This is what's wrong with this general
Reposting with new trip from older threads;
Hey /hsg/, so I noticed that my original plan of hosting the EU tournament next weekend might hit a snag due to the Old Gods probably releasing on Sunday.
Please vote on timing here: http://strawpoll.me/7359276
I'd also like to acknowledge the suggestions you guys have given me in the box. 90% of them reference the fact that I need to have a stricter, more objective, look at what decks are permitted in future tournaments.
Right now, the judgement stands that the TempoStorm Meta snapshot will be the banlist. Any crazy conditions (like banning GvG, Classic, & Basic) I might want to implement in the future will add onto that base rule.
I will also look for people to have a Skype call with to act as co-casters. Optimally I'd like to swap out a caster every 2 series', but we'll see.
Finally, an idea that I saw that was really cool was the /hsg/ League and eventual /hsg/ World Championships. So I've decided to work out a system with that. More details on how timing and qualification for that particular event will work out later, but I -will- announce that the next NA tournament is slated to be done on the weekend of May 20-22.
This next NA tournament will be a part of the qualification process for the /hsg/ World Championships.
Currently I have the Champions of every tournament automatically qualifying for a year-end "/hsg/ World Champion Tournament"I can post the Gdoc I'm currently working on. It's basically a full codification of the rules. The big question is whether we should give out Windz Pointsqualification currency :^)and an automatic qualification pass to the participants of the Pre-Standard tournament and jfalkenrath respectively.

Dark Souls 1: Part 2.
It's insanely better than 2.
I've come to the conclusion that /hsg/ and the hearthstone community in general don't understand game design.
It is not the designers jobs to give you everything you want or make it easy for you to make any kind of deck with any class.
They are supposed to give you imperfect tools and the challenge is making them work. That's what makes it a game.
>>138692887
How are you going to have a "World Championship" with the different servers (NA/EU)? Is it going to be a worlds per region? Because if not, most people will be SOL with all their cards on one region.
>>138693238
>the challenge is making them work
how do you get something that's completely random to work for you
>>138693238
You play DnD 2E exclusively, don't you?
>>138693248
I actually considered this wording to be false. Unless we have at least two people who own literally every card of whom are willing to donate use of their accounts for the final tournament, a more accurate name would be "/hsg/ Regional Championship", but "World Championship" sounds cooler and will probably stick.

>>138693238
>The challenge is making them work
True. I often find it hard to fit Dr. Boom into a ramp Druid deck to play it on turns 5, 6, and 7. Mainly because the devs won't let me put multiple Booms in my deck.
Thanks for opening my eyes.

>>138694234
Even if he still targets randomly? Such as flamestriking your own board.
>>138693520
Boom is perfect that's why he's bad. They never should have made him.
>>138693328
Completely random shit is annoying I agree I'm not saying that's good but when people say things like
>rogue needs healing
They should have some heal options sure but trading life for board control is how the class works. The risks involved with that are the challenge for you to work with.
>priest has no good 2 drops
Again they should have something to play on 2 sure but having a weak early game isn't necessarily something blizzard has to fix. If priest has strong late game then maybe that's the challenge for you, figuring out how to get to that late game with less than ideal choices.
>>138694175
Lizard Squad is a black hat hacking group, mainly known for their claims of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks[1] primarily to disrupt gaming-related services.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lizard_Squad
Because blizzard shut down the biggest vanilla server to force people into the new expansion
>>138694471
yes, because it can't target your own board. Spells can only hit what they are allowed to hit. i.e. you can't flame cannon your own minions, you can't flamestrike your own board but you can fireball yourself.
>>138694323
https://youtu.be/iciPnlNze9Y?t=230
It does not.
Minion is put on the field.
Battlecry triggers.
Deaths are processed.
Summoning of minion ends.
It's why syl can steal a fire ele if you kill it with the battlecry.
>>138694687
>neutral better kidnapper

>>138694632
Oh, so even if Yogg only casts your own spells you can't flamestrike yourself? Interesting. I thought Yogg was this exactly (only casting your own spells) but it seems pretty poor as it is. Is this considered wrong (is Yogg right now considered good?) And would my initial thought (only using your own casted spells) be too much/too good?
Is this brawl malfunctioning?

Right now Yogg is considered okay when played. I think the general feel is that most of the time it is a net positive (Though obviously RNG can really screw you hard).
If yogg only casts spells that you yourself have cast this game he would be better in terms of consistancey becasue you can choose to fill your deck with spells that cannot attack your own board/face such as flamestrike, flame lance, flame cannon, unstable portal, etc
>>138695041

Some World of Warcraft players long for the original game, so instead of settling for the expansion-laden world of Azeroth we know today, they join an unauthorized pirate server like Nostalrius. However, they won't be able to do that much longer as it appears that the developer, Blizzard, has ordered the aforementioned servers to be shut down.
The Nostalrius Begins team posted the news to its website, saying lawyers have ordered their hosting company, OVH, to cease and desist on behalf of Blizzard (via Eurogamer). They have less than a week to take the servers offline.

