As it is the cost of pure ess means that while people will still pay to actually train the skill no one will pay to craft lower level runes instead of buying them from the shop; the actual proper use of the skill is limited to nats laws and deaths; anything else and you're wasting cash and xp
Buying store essence would be equivalent to buying water filled vials for herblore if it was added and wouldn't influence the economy more than dropping the price of pess closer to the price of nats/laws
The other thing is that while it might open up runecrafting to the greater part of the server most people still wont do it because while it CAN be profitable the margins are bad and the skill is grindy as hell
The only people this would be bad for are the ones hoarding pess without using it and driving up the prices

Higher runecrafting levels allow for insanely fast creation of elemental runes. For instance, somebody with level 88 runecrafting can create almost 20 thousand air runes in a single hour from 2.5k essence

Go mine 1200 rune ess. From level 1 that gets you to level 30, when you can mine pess. Out of that rune ess, do:
- 1 run of airs
- 1 run of minds
- 1 run of waters
- 3 runs of earths
- 6 runs of fires
- make a body tiara and do 31 runs of body runes, now you're out of rune ess and are at 33 RC
- do the abyss miniquest
- suck it up and get to 44 RC with 1870 cosmics (get the agility for the shortcut, way faster than abyss) or 1760 chaos runes
This is literally the best you can do. Early levels go faster if you make tiaras too.
