I was in the same position, its amazing the difference playing another merc can make. You could switch over to something like Sawbonez and practice positioning and tracking. Those things transfer to every other merc. Its not going to come quickly, I am still shit and get caught out all the time, this thread is not going to make you feel better either because its being going for so long its 99% willy waving and baseless bragging now.
The best thing I can actually suggest is to play more Skyhammer and watch other players. Also lower your sensitivity the limit that it feels comfortable.

The easiest is M4, but BR has more dps if your aim is good. LMG is viable but you need to learn to control the recoil and spread, you can't just hold LMB and spray.
And yea that is his best LMG card because of drilled.
Try M4 out on Skyhammer and if you have BR on Sky try that one out as well. Then choose your preferred gun.

The biggest reason people don't like him is that he's like Fragger, but worse, so there's no real reason for him to ever be picked over Fragger. His LMG is worse than Fragger's, his assault rifle is worse, his ability is worse, and his htibox is bigger.
Rhino is strong on certain maps on defense and Nader is better at area denial and better at flushing out choke hold points than Fragger. Both have their uses, but Thunder fills a similar role to Fragger, he's just worse at it, so there's never really a reason to pick him. If his concussion grenade had a stronger/more disorientating effect and lasted longer, like it really fucked people over if they see it or get hit by it, then he might actually have some use. And if he didn't get blinded or concussed by his own nade it would significantly boost his effectiveness.
Until then he doesn't really have a place. That said, I love the shit out of Thunder. I love the Timik, I love his LMG, I love his look and voice and he's super fun to play.

It is refreshing to see a game which has slightly cartoonish looking, but realistic characters with actual personality instead of being your typical bland virginbait.
Also Dirty Bomb's design is just about everything I've loved in shooters for the past 10 years, even down to how Health works. There will never be a health system that works better than this. It has regen so you can hunker down, but unlike Battlefield 1943 and most COD, it's slow enough that you can still hunt down enemies with low health/health still matters. Every time I stop playing I forget why I did and come back.
