This new shaman card, im sorry to say, is useless.
Not because the card itself is bad, but shaman already have the means to survive a midrange / control setup.
People dont play midrange / control because shaman has no late game win condition. The only win condition now is spell burst and doomhammer + rockbitter (which is a pretty weak combo compared to other classes combos), which push the aggro side.
If we got a strong late game win condition legendary like Jaraxxus or tyrion, we could have a decent midrange / control shaman. Just tossing heals in a class which only dmg comes from aggro playstyle wont work.

That feel when Scavenging Hyena, Houndmaster and Ram Wrangler are bad cards because they're situational and need other beast to work properly and even in beast-heavy deck it can be hard to keep beast on the board for more than one turn. And the mana cost of any potential combo is often a big no-no meanwhile in any other game those cards would be nice.
Being able to attack other minion was a mistake. You can't set up any strategy relying on the board because anything on the board is terribly short-lived. Midrange decks are bad, you either go fast with tempo or face decks or you stale the game until you're ready for OTK or Fatigue, the only in-between might be zoolock deck and even those decks rely on big finishers.

Al'Akir is a fine card (it's 12 with a Rockbiter btw, retard) - it's just a control card in a midrange deck. If Shaman had more control-oriented card, like their new legendary actually, that help them reach the late game or control the board, he'd be a staple.

Just spend your gold from quest on classic packs for now. When your deck gets better, look for cards found in specific adventure wing (LoE). If you want any, head for that, otherwise spend on the current expansion. I can actually hold my own even with a ''new'' account on EU.
