So far most of my invasions have been very balanced. In fact, most of the red phantoms that invaded me waved, waited for me to kill mobs, waited for me to heal, and then we had a nice 1 v 1.
Only assholes I found so far have been aldritch ones who run and hide at anor londo archers or use mobs to their advantage even when they are 2 v 1.

I had the same thing happen to me once in Dark Souls 2, I walked into undead parish bonfire and the fog wall formed behind me, then I was informed I was invaded. I saw a little bit of the red outline running around otuside, and I stood right next to the fog, I couldn't come out, we both made a couple swings at each other but it didn't register through the fog so he just black crystaled out.

Heavy PVP is around lvl 60-70, and theres a shit ton of it in Anor Londo.
I put on the aldritch covenant then pop the red eye orb, and its 50/50 on the invasions.
If its a 1vXX that I cant win I just run around and wait for another invader to show.
But most of the time the invaders outnumber the phantoms or theres already like 1 or 2 invaders in the world

Greatswords, yes. The Profaned Greatsword though as an UGS has hyperarmor, at least on its 2H attacks, don't know about 1H. It also has the unparryable UGS horizontal moveset which is the best in general, and along with that has a great weapon art for roll-catching backstab fishers that is also a self-buff. It's damage is best with quality and it doesn't weigh that much compared to most UGS weapons as well. Overall it's the top-tier of heavy weapons I'd say and about mid-tier in the overall meta.

Literally beaten by anything with range. You don't even need to greatshield it, you can even be fancy as fuck and stance lunge. You'll backstep out of its range and hit them into a lock. Dark Sword is easy as fuck to parry because it's even more predictable than katanas. Dark Swords are also free Leo Ring damage.
A PvE weapon, stop sucking against it in PvP.

It doesn't matter. Why is Crystal Sage even a boss in the first place? This is not what I consider to be boss material.
Fucking hell, every single boss so far has been easy and simple. I remember when I first started playing Dark Souls 1, I died dozens of times to Quelaag and Capra Demon. I haven't died more than 2 times to any of the bosses thus far.

I started a SL1 playthrough
I'm having some trouble with the Crystal Sage. I know I can beat it if I try long enough, but it's annoying. Once he gets below 50% hp and spawns the clones, you will instantly die if you get hit by any of them. The first hit does 70% damage and staggers you, then any follow up hit finishes you off.

I love the mound covenant. Summon them, get through the area opening shortcuts, then have a nice PvP duel before the boss, no hard feelings if I die, as I summoned them in the first place. Feels good man.

Hosts with phantoms have high priority for invasions, goes double for people who use dried finger to enable more summons.
The few times I've been invaded as a solo embered host it was immediately following a boss kill while clearing the next zone alone like I would if I was hollow anyway. As I was finishing up the game it happened less and less as if I was getting ahead of the curve.
Now I'll literally just let an enemy kill me as I'm invaded because I don't want to waste the next twenty minutes chasing some chugging dickhead so I can move past a damned fog gate and get on with it.

no they are the hardest encounter but you can just lure one at a time so not really

did 2 playthoughs on the same character, respecced before going into ng+ from int/dex to str/fai
both cycles were exactly the same, having trouble with the same enemies with infinite attack chains for all my hp, the same questlines bugging out at the same spots, and the same playstyle of having to go balls deep every fight just to not get steamrolled
i really wish i could like this but it just seems like every time i start to have fun it just pulls the plug on me and gives me a string of stupid death after stupid death until i hate it again, then lets me progress until i start to like it again
