think it is a cist, but I am not a doctor. My doctor acted like there would be physical evidence of something like that.

Cancer would probably have a bump or something on the testicle, and there are no physical indications of anything like that. No lumps, swelling, redness, etc. Can't necessarily rule it out, but I highly doubt it (thank God).

I have not had any symptoms except pain, so I am going to wait for the test results of my urine analysis and MRI/ultrasound and see what happens.

I suppose it is possible I injured myself, but I feel like I would have noticed it if I had. I don't necessarily do that much physically, I mean, I exercise and stuff, I just am not a very physical person.

I'm sure most of us have had experiences similar to yours, so I wouldn't feel bad about knowing stuff like that. :)

Most games only break w/ OpenGL 1.78, there's mostly only some graphical issues w/ GL2 Tweak (issues that are present in 1.78 too) AFAIK.
Out of my small collection of games I tried, those broken on 1.78:
Ape Escape (black screen/hang)
Chrono Cross (hangs after menu)
Fear Effect 2 (hangs during intro)
Formula One (black screen/hang)
Gran Turismo (black screen/hang)
Legend of Dragoon (black screen/hang)
Medievil (hangs during intro)
Silent Hill (hangs after intro warning)
Tomba 2 (black screen/hang)
WipeOut (hangs loading track)

Broken on both:
Crash Team Racing (intro image doesn't go away)

Broken on GL2 Tweak:
Dragon Quest VII (Menu is broken)

Graphics issues w/ 1.78:
Crash 1, 2, 3 (texture transparency issues)
Dino Crisis 2 (texture issues)
King's Field 0, 1, 2 (polys stretching over the screen)
LSD (polys stretching over the screen)
Metal Gear Solid (lots of stuff)
NuPa (texture transparency issues)
Pepsi man (polys stretching over the screen)
Quake 2 (polys stretching over the screen)
Silent Hill (polys stretching over the screen)
Skullmonkeys (texture transparency issues)
Twisted Metal 2 (polys stretching over the screen)

Graphics issues w/ GL2 Tweak and 1.78:
Gex Enter the Gecko (poly seams)
Gran Turismo (texture garbage)
Spyro 1, 2, 3 (poly seams)
WipeOut (poly seams)

Is this with the new improved GTE hack or with the old one?

I don't really know if adding perspective correction is a good idea with the software renderer, however if frankenbeetle becomes a thing it would be relatively trivial to implement in OpenGL.

Is this software mode? I thought PCSX2 just rendered Snake normally in the codec.
>>
>>140476880
No, it's GL hardware mode. All CRC hacks disabled. New WIP hack to handle games with that particular style of post-processing. https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/issues/1318

This is what Prince of Persia does behind the scenes, which is a nightmare for PCSX2 to try and deal with:

>copy the framebuffer 0x0 to 0x2300
>channel shuffle: move the red channel (0x0) to others channel (0x2300)
>change brighyness of 0x2300 to 0x0.
>texture shuffle: move RGBA_RGBA_... (0x0) to RRGB_ARGB_A...(0x2300) (I think, dunno if it wrap at the end)
>use alpha channel of 0x2300 to render into 0x0
>channel shuffle: move the blue channel (0x0) to others channel (0x2300)
>>
>>140476750
>>140476880
Basically, ingame graphics now have accurate colour filtering, but the codec is green instead of brown-ish. So it's obviously mixing up a colour channel somewhere. Hopefully it proves easy to fix.

Performance doesn't seem exactly great, though, which is probably to be expected. Up until now, all the post-processing effects were hacked out. On the plus side, PCSX2 no longer eats shitloads of VRAM in games like MGS3 and GT4.
>>
>>140430580

I kinda empathize with him, it's true that formal mathematics are a bit daunting. They use ambiguous notation everywhere, obscure symbols that can have different meaning in different fields etc...

