if you're playing at 1080 it's rendering it at ~4k and downscaling it, a form of supersampling. This reduces aliasing but obviously slows the game down.

I don't have a favorite class, i always last pick and choose what the team needs.
It's easier to say least favorite heroes: Hanzo, Genji, Poo in the Loo, Roadhog, Tjorb, off the top of my head.
None of these characters are vital to the game and they all have other choices available in their class that do their job better. Anyone who says otherwise is mainer scum and should be disregarded.

Blizz in fact did not want to cater to preorders. They thought everybody would be fine with a couple day beta to test the game and make their decision then (Open Beta). They only changed this very recently, as seen by Kaplan apologizing to those who preordered. And hence we have a couple day preorder exclusive days, and open beta following right after.
I see it in a good light. I don't care about all these preorder bonuses. They're stupid. If I don't have actual beta access, allow me to try the game out prior to launch, and I'll wind up buying the game.

At this point I find that I really don't bother damage boosting most of the time, even if it's a pharah or reaper ult it's more useful to heal them to make sure they stay alive. It's more of a "no one is damaged so why not" ability than something I focus on doing.

The tips on respawn explicitly say that winston is supposed to land on supports and snipers and yet he's much worse at that than Dva.

You aren't supposed to jump in by yourself, that's exactly what he isn't meant to do. You play him in a lineup that can support his ultra aggressive jumps so that when he does go in and get people low your team comes in behind and cleans up.
I see Winston constantly in games and a good one is a menace to deal with, you almost have to get a reaper just to keep him honest.
So I haven't gotten a chance to play the beta or anything since I'm on ps4, but Lucio has always interested me as a support character. Others that play support, do you play him or someone like Zenyatta?

I play Lucio, then Symmetra, then Mercy. But that's because my aim is shit and Zen needs precision.
Also, they're good for different team comps, so, sometimes Zenyatta is better then Lucio, and vice versa, depending on the team.

He is a must on king of the hill but can many times be outclassed on normal maps by Mercy and even Zen. Mercy puts out way more healing and Zen has a much higher damage potential while his ultimate can for the most part do the same thing. He works great for brawling oriented lineups and not so good with tank centric ones.
I find him hard to classify as a support though because he is more of a low damage DPS character that has an aoe speed boost or regen. Without having any direct control over who you are healing it requires you to just pay attention to who is in your line of sight and just spam your weapon.

What prestige do I have to be to unlock the perk that makes Winston's gun do damage? I know it's not a matter of skill because it's literally impossible to miss with.
It might take me 4-5 seconds of mindlessly running down a single widow in order to kill her. I'm eating SMG fire the entire time too.
If I was Dva I could fly into the bitch for 50, melee for 30, and then shred the rest of her health pretty easily.
I fail to see how Winston is ever a reasonable choice with DVa existing. He can't pick like her, he's not as versatile as her, his defensive ability isn't clutch as hers is, etc, etc.

That's probably because you're chasing like a moron instead of jumping, bubbling, and harassing to your limit. Also if you land on a Lucio and begin doing damage immediately it's actually not possible for him to speed boost away fast enough to survive, his best hope is to heal boost and hope to lead you out of your bubble while landing only headshots.

Reinhardt can charge solo into the enemy team and die too, same with Diva and Roadhog, does that make them underpowered? Pharah can beat Reinhardt in a 1v1 with ease, is he somehow broken? Anyone in the game can beat Roadhog 1v1 if they evade his hook so maybe he needs a buff.

Not really, I've been matched up against the comp stacks with level 1-5 players on my team. There aren't enough people playing and it just grabs someone at random to fill a slot.

No not really actually. What is happening in that scenario is a couple of things.
1. those new players might have won their previous games in a landslide thus artificially putting them at a high skill level
2. the teams are equal, you may be put against level 50s evenly meanwhile your team is 200's and a couple low levels
3. you may just be queueing at a shit time
It's most likely the first two though, and that's the thing people forget. It's a team game and therefore places importance on team skill comparison. This is not simply about the player population, as even when the game goes live the matchmaking won't suddenly be this miracle.

There is no matchmaking rating. Everything is first come first serve. Kaplan made it this way to log as many matches as possible.

No, not at all. I'm talking about being matched up against a premade of all competitive players who are level 100-300+ with my team having levels in the single digits. There is absolutely zero excuse for low level players to ever be put into a game with people who have 400-1000 games under their belt and are quite obviously at the high end of the MMR bracket. This kind of bullshit happens to me all night long as I queue up against premades and my team is filled in with people in the teens who think two bastions on attack is a good idea.
There aren't enough people playing and more importantly the matchmaking system just isn't very good.

So I wanted to start off by saying, I think the development team has done a pretty great job with the cast of female hero's in Overwatch. They are diverse, interesting, and compelling. From Mei to Zarya to Widowmaker the female cast reflects a large spectrum of personalities and player fantasies.
With that being said, lets talk about Tracer. From a marketing standpoint, she's the star of the show. She's a great hero. When we look at the way she's portrayed in promotional media, lore, and art in game we know a few things about her..
She's Fast.
She's Silly.
She's Kind.
She's a good Friend.

