Since the thread seems to keep dying without any drama around, let me make some. I did an edit to Tao's recent character design, but probably not the one most people were expecting. Her lips are fine, but I prefer girls with a clearer skin tone, so I erased her freckles. Opinions?

I remember in old /ic/ people used to constantly get critiques of their artwork. Should change this, change that, I don't like this, this is too short, etc, etc. Eventually you'd end up with a husk of a character that has no appeal. Like some kind of Frankenstein born out of everyone's separate ideologies of exactly what a character should be.

A book and a KN should not be compared to each other. They are entirely different mediums, the reading experience, the writing style, everything is vastly different. It may not be for everyone, and some developers may not show it for all its strengths, but the KN medium has the potential to provide a very powerful work and should not be discounted just because it lacks choices.

Even though people think that vns should be full of choices, the fact is that many of them aren't. I've played many 25-30 hour games that either had few and far between choices, or seemingly pointless choices that didn't really effect much.
Kinetic novels are no exception. You can have transitions, animations, and changes in poses and expressions just like any other vn. The story and characters become much more important in that type of vn.

Let me repeat that for emphasis. You want people to see an LP and feel interested but unsatisfied, so they go and play the game themselves.
If a game is SHORT, and has NO CHOICES, why would the watchers go and buy it? They've just been given the whole thing on a platter.
If a game is LONG, then only cheapskates are going to watch the whole thing in an LP (which might never finish). Many players, if they're interested, will drop the LP and go to play the game themselves. If they're not interested enough to buy at all, or can't afford it, they'll just stick with the LP.
If a game has CHOICES, then you watch the LPer and you think "I wouldn't do that, I would do this instead" and that motivates you to go get the game yourself.

Well, from personal experience, if I watch a game on a letsplay I have no incentive to play the game. That's how I view most games now. Watching other people play them. For something like a visual novel, I can't really see it being that good of a thing to have someone play your game in it's entirety. TB is a different story though, since he would just review it (he doesn't review VNs btw).

Look at the playtime of people doing LPs with intro and outro and reading every single line aloud and pausing to make jokes. If it's only taking THEM 2-3 hours, it's a lot faster for people just reading the thing.

Kickstarter works through bank transfers, Indiegogo with paypal. Ignoring the fact that I would be taxed on the spot for the amount (and that the process to open a US account became too expensive recently), if the currency exchange rate were to fluctuate drastically like it has been in the past months I'd risk losing as much as 20% of the money when I had to pay people.
This wouldn't be a problem if we made a lot of $$ over the goal, but if we only got the 11k then we'd be short.

So, for numerous reasons, I decided to go for a separate CG artist from the main sprite artist I have for my monster girl game.
Obviously their style wasn't going to be able to 100% match the sprites, but I feel like they've done a really good job so far. Maybe the faces look a little different, but I'm hoping it won't be too jarring for people when it swaps between the two.
