In the book Shen and Co' spend 20 years roaming around the worlds seas in a submarine trying to get the avenger online and scavenging enough to get by while Advent consolidates their power and basically rules the world.
Vahlen does something in a volcano. It eventually explodes.
And the Ayys somehow forget about/get rid of/cannibalize the Temple ship in favor of the underwater base.
In all that time, how did the submarine or the alien base not detect each other? Let alone the psionic rift under the ocean? Surely it would be impossible unless the base was at the bottom of the Mariana trench or some such? Or on another planet/in another dimension?
Or both sides where simply too retarded to find the other? Is that sub still around?

Its a WWII sub that they picked specifically because it was low tech enough to not be picked up. The ocean is huge, it would be nearly impossible for them to just run find the alien base or explore the psionic rift trench with whatever sonar their sub was equipped with at random.

the issue I have with that is that WWII-era subs weren't designed for underwater endurance like modern subs, they were more like surface boats that could submerge when needed. The majority of the time they would be surfaced, not exactly stealthy.

Commander is supposed to be the equivalent.
XCOM2, might be more difficult, its hard to say. The main thing that you need to do is take note of the differences from X1 so you don't get caught using tactics that don't work anymore.

Had enemy reinforcements coming in on my team during a VIP rescue. The flare was in the median between a truck, a police cruiser, and some hippie's sports car (damn solar panels). Told my grenadier to terrorize the country side and grenade the vehicles instead of going on overwatch.

Its pretty bad. When aliens infiltrate buildings, they start to work towards taking control of whatever megacorp/organization that controls it.
If they go unchecked, eventually they will control the organizaiton. At that point they will becom hostile to X-COM.
When organizations are hostile, they will attack you troops on site if you visit their buildings, they might launch raids against your base, and you can no longer use their services.
Let's say the ayys take over the Marsec Corp. Now you can't buy flying armor, if you engage ayys in their buildings they will fight you, and they will probably launch ayys with well armed and armored troops.

Mainly- and again this isn't meant to come off as snide or downputting- but what you have no problem with in a general is not the same as what other people have no problem with in a general. Those stories generated a lot of discussion and further generated more OC. It may not have been OC that you particularly cared for, but that is sometimes the reality of the situation. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that a great deal of the thread doesn't either.
I again challenge this idea that anyone is 'avatarfagging'. I don't frequent /tesg/ (or many other generals at all for that matter) so I don't really know just how bad it may be, but I assure you there has been nothing at any significant level of 'pay attention to me' in these threads besides- and again, just saying this for the reality it is- the very loud and thread-derailing complaints about things not going the way someone wants them to.
Perhaps you can reason to see it that way, perhaps you cannot and you still think it's over the line. And it is ultimately up to you how you deal with that. But I reiterate the most important point once again, one person's opinion of what a general should be will never truly dictate things. And I'm not naive as to say that there aren't other people who aren't fans of the waifu or lewd or planes or what have you, but that is a community based on saying 'stop doing this' as opposed to one based on creating or doing things. 4chan does not operate on entropy, posts cannot be downvoted or removed by community members- what the general decides to do is what the general decides to do.

That's what I love about AWC active abilities on snipers, they're all 1ap and thus unbalanced as shit. I even got rapid fire last game, rode that one through to the end and it was fucking satisfying one shorting avatars after moving to flank
As for KZ on specs, the way the skill works I think it's fine being 1 move, as you should either use it on a pod you're about to pop or have a psiop ready to inspire for active engagements

That's a very good question. So basically a pile of comfy instead of a couple hundred pounds of comfortableness.
Personally I'd still go with snek. My reasoning behind this is that while most of the codex would be comfy, that's still a lot of knees and elbows with all the clones.
With snek it's just muscle, boob, and one set of elbows. She'd wrap about you for warmth. Can Codex even produce warmth? Would she just leech it all away? I guess that'd be a reason for having a blanket or three.

Just entering this conversation, but ethereals traveling between universes is not established canon.
Its all very thinly based on a single line an ethereal says in the final mission.
"You will defeat them commander, as you have before" (not exact quote). That's it there is nothing else.
This could mean that ethereals can see into alternate universes, it could mean that you defeated them while running your simulations in cryo sleep.
I personally do not believe ethereals can travel across time or to alternate realities. That always instantly breaks plot.
If it wouldn't crush them I would hug the fuck out of an Ethereal.

The Quantum Cyberdisc of Doom is always active, teleports behind your squad and it's always very difficult to come out without a scratch so no surprises there. FiLP is an exercise of denying cover to the enemy via explosives and begin patient in your starting location till things calm down.
Don't be afraid to rush the objective in either Deluge or in Furies tho is recommended to go through the sides of the ship in Furies when going for the switch.
