Honey's basic personality, mannerisms and mean streak are lifted from the archetype FV Honey embodies. I doubt they did extensive research, but there was already a good bit of context for her personality and disposition.
On Breezie...well, she had as much depth as every recurring AoStH character. Which is to say not much, she was just a femme fatale who decided she didn't wanna be that anymore and married Robotnik Jr. Archie Breezie barely carries over any of that, but her slight fondness/respect towards Sonic and lightly implied feeling for one of the doctor's creations is probably going to crop up again.

As for the comics themselves, you can go about them 2 ways.

The bomber jacket and hat gave her design a TON of personality. I still think I'm fondest of that look. However, her reboot design has really grown on me in terms of it's simplicity, which I think is also spurring a lot more art to be drawn of her.