>I think the general feel is that most of the time it is a net positive
>>138694567
>>138695021
>>138695425
"As soon as we received this letter, we decided to inform the team and players about the future of Nostalrius, where we have all passionately committed our time and energy as volunteers," the team wrote.
Nostalrius Begins PVP, Nostalrius Begins PVE, Nostalrius TBC, and the rest of its servers will be taken offline at 11 PM server time on April 10--that is, if the team's hosting company keeps them up until then.
The team behind Nostalrius will release the source code and anonymized players data to the community, in order for them to decide its future. They say that they'll still provide "everything needed in order to setup your own 'Nostalrius,'" they just won't be leading the charge any longer.
The post says that the servers were "all about the nostalgia and memories of the glorious vanilla days."
"We don't know if you truly felt like it was the glory days while playing here, but we hope that you will keep good memories of the time spent here," it reads. "Once again, we can all be proud to have been part of the Nostalrius journey, no matter how much time was actually spent 'in-game.'"
Nostalrius was up-and-running for roughly one year, in which it attracted 800,000 registered accounts and 150,000 active players. The Nostalrius Begins team has created a petition as a plea to Blizzard to support legacy servers in the World of Warcraft community. At the time of publishing, the petition had 33,856 signatures.
In other news, World of Warcraft gets a new expansion this year called Legion. You'll also see the game's characters in the Warcraft movie this June.
>>138695438
I think that's pretty subjective. Compare the modified Yogg to C'thun. Both would require you to fill your deck with cards you may not want to play over others but need to make your 10 mana god viable. Dropping the god has only positive results for you, and in both cases would likely result in the death of the enemies board/hero.
Do you guys play any other CCG's?
Spell weaver is neat, also Duelyst, but that's more like an SRPG than a card game.

it's "how the class works" - according to whom? The hearthstone designers, who decided on that idea prior to having any experience with hearthstone metas, and most certainly have different overarching goals than the current team?
Trading life for board control doesn't fucking work, unless the math involved changes dramatically. We have been seeing this for a while. As a design team you can't just shit out whatever math you feel like and hope the community rises to the challenge xD, at some point you have to be held responsible for the fact that YOUR DECISIONS have made this class unplayable.

you're not some kind of game design prodigy because you autistically misread people's desires for better tools as desires for perfect tools and point out the trivial fact that perfect tools would make for a degenerate game
i'll be fucking glad when blizzard changes rogue into le deathrattle spellslinging class and you can choke on your idiotic "trades life for board control" idea and die
>>138703263
That's only assuming that there's an infinite number in between each number. I'm talking about discrete numbers here
>>138703470
Any control deck, or if shaman be as strong as people believe he will be next expansion, any deck.
How's this?
The Hippogryph Rider has Deathrattle: Summon a 1/1 Elven Archer.
>>138702138
Repentance/Equality/Keeper/Crazed Alchemist, followed by however much damage you need to deal with it's now decidedly not-infinite health.
>>138703470
Yes, he's good but you'll wanna watch out for milling yourself and the new shaman weapon

Statline is too good for something that can become out of control extremely quickly.
2/4 or 3/3 imo.

it doesn't need trasform or morph or anything like that. just make it like hungry crab

>>138704130
Please no, bubbles, secrets and paladins are already gay enough, they wouldn't need an another unstoppable nignog, not to mention his stats would be an auto include. Imagine the paladin dropping his avenge, kings and bubble buffs on this 10/10 wrecking ball that you can never remove because of his board control.

is there a way to clear this board, and if not, what is the best way?
Why are brawls with restrictions such shit?
>no minions with less than 7 attack
shit
>no minions with even attack, only spells that have a equal mana cost
shit
They've officially ran out of good ideas
>>138704692
Still targettable by minions though. Not immune to silence/BGH/keeper/etc.
>>138704908
Silence might be getting nerfed though, so this is still likely too strong.
>Warrior got a super good card
>"Yay finally warrior is viable!"
>Mage got a remotely good card
>"Fuck Blizzard think about the arena please"
Fucking hearthstone community I swear. There are only 2 possibilities that the majority of the comments that are biased towards warrior:
1. The community as a whole is fucking retarded and don't understand anything at all
2. Those are only a vocal fews who likes to play control. Since they have all the time in the world, they keep spamming the warrior-biased comment so that Blizzard will give warrior insane cards even though the class is already too good as of now.
I am so sick of this kind of attitude already. Mark my words that with the new expansion out, all the control decks will as frustrating to play against as huntertaker deck.
>>138704916Vanish
>>138705010
one class has insanly strong arena and the card they got is far stronger than the other who already is weak at arena
>>138704596
Spider Tank is neutral.
All class cards are better than neutrals. See: Unearthed Raptor, Spellslinger, Dark Cultist, Fierce Monkey.
>>138705010

