Not having the ability to bring shit in also fucks with progression in that only one person is going to get top tier armor without fishing because the ore nodes are a pain in the ass to get with 6+ people. What's a metal-looking material that doesn't have an even busier texture though?
Monster farm for crystals and mimics. All platforms are actuated if I want to get rid of them and several dart traps to wake up mimics. Jungle for increased spawn rate and from where I stand in the middle there's 170ft left/right opened up, 100ft up open and 100ft down all filled with stone. I think I have the best spawn rate then (minus water candle)? Also anything I can do to make this area prettier without creating areas where mobs can get stuck??

Thanks guys, been working at it for a while. It does need some fixing though, the volcano mouth is too short and narrow, which allows slimes to jump over and out of the pit. I added a queen statue so I can summon someone to sell crap to, and added the water candles. It works as expected with crystal farming (activating the actuators drops all crystals to the floor, considering a HOIK to pull them all to the center). Also have an issue with jungle bats spawning, but I cant figure out why, no exposed jungle anywhere but as a bonus I got my jungle key in about 2mins

HOLY SHIT, Mothron ded in ~5 seconds! It didn't get NEAR me! Before I got the SDMG, I was stuck with a Vortex Beater, and it took ~45 seconds to kill the damn things, and used up a BUNCH of Super Healing Potions. Wow, that's a huge difference!

I never really understood how spread of corruption worked.
If I make a 4 block wide hellevator and cover the walls with uncorruptable blocks like clay, will the corruption/hallow be capable of spreading past it?

Corruption, hallow and crimson spread up to 3 blocks away from an infectious block. So if you have a block that's infected, leave 3 blocks of air between it and the next pure block and the pure block won't get infected. That's it. The only additional thing you need to know if that infected plants also spread the infection, so corrupted grass or corrupted vines also spread the corruption up to 3 blocks away.
In order to prevent vines and grass form growing, some people put a single line of uncorruptible blocks at the edges of their tunnels to prevent vines, grass, and other plants from growing. From my experience I can tell you that that is bullshit, so if you want to protect a zone, make 3 block wid shaft around it and make sure the edges are made of something like stone or mud so no grass can spawn on the edges. Even if the stone gets corrupted, the other blocks will be too far away from the corruption in order to allow it to spread.
Walls don't spread anything at all. They're safe even if they're infected.

Yes, when you go into hardmode, a V is created in your world with one branch being corruption/crimson and the other one being hallow that goes from the underworld up to the surface, so unless you can predict exactly where that V is created and isolate its zone, the corruption/crimson/hallow will go past the tiny biomes you've quarantined.
