Old Demon King is the easiest boss in the game by far. I beat him in one go just by kiting him around the corpse pile and shooting him with Soul Arrows every time he missed me.
There's something I didnt get about the lore lads. Was Pontiff Sully an ally of Aldrich or of the old gods? Was he the pope of Aldrich's religion?
Are bows any fun and/or viable in pve? Especially shortbows. The fact that you can't infuse them seems off-putting.

120 is way too high, it results in every build being too complete. 80 is fine for most builds but it basically tells casters to fuck off. 100 is a good compromise, you can specialize in what you want and still get a decent amount of vit/vig/end without becoming a godly master of all

Because straight swords carry people through PvE. In PvP they aren't as good due to range, but people don't realize that because the average nerd is also using a straight sword from PvE. Any weapon with range will best an R1 spammer because their R1 will get them staggered before even reaching their opponent.

So I fucked up my first playthrough terribly, missed catching seigward halfway down the elevator, accidentally joined fingers, didn't talk to yoel before he died, and went to farron keep before cathedral so tons of quests were fucked. Never even met patches.
I'm to yhorm on my first one and decided to make my second character already, but I think I might have already goofed. Found where sieg went this time, fought the demon with him, but now I'm to deacons and still haven't seen him again, or patches.
What did I do wrong this time? Do I find them after killing deacons?

Give it a little bit more time then. All the shit you mentioned (New Londo Ruins, Artorias, Oolacile) was late game. Try to remember how much story there was for Undead Asylum/Burg, Darkroot Garden, Valley of the Drakes or Blightown.

If you black crystal too much you are removed from the multi-player server. You will be forced to use the Way of White item which only has a single charge to restore your connection. The meta is already bad at 100. People mid rolling with Yhorms shield, full heavy armor and dark sword. Then full Smoughs with a full dual wield dex build + int lightning scaling. The builds are all too OP. I got here because I wanted to have heavy armor + my great club but it took me until 100 to get enough Vit to wear the armor I wanted. Now I'm full of regret.
I think 80-90 will become the meta.

The meta level should be designed so you can have 1 scaling stat cappped, plus all basic stats (Vgr, End, Vit, Att). That way single stat builds are at their best, while hybrid builds are viable but have to make sacrifices.

Cathedral did the shortcuts and general layout perfectly. You don't really feel lost, even though 3 areas shortcut back to 1 bondfire. Other places that do shortcuts gets confusing as fuck because they become a clusterfuck of different paths. No, SotFS actually fucks up a lot of things. It adds more enemies and most of the time it's just pointless. It's funny because one of DaS2's biggest criticisms was "more enemies doesn't equal harder in a fun way," yet with SotFS they decided to make that even more the status quo.
Plus, the enemies it adds tend to just be lazy. Remember the chariot fight? Would you like to fight the horse in drangleic castle? Why is there? Who the fuck knows.
Honestly, I'd stick with regular Dark Souls 2 and pick up the crowns DLC since they have actual competent level design and bosses. Only thing you might be missing out on is the pvp since a lot of people may have moved on to SotFS.

Sorcery has a rapier, MLGS, and some really cool spells.
Pyromancy is more consistently good and lets you use a certain spear, greathammer, and whip effectively. It even has a "grab attack" spell.Personally, I like pyromancy because of the Witch's Locks (whip). It's a really good weapon.

Dark Souls 1's fault is that it WAS unfinished.
Dark Souls 3 is finished, but the design is godawful. Your weapon choices include axes, straightswords and a small mountain of foam batons. INT and FAI have been utterly castrated in almost every capacity. Dark Souls 2's dumb tracking, overall enemy design is lazy.
It's a fun game, but definitely close to DS2. Its only saving grace is weapon memory instead of soul memory.

Why do people shit on shields in PvE? For bosses mainly. It takes a certain amount of skill to balance blocking, rolling and attacking since blocking eats up your stamina. I beat most bosses first try this way, even some that were supposedly tough like Twin Princes

Champion Gundyr 1v1 was the most visceral, intense fight I've enjoyed so far of the DaS trilogy.

In theory you can get anything in the game at low weapon upgrade, it just takes a long time. Not necessarily cheating. Hell, you can also drop items between friends.