WHAT? What about this pose has anything to do with the character you're building in tracer? It's not fun, its not silly, it has nothing to do with being a fast elite killer. It just reduces tracer to another bland female sex symbol.
We aren't looking at a widowmaker pose here, this isn't a character who is in part defined by flaunting her sexuality. This pose says to the player base, oh we've got all these cool diverse characters, but at any moment we are willing to reduce them to sex symbols to help boost our investment game.
Getting art into a triple A game isn't a small task, it has to go through an implementer, a team lead, an art director, and a creative director. This is a team effort. And I believe the team is responsible for upholding the great example overwatch can set to the rest of the industry for creating strong female characters.
I have a young daughter that everyday when I wake up wants to watch the recall trailer again. She knows who tracer is, and as she grows up, she can grow up alongside these characters.
What I'm asking is that as you continue to add to the overwatch cast and investment elements, you double down on your commitment to create strong female characters. You've been doing a good job so far, but shipping with a tracer pose like this undermines so much of the good you've already done.

Matchmaking right now, for whatever reason, really doesn't work all that great. As a new player you are going to be put into games with veterans and I can't imagine that will be a fun experience for either of you.

I am good with some and shit with others, and those categories can be interchangeable depending on my mood and on who I'm playing against.
Reaper for example is my favorite character and sometimes my aim with him is spot on and I get huge killstreaks, other times I just get shit on.
If your issue is your inability to aim you should really assess what's causing your issues rather than stressing about it. Play with mouse sensitivity and understand that how you play DOES affect your aim, like you should really consider the decisions you are making, where you're going, what targets you're picking, like sometimes I just can't aim worth a shit because I keep making questionable decisions that stress me out in combat.
You should make sure you have decent fps as that will affect your aim.
You will find you seem to do better when you focus heavily on objectives like sticking to the payload, unless your team is getting steamrolled in which case there's nothing you can do.
Lately I've been trying to get good with Tracer, I found her intimidating and for a while I had trouble getting kills but now I'm pretty good with her, so I don't think it's just practice but establishing comfortability. I play better when I'm having fun and confidently attacking foes, rather than stressing out about my score and whether rushing their backline is a good decision.
So my best advice is just try to relax and practice at the game and watch what other players do because it may help you learn to get better. Watching streams/videos may also teach you a lot in a little time.

Bastion is pretty vulnerable to certain heroes, like Roadhog can rip him off the payload. He's one of those heroes who SEEMS good but you don't realize it's his team making him good and if he had poor support he'd be getting shit on repeatedly.

It's not that hard. You'll probably come to learn what they do just from fighting them. They're all pretty simple and learning what they're designed to do doesn't require a lot of memory power but usually people will use certain tactics on you that you will adapt to.
If you find the notion of remembering what a few dozen heroes can do intimidating, just remember that you can remember how to drive/bus/walk to probably a hundred different places and you probably learned to do so relatively effortlessly. Don't regard learning what all the characters do as difficult because it legitimately isn't.

I've gotten about 4-5 as mercy, generally it involves you being in a boring game and either getting a 3+ man revive that resulted in something decent or stringing together a revive+kill+assist a teammates ultimate. If anyone else managed to get something decent then you're not going to make it.

In competitive environments Zenyatta would put harmony on genji/tracer for eternal harassment provided the tracer/genji was worth their salt.
Discord was done very much the same way. Zen would discord the enemy flanker and just leave it on them so as to effectively -1 the enemy team.
Pubs are obviously not comp and it has made Zenyatta fucking obnoxious to play as. The three second limit means discord isn't even threatening to get hit by and it forces Zen to remain by his often more mobile heal targets, making him shiity-proto mercy.
The LoS change was just retarded. It should have been a flat 10 second duration for both orbs before auto return. That allows for some disengagement/harass with harmony and allows your team to follow up on your discorded opponents.

Mercy is god tier in pubs, far more healing than Lucio and with a tank to heal she can almost always have her ult up. The only time I'd ever pick Lucio over Mercy is on king of the hill, even then having both of them on the same team can be ridiculous.

You can't seem to understand the concept of NO COOLDOWN on either of his orbs. If you put it on a Reinhardt and he backs away to make it wear off you've already done a good job, if he pops back out in 3 seconds after he sheds his orb then you can just put it right back on him.
Zen always has and still does insane damage, he can sit behind his tank and plink away at turrets, enemy tanks, and even shut down characters like Pharah. Harmony could probably be increased to 5 seconds but other than that hes now actually closer to being balanced.

Currently no tanks have long range, so it'd be interesting to see if they could make a ranged tank. A builder tank would be interesting too, although I have no idea what they would build.
Also, all of the tanks are fairly mobile, even Reinhardt has his charge when he isn't holding up the shield. It'd be interesting to see a tank that's more about static defense points. Although, to be fair, that's sort of what Mei is, since she's a rather tanky control-defense unit.
Also, the differences and best ways to use the tanks really become apparent once your team has two tanks, since one tank really just means it's your job to get shot. Comparison needs some good contrast.

I frequently get top three damage with D.Va. Reinhardt's axe demolishes people. Zarya at full charge is a monster.
The strength of Winston's lightning is that it auto hits multiple people, allowing him to jump into the middle of the enemies squishy support and attack units and either hurt all of them or force them to break up. As Lucio, Winston is the one tank I actually worry about because I can't kite lightning.

Reaper is a good tank counter, since we can force himself into his engagement range, shred them, and then shift back out, with the HP to take their close range weaponry.
The counter to tracer is grouping up and forcing her to commit to situation where her mobility isn't enough to overcome her low hit pool, or be irrelevant. However, the counter to a well grouped up team is Junkrat and Pharah, so a team with Tracer and Junkrat can do pretty well.