I find that it's generally simpler to find some code that does what you want and figure out what it does. Basically substituting programing language notation for mathematical notation.

Still, it's just like learning a new programing language, with some effort you manage to make sense of the notation and then the snippets he pasted become pretty trivial really.

I guess what I'm saying is that maths have a poor coding style.

I don't know if this is the accurate thread for this but I don't see a PS3 general up so my question is:

Can you play ntsc/j ps2 classics on a PAL ps3 with the ps2 classics manager?
Because I can regularly play PAL games on it but I tried booting Super Dimensional Fortress Macross(2001) on it and it just gave me a black screen while the ps3 was still on.
I tried googling but the official PS2 classics compatibility list doesn't list it at all and I can't find info on other NTSC/J PS2 classics for the love of mine.
>>
>>140486303
PS3 is region free for PS3 games, but region locked for PSX, PS2, and Blu-Rays. You either need to put CFW on the PS3 (this is not the place to ask for help with that and you probably won't even want to do it because it's a fucking task and a half), or mod a PS2 or PSX to take out of region games.

or emulate it~~~
>>
>>140486576
My PS3 already has CFW which is why I've been able to use ReactPSN and launch downloaded PS2 ISOs encrypted into PS2 Classics, but there must be a step I'm forgetting here.
I googled ps3hax and other forums for the last 3 hours but I haven't found a solution to my problems and it's kinda weird, it feels like google and the forums give me answers for completely different questions.
>>

Is your PS3 a backwards compatible launch model? Because if not, just assume that game isn't compatible with the software emulator like 90% of the library.

So apparently this game is absolutely godly, hard as fuck to find, etc. And every other post on emugen is about it.

Well I tried it in Dolphin. Given the reputation /v/ has for this game, and how apparently the sequel takes everything this game did and ruined it, I was pretty fucking hype to start playing.

What the fuck is wrong with /v/? Has it been 3 years since anyone here has actually played it? Is the rose tintedness THAT fucking strong with this game?

I've played this piece of crap for ten hours and holy FUCK I'm done.

>Movement speed is slow as fuck, even getting from A to B is a boring endeavour
>Cutscenes everywhere
>Forced in to what is essentially an affinity quest to recruit Sharla, then the same thing happens when I have to recruit Riki (who is an annoying little fuck so far, but thankfully not as annoying as that prick from the sequel)
>Soundtrack is dull as fuck outside of that track when Metal Face wrecks Shulks gf and the Gaur Field theme
>Battle themes are so fucking terrible I can't even have it playing
>Sound mixing is disgusting, even if I were to enjoy the OST I couldn't hear it over the fucking voices
>Combat is horrible, especially the monado foresight thing which punishes you for doing anything other than keeping the meter full at all times
>Side quests basically expect you to look up a fucking wiki to know what to do
>Voice acting is okay to laughable
>Shulks dialogue and monologues about "muhnado", which I thought were a meme, are absolutely fucking true and is his answer to everything
>That section in the mines contains, easily, the WORST piece of vertical platforming I've seen in a game ever, compounded by the fact that the game clearly wasn't designed for that shit
>I'm only 10 hours in (start of the forest area) and the game is already feeling padded as all fuck

Was I memed? What the fuck is going on?
>>
>>140501959
while i don't agree with some of your points i do agree that it's disgustingly overrated
a friend of mine kept telling me to give it a try, and so i did, and i never really got too far because it feels so sluggish all around
disaster was a better game on the same engine
>>
>>140501959

I don't want to start a console war but I'm pretty sure the fact that it was released on the Wii is the reason it's overrated. The same game released on an other console or even on PC would have been considered an average JRPG I think. Wii player were starved for "big" games so Xenoblade managed to become a must-have.

Unfortunately it's been that way with Nintendo consoles since the N64 basically. Nintendo fans are in the last stages of denial these days, we'll see if the NX manages to do better.

