Look through the weapons terminal for armor that looks identical to it. There's no unique character armor models besides some characters having unique color changes (like Irina's leg part)
Speaking of which, why did we go from head-shirt-gloves-pants-shoes to head-shirt-right arm-left arm-pants for armor slots? Arm parts always look bad when used without their main shirt and I'd rather have a single gloves slot and shoes then two arm slots and no shoes.

Any humanoid alien race should've been fair game for a party member. I get why making the Orphe or Zaruboggan would require too much new animations etc but a prone female, delfinian, Wrothian male etc aren't so different from the human skeleton that they couldn't work. And it just so happens that recurring quest NPCs include a prone female (Slovity), a Delfinian (Erio) and a Wrothian (Gi Zang) who end up being buddy-buddy with the player character.
Not like they'd be any more useful then the other party members but they'd be more interesting to look at.

The Wrothian party member would obviously be Photon Saber + Sniper because the game is "missing" a user for each of those weapon types.
Considering the quest progression, I could totally see us as suppose to get Gi Zang, but something happened in development to make them cut it.
Maybe instead of Overdrive each character originally had a Talent Art a la the first Xenoblade, with his being the clones he makes, but there was a problem with that system.

Considering how every character basically uses the same system (you can mechanically recreate every party member as an avatar because they just pool specific attributes to make a party member other then stuff like Nagi having 5 skill slots) I doubt there was anything as exciting as character-specific talent arts ever planned for the game. A shame, but that's the cost of focusing on gameplay and solid underlying mechanics to story and unique characters.

It works out for certain characters, like Yelv and Alexa have reasons for being superior pilots and the shieldbots are all viable, but a bunch are just kind of there. They also need to make it so the AI will properly position and sequence arts if they're going to build an entire game around situational effects.

I like it, since it's the first time I've been able to play a "traditional" fighter since the controls are simplified to just four cardinal directions+an attack button, but most of the other mechanics are still there (Dragon kick? Quarter turn? Yeah, after practicing inputs for an hour and I can only get the move out 20% of the time I gave up on those games.) It seems to deviate from the formula in ways that make it interesting to traditional fighting game veterans too.
You'll want a good internet connection or real-life friends since online / LAN matches are 100% of the fun, single player is ass.

She's a worse agi character than Dunban, a worse physical glass cannon than Shulk, worse survivability than Ryen, Dunban and Riki, and worse at Ether than Melia, Riki, orSharla
She isn't even the best hybrid character because Riki exists

Didn't Elma say there were something like 20 million people's information in the Lifehold storage? That's far more than the tens of thousands of bodies that the people in NLA were led to believe. So technically they attempted to save far more people than Lao believed. Who knows, maybe his family's data was on there and they just didn't tell him in order to keep the whole "we're not really taking your bodies with us" thing under wraps. Either way, there were far more people on board than just the rich and powerful.Also Lao a shit.
Did anybody else here play Soma? I wonder if the mims are just duplicates of the original's consciousness, and the "real" Cross, Lin, Lao, and everyone else were still conscious in their bodies when the earth was destroyed. It would make for an interesting twist for a future game, at least. Especially since Elma was the only one to keep her real body. They could use that theoretical plot point as a way to turn the characters against her if they wanted to go that route.

Like one of those "kills you and makes a copy on the other end" teleporters? I'd say so. Lao makes a big deal out of "our flesh and blood burnt up with the earth". It'd be impractical to copy millions of brains and have each brain not exist on earth in some way. Maybe the White Whale crew were in stasis when brainscanned and during earth's destruction (as 'preparation for boarding') so they wouldn't know but that's not practical for the regular people getting scanned.
As for Elma keeping her body while no-one else did, she's already shown that she doesn't understand people on a fundamental level ("why do you care about different religions/cultures so much" is "why the rush tatsu no understand" levels of dumb). You wouldn't need a whole lot more for people to turn on her. The fallout from when NLA finds out how the Lifehold actually worked, and then that it's broken would be enough. "You kept your body" would just be extra.

Longsword + Dual Guns is still The One afaik but there's some other fairly popular builds. Knife + Sniper Rifle for insane damage Afterburner, Assault Rifle + Photon Saber reflect all + topplelock, etc.
At least the skell meme weapons have changed. I remember meem missiles and diskbombs not always being known as The Thing To Do.

