No. You get the trinkets back if somebody survives the battle.
Did that thread actually reach limit or did a janitor sweep through like a dick?

Battles against absolute madmen are so fucking unsettling.

How in the fuck did you survive a champ dungeon with 4 Aunties?

Just started over myself.
If you feel you're strong enough to take an antiquarian with you, do it.
If you loot shit while she's selected you always get bonus loot that adds up really fast.

bandages > almost everything in champion cove
Rookie here, I just went through a early ruin run, about 8 weeks in. I passed by this weird curio that asked for a Torch. It was going on about the way to ruin, and if I seek the void...
Yeah I didn't have any more torches so I passed it by feeling pretty bummed, until I just looked at the fucking wiki!
Dodged that bullet...
>>136126279
He gives good trinkets. So if you see him when you've got like level 2 armor and skills, fuck that fucker.
>>136126279
awww anon, he just wants a hug, look at him
>>136126279
Oh, and I saw two of them, is that weird? They were two rooms away, I found myself really cursing my lack of torches, and promising to bring more.
>>136126430
I heard somewhere that I shouldn't make any upgrades till I get at least 60000 gold as a cusion, so I haven't really upgraded shit. I've just been trying to find a decent way to make munnies. So far really wishing I had another Vestal and Antiquier...
Hey is there a limit to bad quirks you can have? I mean I know its impossible to stop them from coming, and way to expensive to purge them all, so I figure I just need to learn to live with them when they aren't a massive pain in the ass... Just like my OCD in real life!
>>136126845
Upgrading a team or two for bosses is fine. As long as you have 4 free slots in your roster you can always hire 4 level 0 heroes and do a short mission for money.
>>136125174
>same champion cove run
>snail hits crusader with brine
>HEMOPHILIA
>>136126845
5 good perks and 5 bad perks is the limit. 3 bad perks will be locked in over time, and you can lock in 3 good perks for money. the other 2 will be switched out when you get new positive/negative quirks.
>>136126845
You can have up to 5 good and negative quirks. You character can have only 3 locked for both +/-.
>>136127216
>>136127248
Thanks guys, any particular perks to watch for and get rid of ASAP? I figure the Yips looks pretty devestating in the long run.
>>136127760
Any perk you think is worth getting rid of, you should. Since they'll lock in over time and that'll cost you more money to get rid of. Things like "can't use X for stress relief" or "-2 speed under 25 torch" are things you can consider just leaving.
>>136127760
All -manias must go. Immediately. No matter the cost.
Good quirks are everything that gives +ACC, +DMG, and Eldritch Slayer.
Should I feel like scum for only using kickstarter heroes at this point?
[Spoiler] I don't feel bad really, makes it less annoying waiting for specific heroes
>>136128567
Speed quirks are instalock in my opinion, barely any trinkets give you speed and even just an extra +2 is significant compared to what quirks usually provide.

Janitors don't just delete threads they don't like on /vg/, if they did, /ksg/ wouldn't exist. It's a pretty fast board.
I'd be thrilled if we got more traffic in here in particular. It never got shilled enough on /v/ I guess.
>>136131315
The game was streamed/run into the ground before it even came out. Besides maybe Vinny, nobody plays this anymore. Just look at the viewer counts on Twitch.
>>136123384
>Find out you can upgrade someone's armor/weapons/skills to level 4 at level 3

Upgrades make all the difference in the world at veteran level.
>>136132424
>>136131539
It's not a viewer heavy game though, multiplayer gets all the high numbers.
MOBAs, Starcraft, Hearthstone, CoD - all high
People love New Vegas but it doesn't get amazing streaming results (although Fallout threads remain active)

its not as 'fun' to watch as it is to play since so much time is spent thinking about your moves w/ lots of down time between battles. Like idk about you but I spend a good 10-15 minutes in the hamlet after most missions so I can't see that being super fun to watch.
>>136136110
I agree with you, that's what I'm saying - it's not a game that will ever get good Twitch numbers so that's not a fair measure of health

>>136137179
>Plus I usually get plenty of good stories from these threads
totally agree, these threads are way better than any stream i could possibly watch
>>136137179
Yeah, the threads have editing and presentation.
It's the difference between watching football live and watching the highlight reel later. Highlights takes up just 5 minutes and has all the best parts - and the casters never make a mistake.
I have a Vestal on my team, but what should I replace on my Arb out of Sniper Shot, Sniper's Mark, Bola, and Blindfire?
For note, the other two I have is Bounty Hunter and Houndmaster. Trying a marking fight on the prophet guy. Which I realize belatedly may be a bad idea.
>>136139198
Both Bola can Blindfire can be used to hit the front ranks with Arbalest. Choose the one you like the most.
You can turn off Sniper's Mark if you have nobody that benefits from marked enemies on your team. You can switch out your skills at any time outside of battle.
>>136130630

