Jokes aside, part of it was because I was going to play the game with someone else, but it was hard to coordinate play times with them and then they remade the character to pick another class. It also took me forever to warm up to FM. Those are my only excuses.

I view two weeks to 45 as a good thing. I take my time too. Gives you chance to absorb the story properly, get little achievos on the way, immerse in the atmosphereand write little headcanon stories about which npcs your character probably fucked on the way.
I play with people that tend to really race for level caps at the expense of everything else, including eating and sleeping, but I never let it stop me taking my time. When you look at the content in an MMO, about 80% of the zone, dungeon and story assets are in the levelling, and the other 20% is the end cap content. Makes sense to make the 80% last as long as you can before you repeatedly do nothing but the 20% for days on end.

I dunno if someone's pointed this out before, but you can earn up to 105 achievement points just by unsocketing and resocketing a gem 500 times. Make sure to use a triangular or square gem though for the lower unsocketing cost.
