As someone with 2k+ uses of SA and 200 of everything else, it's just fine tier. Main problems SA is going to run into is not tripping the useless Lance/Gunlance players, and slowly dying to chip damage due to pretty much all their attacks having super armor.

After many painful hours of farming I have finally gotten all the parts needed to craft my mixed set, only to find out shortly after that I apparently had 1 weapon slot enabled in Athena's Armour thing and my entire set no longer works with my Dios Switchaxe, which just so happens to be the entire reason I tried to create it in the first place.

Pellet is a great shot type for clearing out small monsters, but in newer gens they're barely as cancerous as in older gens, hence they aren't really used anymore.

it lacks polish, and appears like a really shitty meme mode at first.but it actually has some of the most broken shit in the game. if you equip the hororohoruru mace on a boomerang build, you can chain KO and sleep a monster, and if you go for a raw boomerang, you can do tons of damage.
i personally like it because it makes gathering quests a lot less of a chore, and offers a no-prep option for hunts.

melee cats are pretty trash. you want a support cat with boomerang up, piercing boomerang and huge boomerang.
the skills huge boomerang and piercing boomerang stack, so you are essentially constantly piercing the entire creature with exhaust damage, sleep and KO on the head if you go with the hororo mace. or if you go raw and edged, it cuts tails at lightspeed while doing tons of damage.
I cart like once every 50 normal hunts. There's a reason I play like a masochist.

Not really, it's great for debilitating the monster but its damage isn't very good on its own.
you need the akantor sword or the tempest narga shuriken if you want to deal a lot of damage.
you can also equip the hororo mace to a regular palico (and set it up just like you would a nyanter) for free sleeps at least twice a hunt.

When I want to bowgun in early monhuns I just bring full loads of pellet shots to deal with the small shitter critters. Bowguns have plenty of dps to run solo with just normal or pierce shots.

you'll need to teach it piercing boomerang from a fighting cat, though. kototo specializes in fighting cats and is more likely to have cats with that skill.
you also want a support cat that has the emergency escape/exit skill, as it's your primary source of healing/safety.

Just use the kelbi horn delivery quest to cycle, it doesnt take that long. if you're short on cash, the 2* arzuros hunt is a good alternative.
remember, all you need is a support cat with emergency exit and: boomerang pro (or up) huge boomerang and piercing boomerang.
you can teach one passive and one active skill to a cat, so you can teach boomerang pro from another cat if you need to.