>>136142438
I swear the stars are stacked against Antiquarians or something.
Every party I've made with one runs into disaster.
>>136142662
Honestly, it was my mistake for running out of torches so fast. I wasn't expecting to be killed by a group of fucking spiders.
... Again.
But no, I feel like if you're running low on gold, she's fucking great. But every other time, she becomes a HUGE liability. Like some sort of high risk, high reward play.
I do like her dodge buff though, it's fucking great.
Do you guys ever forget to change your skills before fighting a boss? I forgot to equip the mark clear ability on my arbalest before going to the boss room and wound up losing two guys.
>>136131315
We could always merge with /indie/ if traffic slows down too much.
I tried this game right before it was officially released but I refunded it. I kind of want it now. Should I? How's the difficulty curve? Is the community alive?
>>136146258
The game can be really unforgiving at first and still a little less after dozens of hours, but after some time you'll begin to understandand remind yourselfthat most time you fail at something, it was your fault. RNG can and will fuck you over at any point, but trust me, when you know what you're doing, the game changes. With enough skill (for this game, a mix of knowledge, good strategy and good luck) you can overcome the majority of the hardships and challenges you face with little to no losses, and the times you end up turning the tables on a shitty situation feel fucking amazing, it's incredibly rewarding to do something right.
Not sure about the community, though. Kinda dead here.

>>136166536
M@A (rear buff support, could probably use Jewfu instead), HM (guard M@A/Jewfu), HM (guard Hellion), Hellion (damage)
Stack dodge on the HMs to ridiculous highs with guard dog, have your position 4 mostly spam their party dodge buff, hellion kills as needed. When just two fishmen are alive, have the rank 3 houndmaster spam his stress heal and return everyone back to full hp / no stress.
Only works in areas with few to no AOE attacks, which is only really the Cove.
>>136179361
Combo her with MAA or HWM. That's the best way to use her without her feeling like complete deadweight.
Give her speed/scouting trinkets, or leave slots empty if it's a Long Mission so she can carry the trinkets you find in the dungeon itself (with her ability to create them at campfires its possible you'll get one she can carry)/
The other two don't matter. You could have two Antiqs and make them guard two riposters on the frontline but you'll find it hard to mitigate the damage so it's best to just stick with one, and make your party more balanced.
>>136166536
PD, GR, Abom /HM, M@A.
This team works pretty much everywhere though.
>>136184827
No healer ?
>>136185075
You don't need heals when you have that many stuns and Bolster.
>>136179361
See:
>>136184572
I've not tested it out with the Jewfu yet, but I have tried it with the M@A and it works great, whereas the Jewfu's role would be almost identical except she would also have a targetable heal.
>>136166536
Vestal - heals, stuns
HM - marking and damage, stress heal or guard in a pinch, can be swapped forward for stunning
BH - Main damage dealer, pulling, stunning
M@A - Stunning, buffing, guarding
This party runs a lot of stuns to mitigate enemy effectiveness and make guards irrelevant. -prot mark makes the three main prot enemies (sea maggot, crushers, and guard spammers) go down much easier.

I feel like a lot of people make the mistake of going into veteran without upgrading weapons and armor. You can go all the way up to level 4 gear and skills at level 3 resolve.
Rookie here, I'm about 10 weeks in, and I've been working really hard to keep anyone from dying. I've bailed out of three different quests to do so... But should I? I mean it occurs to me that I've got three new schmucks showing up every time I come back, so this early should I even care about keeping them alive that badly? Should I be more brutal, and let them die as long as one or two make it back with the goods?
>>136199569
Low level heroes are literally your least valuable resource. Unless you're playing from a roleplay perspective, they are expendable. Once you start really spending money on them with higher level gear and quirks it's a different story, but when you have a dozen new guys coming in every week losing one or two isn't a problem.
Haven't played for quite a while, is the Antiquarian worth it? Seems like she'd be more of a risk than anything else, since I'd essentially only have 3 heroes.
>>136199569
>>136201317

>>136201839
It depends on if you need money or not
>>136201839
She will usually add 5500 in value to an expedition, and each time you camp she has the potential to pull one trinket at complete random of any rarity, so you have equal chance of getting a stun stone or a sun ring or a blasphemous vial, etc.
She's definitely better than no hero at all. Nervous stab may not look like much but it's a fine finisher, think Sacrificial Stab on the Occultist. Protect Me is her signature skill and what you'll use the most. The ability to funnel attacks is always worthwhile and the prot/dodge bonus it gives is enough to make lighter heroes a lot less squishy. Combines in a powerful way with riposte heroes (HWM, M@A) or even just to make your normal tank tankier.
>>136203749
I'd say she adds more like 7500

Only used her a few times, but her blight is pretty decent, so I like her for Ruin runs. Also I've heard good things about teaming her up with a MAA, and making him her meatshield while retribution is up.
>>136204818
She works well with HWM for his Riposte as well.
14 weeks in, only one vestal... I'm feeling the pain.

