A: More stable loading of CFW, plus bootrate and speed improvements. Theoretically impossible for Nintendo to fix.
Q: The browser asks me to update (9.9 to 10.6)

Save files are inside the Nintendo 3DS folder. Your saves are in there, encrypted. If it's the same emunand, it can read the backup folder you made, if it's not, you need to restore that old emunand. If you don't have a dump you're fucked.

Yeah, you're using the september build. The first time you enter an applet it breaks the sloppy RF patch and that rarely freezes the 3DS too, most of the time it's just a lag spike.
If you intend to update to get rid of it just change CFWs though, there's no reason to use rxShit anymore since everything else has a better RF now.

Is there really no way to emuNAND backup on a 2GB SD? Formatting it to work with OTPHelper cut it down to 938MB and the backup fails at 99%...

You can use EmuNAND tool on your PC instead... but you absolutely need to make a SysNAND backup later (and that's not optional if you're going for a9lh), and it should be equally big/possibly bigger. You can move the \3ds\menuhax_manager folder to your PC temporarily, that should give you 100MB or so back, but you'll need to reinstall Menuhax later and will need to put the files back for it.

Reinand yeah. Aureinand too but you also need to grab a firm file which is in the readme. They have ready-to-go booters for menuhax/ninjhax so you won't need ctrbootmanager unless you want to still have easy access for sysnand HBL.
Reinand uses FIRM 10.4 for no reason on O3DS though and you can't downgrade it which means NTR won't work on it for now, but Rei will fix this on next version.
For now you can use Aurei which is what I'm also using, I don't really like to use with menuhax-emunand setup since its features are meant for A9LH and the bloat bothers me, so I will go back to Rei as soon as NTR is fixed.

You can update the firmware on it. https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-supercard-dstwo-beginners-guide-how-to-setup-the-dstwo.290190/ has the instructions, ctrl+f "How to update your nonworking DSTWO's firmware on a 3DS". I'm pretty sure it works even on firmware versions before that icon, I had to use that method when I first got mine and I remember it using a different game.
But if you're going to hack for 3DS games anyway, you might as well just install the usual DS cart unblocking patches and upgrade it via the safer normal method (or not at all, but upgrading is probably a good idea).

You can, actually. All of the major loaders (and I think Dolphin can too) are capable of handling them like that. The reason for them being split is because FAT32 has a 4GB per file limit and some discs are actually full or dual-layer DVDs.
If you want to join them together, you can just do something like copy /b SB3E08.wbfs + SB3E08.wbf1 SB3E08-full.wbfs in the command prompt.

Your digital game savegames are gone forever unless you have a backup of your Nintendo 3DS folder or some other form of save backup. You can redownload digital games from the eShop once you have EmuNAND set up and updated to 10.7. Other than that, yeah, just have to re-do your 3ds homebrew folder/CFW tools and Menuhax.
Make sure to open the theme menu before reinstalling Menuhax, you need that theme data created and you've successfully destroyed yours.

You'll know how to by the end of the guide. In the very beginning it tells you how to get into homebrew launcher then later how to get into CakesFW. You'll have to do the same ritual each time to get into CFW with that specific setup.
As for the games, you get the .cia files from that 3ds iso site (google it if you have to) and it will install your game to your sd card. Just play after that.
Also make sure to check several times if you're putting the right files onto your SD card and follow exactly what it says to do, nothing more or less.
A lot of the stuff it has you do doesn't require everything in the packs given, only parts of them unless it states to copy every content over.

5.5 kernel exploit is not under development, it's been ready for months but it's currently private. It's technically a CFW but it's more like a tool than anything. It region-frees your firmware and allows screenshots + N3DS clock speeds on all games, aka "overclock". Definitely worth it since it's boot and forget.

For games with N3DS clock speed stuff built in, it won't change anything.
For games without N3DS clock speed stuff built in, it can result in far higher framerates, sometimes slight glitches. MH3U jumps to permanent 60FPS while KH3D becomes far more stable.

We still don't have an exploit for arm9 code execution on latest FW, the closest being ntrcardhax on FW<10.4 which requires making your own DS cart.
Arm9loaderhax still needs to be on 9.2 to be installed before being able to go on latest FW. The reason it works on latest FW is because the hax payload is run before most of the 3ds firmware is, meaning you can patch things before the arm9 kernel is running.

That was found, but wasn't the exploit that was used. It was fixed long before the presentation and in its original form, it'd be N3DS-only. Downgrades ended up being done with memchunkhax2 instead (which is also in the presentation but hard to summarize), then Nintendo "fixed" it poorly and someone figured out a way to do it using the GPU.

The OP doesn't include anything about Gateway because it's extremely irrelevant now. And of course buying one is discouraged. No, promising "epic new surprises xD" doesn't make them relevant. If something that makes them relevant happens (for instance: their stuff doesn't work, they start to brick consoles again for no reason, they try to get new selling points by doing something we can already do for free but in their own way) it does get added to the OP.

I think GW is usually fine to update as long as all the other CFW are confirmed safe. The only thing that seems to break is multirom and they usually fix that relatively fast.

For those of you who care, I got a copy of Tsukihime to work on it now. There don't seem to be any copies of Tsukihime for VNDS since digital-haze died, so I reedited the code and files for an Android VNDS version and added it to this. Tell me if anything is broken!
Also, it seems like all of my games are gone now that I updated to a9lh, but the Nintendo 3DS folder still has lots of data in it. Is that data useful or not?
