I am very concerned about the current state of Kong and the Kong lords.
There are rumors, that Rather Dashing, the creator of Kong still has not received his invite to the official Kong Lord team for the upcoming 100.000 dollar tournament.
Meanwhile, steambirth such as Hucast have been invited to the team over an obvious Kong lord choice. Such actions degrade both the moral and performance of the Kong lords who are going to play in the upcoming tournament.
As one of the key Kong Lords, I had to express my opinion in this matter. I can't stay silent in matters like these on such grim times we are living right now.
Rather Dashing made Kong, then again he made Kong great again after the dark times of steambirth invasion. Such treatment towards the pillar of Kong is unacceptable. He is an Elder Kong lord and should have the respect of one.

In the time it takes for a clan medium laser to burn, a burn duration quirked IS mech will have finished nearly half a second earlier and will be torso twisting to spread that damage already.
Mad cats can vomit damage, but it's either spread, or takes a long time to apply, which means it'll be laughably easily absorbed by the defensively overquirked IS mechs.

If you see a mech in the store you like, toss the name into Sarna and find who makes it. Bear in mind that the Clan mechs use the Clan names rather than the IS call-outs for them. As you seem aware that IS and Clans are opposing factions and their mechs cannot be fielded together in CW, you're not as bad as most of the other steambirths who came here crying about "bugs" that prevented them from selecting the Clan/IS mechs they owned for their drop deck.
Generally speaking, the Clan mechs will be more rounded than the angular IS mechs. This was intentional design that the PGI artists went after for consistency not wholly present in the previous iterations of BT. The rounded IS mechs in MWO are composed of flat plates that angle into a generally round shape, like how an octagon is rounded, but is still not a circle. Clan mechs are actually round, and are the circle of the metaphor.
Image very related. Look at those round plates on the old Jenner. Now those round plates are reserved for the Jenner IIC only, to make the distinction between IS and Clans more apparent.
Notable exceptions are things like the Marauder however, which was still in-universe confused by IS targeting computers with the rounded Timber Wolf design.

I am perfectly happy playing MWO in it's current form. By gear, are you talking weaponry, chassis, random things to hang in your cockpit?
Generally, the way a given chassis goes in is:
1) Released for real money as a preorder. If you're quick, this also usually means some extras like modules and cockpit items, titles, etc. etc.
2) The chassis then goes to being available for MC. (Barring a lot of grinding, this is basically a lower real money price) After a while-
3) The chassis becomes available for C-bills (and F2Ps can grind it out).
Equipment that works with a given tech type can be bought with C-bills once you have the appropriate chassis to slap it onto. It's inevitably better to test-build on Smurfy before doing things in-game so you don't end up accidentally building something full retard and mourning the death of your in-game bank account.
Modules take GXP (global exp) to unlock and once unlocked can be bought for C-bills. Note that some modules can take an unholy fuckton of GXP and/or C-bills. Again, worth checking Smurfy.

Very special snowflake builds that can literally boat them like it's closed beta can use singles, but even if you can do that, it's a waste of tonnage to prove some kind of meme point. Upgrading to dubs would still vastly improve your robot.

I dropped five DHS in and got 25% cooling.
Also, as the other poster said, lose Ferro. Make sure to spend those last points of tonnage on armor. I'm not sure why you have 0.89 tons unspent. There's no advantage to it.
Otherwise, front-load armor in the CT like you've done in the side torsos. IIRC cockpits come with 10 internal health, meaning there's no reason to take max armor since 28hp still dies to dual goose. Personally I take between 8 and 12 armor depending on what I could alternatively spend the tonnage on, since with 12 armor you can still survive an AC/20 headshot.
Also remember that leg armor should almost always take priority over arms. The worst-case for losing an arm is losing the gun arm on a Cent or similar man mech. This is still nowhere near as bad as losing a leg. It also matters because good players will target legs over torso if the existing damage levels are equal, because you can't torso-twist legs nearly as well, and with Clans being here almost half the mechs you encounter can still fight with a side-torso gone. Armor those things up.

I feel the same. Shim Shams art is too blocky and clean looking. You can look up almost any mech picture hes done and it looks like he draws his mechs as stacks of cubes, and then adds detail over the cubes. Everythings so square and boxy, where as David White and FD give their designs a little bit of style and artistic flair.
Shimmys mechs remind of a hospital. Clean and sterile.

But for those level 2 shitmechs for one good chassis, I prefer solo queue and fast dying. Charge in. Pop UAV, swipe everything with laser fire. Die. Get into real game with decent 'Mech. When you're done with that, repeat shitmech rush.

PGI is removing cancer though. The Cicada and Stalker look loads better now that their weapons actually change. Sure they went through a period where they were using a butcher's knife instead of a scalpel, hence the Cent, but they're past that now.