People are concerned about balance. That means fixing the game from the bottom up, not the top down.
>>138692093

There's that word again.
>>138705174
And Full-Fledged Squire is better than all of those cards by a lot.
>>138704030
And here is the other half
It is debatable on whether you could eliminate the Deathrattle becuase the archer SHOULD die when the Hippogryph does, but I think its justified value. And it makes it a hell of a lot stickier than most other early game drops
>>138705419
I feel like I want this to spawn the 1/1 AND fire off 1 damage.
My dick is a little hard at the thought of that.
>>138705347
>BenBrodeLaugh,jpg
>>138705419
It's kinda cool. I think it's fairly balanced because elven archer is already a sub-optimal card.
I would like to see more "merge" mechanics it seems like it could do interesting thing.
>>138704916
Thalnos Prep oil, hit the 2/3, flurry
Leaves 3 1/1s
>>138705419
Only thing elven archer is good for is my cock. If she is summoned through a deathrattle, that finally gives me a chance to shoot first.
>>138705419
Flavorful and cute but not strong. I would be on board if Hearthstone has a limited format that lent itself to things like that.
FUCK
WHAT DO I PICKI'm the same dude that had to choose between thermameme, dr 7 and majodojoI went 7-3
So what's the general consensus on WOTG based on the cards so far? I'm underwhelmed so far.Honestly I'm glad that I didn't buy the preorder packs on impulse like I did with TGT
OH SHIT NEW CARD
BRAVO BEN
>>138705703
thanks
i played deadly, si 1/2 creeper, thalnos, whack 2/3 creeper, prep flurry leaving the 3/1 gang boss, but i think your play is better
>>138705956
Elise rarely goes off in arena.
Arch mage isn't really good without low cost spells to abuse.
Memo will have a deck of 1-ofs and heals to full.
Memo.
>>138705956
Reno is going to land you the most consistent value but you're probably gonna have to skip out on picking more than 2x copies unless you feel luckypunk
>>138705956
Elise is the safest pick
Reno is risky because you might get really good duplicates
Tony is risky because you might not get a reasonable amount of spells
I would go for reno
>>138705971
I think they're good. I like about half the cards so far maybe a little more than half.
>>138705956
Why do I never get even 1/3 options as good as this?
>>138706000
>>138705956
Archmage and it's not even close
>>138706039
The 3/1 trading into SI is pretty bad, and you also use up an extra card that way.
My play floats a mana, so you could prep SI imp gang instead of playing thalnos, but then the 3 1/1s trade into it all the same and you don't get an extra draw for fan. All in all I like thalnos better.
>people bitch about GvG cards because they were too RNG dependent

See this shit? People are still defending warrior. Don't you guys understand how strong the class is in costructed?
>warrior weak at arena
Ok, sure. That mage card is strong in arena because the rarity is common. But warrior's card which is good in arena is a common too. On the other hand, rarities mean little in constructed so that means warrior got an insane patron multiplier and a good body to activate his 1 mana removal spell.
>mage got more good cards revealed today than warrior has gotten revealed so far.
A discounted echo of medivh sure is bad, huh? With the same mana cost, whirlwind + blood warriors can give you so much value
>>138705291
> fixing the game from the bottom up, not the top down.
You mean fixing arena? Gold and pack farmers should just row their quest if they got a shitty one to do in arena instead of demanding Blizzard to let them choose the pack rewards.
Ok.
To conclude, you guys totally ignored the point that the new expansion will push the meta towards control, which warrior excels at. Poor mage needed some minion for board control that they lacked since forever and now everyone are already whining about it
>Execute
>Shield slam
>Brawl
These insane board removal, however, will be in standard but nobody seems to complain, and the nerf hammer will never reach for them.
>>138706497
As an aside, I like getting rid of the oil over poison as your hand is fairly clunky. If you don't prep it there you'll be stuck with a 4 cost card in your hand, where poison is much easier to use later.

If you didn't pick Majordomo when you originally screenshotted this then get out.
>>138706685
We were just complaining about the rarity, because rarity actually doesn't matter at all to game balance unless you're playing Arena.
Warrior would also be unplayable without strong removal cards. Their hero power is the weakest one because it can't actively affect the board and doesn't do something ridiculously strong like Life Tap.
Blood Warriors is bad the same way the Hero Power is. It needs activators to work unlike Echo of Medivh
>>138697937
Paying for ad spots on the Walking Dead.
>>138706816
I'm surprised that shitter like you went 7-3
Card you're most hype for?
what is it
>>138705874
I also had this in mind, which might(?) Be a little stronger. I cant make the panther the activator though because it already exists, and she has to mount it, not the other way around. So trying to curve it out naturally is a little tough.