Alright, thanks.
Getting the feeling that gold drops have been increased in general though, I am getting tons right now.
>>136205340
Get some Occultists and Arbalests, but don't fret. The campaign is a long, victory will come. Evil is... timeless after all.
>>136205528
She awards antiques that stack to values far higher than gold whenever you use her to inspect a curio and also from every fight. Also she increases gold stack size by 500 per antiquarian.

it seems you can get a "critical hit" in loot drops.
Some dungeons I barely get anything at pitch black darkness, in others I get multiple sapphires and rubies by killing spiders.

Best universal party to fight any long champion dungeon:

3|Jester
2|Houndmaster
1|Hellion

>1 obstacle in each, both remaining rooms have a fight, and also one hall fight
Who here leveled all their heroes to 6 before even thinking of taking them on boss missions?
>>136221220
Champion boss missions I mean
>>136221220
I'm already getting my shit pushed in by spooky skeltal groups who have size 2 in them onfucking yellow missions what the shit.
I'm noway near red missions.
>>136222237
Size 2 enemies are all nightmares who require being stunned at least every other turn. And some kind of blight will work against that skeleton's bullshit protections.
>>136222961
It's only 33% protection, target whistle will shave off 27% of that AND mark
>>136223791
>put houndmaster in every party

Not enough
>hand button does the thing for most curios
>but if you press it on a roadblock you shovel manually
why this red hook
>>136225450
>Using a hand and not an item on 90% of curios
Your dungeon runs are about 70% less profitable both in heirlooms and money than they could be
Okay, what would be a good team comp for the Brigand 12 pounder? I didn't care too hard for apprentice, but I keep hearing the pounder is the most difficult boss and I don't want to lose any of my guys now, plus I have to get all the veteran bosses done before my guys hit 5.Unrelated: My Hound Master just got Evasive, Tough, AND Hard Skinned. Locking that shit in pronto.
>>136225450
>hand button does the thing for most curios
>using the button
>ever
If you don't have the item for a curio, you normally want to skip it outright.
Unless you actually LIKE piling up stress and bad quirks.
>>136226459
Marking is pretty much the only thing you can do to the pounder, so I suggest building a mark team
BH, HM, Arbalest, Vestal
HM gears for speed (Ancestor's Candle/Berserk Charm) so he can be sure to mark first, as the character with the lowest damage. HM can be used for his great stun rate when not refreshing a mark.
Vestal can divine comfort since pounder usually involves a lot of area damage
Arbalest and BH build for damage.
>medium cove
>bring four shovels so I can bust crates after clearing an blockage or two
>run total: zero blockages, one chest
>>136231943
Total cost: 600 gold
Peace of mind: priceless
What team do you usually use against the witch?
I can fight the Lv.5 one now but I'm really scared of losing my guys as even the other hags were strong as fuck.
>>136232108
Aren't shovels 250 each?
>>136231932
My only BH is level 1 at the moment, gonna need an alternate party
>>136232737
BH are great for boss killing, you should seriously consider leveling one up. That's when they shine the most.
What do you have to work with?
>when everybody on screen dies to bleed/blight one after another
>>136232903
Everything but BH, Abom and M@A. I have those 3, but I've not gotten around to getting them to level 3 yet.
Crusader and HWM are a pair only though since I've only got the one each and I hope you know which ones.
>>136233723
Bring whoever you have with the highest flat-out damage. Usually lepers with +acc or hellions.
Pounder is a hard boss because there are no real tricks - forget about blighting, bleeding, debuffing or anything but raw force to get through that prot.
I will FEAST on your HEART!

who's good for Champion Siren?
> antiquarian has trap disarm 90%
> gets fucked up 2 out of 2 times
what is this even
>>136240532
Trap disarming isn't a simple 0 to 100% chance, traps have hidden resistance to being disarmed a little bit like trying to inflict blight on enemies.
>find a map and the secret room before even the first fight of a long run
Off to a good start.
What's the name of the tavern in the hamlet?
Name it, /dadg/.

The Singing Shoggoth.
>>136240136
A lot of comps can make it, no particular one is necessary. Just bring a lot of debuff resist and holy water.
Stuns are helpful as well as blight in case she spawns a guardian.