Alright guys, Xenoblade Y spoilers all up ins.
The next game is set 5 years after the firstTeam Elma is still in their mims despite the fact that the part of the Lifehold Core that does the transfers was repaired.
By Elma's urging, it's better for them to stay in their mims until the various threats to their livelihood, like indigen and evil galactic empires, have subsided.
She simply refuses to take anyone along on missions that didn't remain in a mim.
As is par for the course though, she isn't telling you the whole story. There's another reason why she doesn't want you having Lifehold made bodies. More on that later.
Since it's 5 years later, during the game Lin gets a new adult mim on her 18th birthday.
She didn't get incremental new ones over time because that's cost prohibative.
The scene is reminiscent of when Emeralda "grows up" in Gears. Not story important though, just a throwback.
There are new humans all over that got made with the Lifehold, and I don't mean a bunch of 5 year olds. I mean it spit them out as fully grown adults.
Part of the J-body project was to see if you could get a functioning adult by starting a human at that point of their development. It was successful.
Interesting thing about the humans made with the Lifehold Core is that they can use Ether.
At first this is hand waved as another example of "Miran magic" like how the Orphean inexplicably got females.
The truth is:They can use Ether because Luxaar got dissolved in the vat of protoplasm.
His DNA being mixed in there is IMPORTANT later
Lao is STILL missing but he gets spotted on a Frontier Nav camera leaving the continents that X takes place on by boat and heading to a new location.
Doug, in a fit of immense homolust, goes AWOL and tries to track down Lao
Team Elma is requested by Chausson to both reel in Doug, and figure out how the hell Lao is alive.

This is where things get really interestingMiran magic is because the Zohar is on Mira.
If you noticed that the Lifehold Core is basically the Kadomony from Gears under a different name, you probably saw this coming.
Lao is alive because he's a contact. Note: Not "The Contact", that's later Fei. Lao is kind of a prototype of that.
The Zohar, or rather the entity within, wants to move on from it's current existence. It's old as the universe and ready for a change.
The mysterious figure on the beach that finds Lao at the end of X was a kind of avatar for the Zohar.
It picks Lao because it senses his strong desire to die and feels that makes them kindred spirits.
A problem arises stemming from the fact that the Zohar brings back Lao each time with all his memories, and I do mean each time.
Lao is going to die and get revived AGAIN after a heroic sacrifice in Y against GHOST.
This drives Lao off the deep end. Or it would, but the Zohar lets him off the hook and allows him to actually die, resigning itself to not make the same mistake with its next contact.
Subsequently, the incarnations of Fei in Gears don't have memories of their past selves.
It's also kinda like retroactive foreshadowing for Lacan going crazy and becoming Grahf when he learns about his past lives. Neet.
After Lao is dead for real this time and the Zohar gets carted back to NLA for research, some unexpected visitors show up.
A few other members of Elma's race arrive, and they have bad news, they're being trailed by a larger force of Ganglion than what you fought against in X.
After some preparations, you muster all your allies and get ready to defend planet Mira.
You do a better job of it than you did of Earth, but it the outlook still looks bleak.

But they did already use it in X when chimera Lao tells you shit that Luxaar knew, so I guess it was foreshadowed?
Anyway, Deus also has genetic memory from Luxaar and this acts as the seed of betrayal and eventually leads to it rebelling MUCH later and causing Gears to happen

All three of the Gatling arts are weapon-dependent for attribute, and they're exactly what you'd use for non-thermal Gatling.
So yes, that's definitely a sleep knife/gatling set. Knife/sniper is also a thing, Afterburner is hilariously strong. I don't know how strong it'd be with the other ranged weapons though

With two weapons you simply select the skills you want most of which are shared, the actual weapon is irrelevant. Soul voices replaces the deep skill system in the first game and makes combat a reliance on the AI calling out to you so you can spam something. That's not strategy, it's barely tactics.

Potentially, if you stockpile the one appendage that gets exchanged for goods you can get a lot more then what your tickets are worth (Golden Ygg Hearts are worth more than any appendage individually) but that's unlikely as hell. It's random form what I heard.
There are theories that potential may affect it.
But I found that I tend to get Cockpit mode more if I use arts with low cooldown successively.
Cockpit mode basically give you a small boost to fuel, and doesn't expend fuel. But more importantly it makes you immune to attacks temporararily.
I know the norm is to use level 50 amadusias. But I chose level 50 formula. There were many cases when amadusias couldn't last long enough, but formula could because of the massive evasion boost.

Riki's selfish and insensitive but he also clearly worries and takes care of his family and friends.

Dunban was pretty great especially when you stacked agility with Serene Heart and lead an attack on some +20 levels enemy.

Xenoblade Chronicles had much better developed characters, but outside of Dunban and Melia I hated them all. I didn't do all the affinity stuff yet, but yes Irina is better than those three. Celica has a weird baby face and seems useless in combat, Murderess seems like an annoying edgelord, and Hope is incredibly bland and looks like a generic NPC. I'm glad that killing the Telethia in A Fateful Choice leads to that orphean realizing that they should command the ovah instead of following it. The orpheans are pretty cool, they're level-headed and aside from some misunderstanding of what's acceptable ('why can't we eat these trees?', which other xenos also show like L asking 'why can't i eat this cat') they're probably the most reliable xeno race. If they got over the dogma of their ovah they'd be god-tier.

Nardacyon I beat with Zenith Cannon and cockpit time procs pretty early into the post game.
I didn't like how that skell played though , so then I built a beam Lialah and killed every other super boss with it.