Also you aren't high level enough to experience the real horrific fault and that is once there's a difference of 7+ levels or so between you and an enemy the lower level party can't even hit the higher leveled one without insane amounts of accuracy gems

I agree, and so do many others. Which is why I think he isn't getting much help with porting to Android.

>>140528986
>I was just curious if zilmar was gonna wait until an ARM RSP dynarec or if he was just gonna HLE everything.
I highly doubt he will work on a ARM RSP dynarec. LLE is not ideal on android and zilmar never really did much for the x86 RSP dynarec, so I don't see why he'd do it.

>He's still gonna be boned without an ARM CPU dynarec, though.
This is true, especially since there are 32bit ARM devices and 64bit devices. So he may have to support both or pick one and not support the other.

Please don't take anything you read in that 4chan emugen thread as gospel.

We have lost many devs who would have liked to work with us simply because of comments made there by third parties which really don't reflect my attitude or stance towards these devs.

I only hang out on IRC freenode at #retroarch and anything else you read about regarding me or what I say about other projects/authors/etc/stuff is simply hearsay and should be dismissed out of hand. I'd encourage devs at least not to read that board and think anything being said on there is necessarily true, there are too many people at this point who simply like to instigate or try to create rifts. For what reasons I don't know, but it happens regardless.

Unfortunately while I think the emugen thread on 4chan can be a good thing, more often than not it does more harm than good when it comes to developer relations. But then devs should stop reading this page and think it is a fair reflection of what I am actually saying. I don't post on there. I am a strong believer in the value of anonymity on the Internet but even I have to admit it is sad that certain people sabotage anonymity and make it seem like a destructive thing so that only non-anonymous stuff like Facebook/Reddit/etc remains. There should be more moderation and better self-governance to ensure things don't turn toxic.

>Was I memed? What the fuck is going on?
People are absolutely starved for good JRPGs these days, and as terrible as the writing is, this was the best one to come out in years.
>>
>>140543042
From the thumbnail I thought that said "FOR YOU" in the center
>>
>>140544318
You'll never get a JRPG with good writing again because translations are of one of two stripes now, with decent amount being a mix:

1. Boringly literal jaunts that pick up all the stupid anime tropes of the original game's script.
2. Memetown garbage where 20something hipsters try to write the latest "le funnay reddit meme" phrase and insert it in the game.

No one is trying to put out a solid, well written script that replaces the garbage tropes in the original script like "he's fast," "we're coming with you...because we're your nakama!!" with relatively unique, non-memelicious writing.

Code of Princess: Preserved forever on PC. No emulation needed.

Porting is the ideal solution to the preservation problem. Get the code out of the hands of greedy rights holders and onto Steem Steem and Gogog
>>
>>140551537
Write an interpreter in C and it'll run on anything that can compile C code. Port a game to to a system and it'll only run on that system.
Ports are great, but for real preservation, emulation is the best way to go.

>Why do people say dynarecs are the easy parts of emu-building, anyway?
I'd argue that it depends. If you have a good amount of docs, then dynarecs are the hard part. But REing is harder than making a dynarec.

There are some emudevs that haven't even managed to write interpreters that are even as accurate as the docs... I really wonder who those people are who say dynarecs are the easy part. Chances are, those individuals probably don't code dynarecs.
>>
>>140572668
Weaksauce. An emulator without a dynarec is no good. I wouldn't even use an interpreter for a SNES emu... No point in wasting cpu cycles, especially if you're going for accuracy.
>>
>>140551537

PC is not forever though. Things eventually break, even though it takes generally much longer than on consoles.

>Get the code out of the hands of greedy rights holders and onto Steem Steem and Gogog

I don't think you understand what source code is.
>>
>>140573070

Because those people are clueless probably. There's also the fact that some devs look down on dynarecs, not because they're easy to do but because they're less accurate and not portable. They're also pretty tricky to maintain and debug. Nobody uses a dynarec if they can avoid it.
