That is usually the case. More often than not I end up with a super passive support that only stays in lane to sap XP and fuck with my CS/Lane control. Fast forward to the start of the midgame, the enemy offlaner has more xp/gold than he should have and I start getting 4 man ganked. a few things that will behoove you greatly to learn if you are a 3k carry:

Blades used to be the pick to build into phase but it's all about brown > bot now so Null is the better choice for Q/E for dmg, int and hp buff early

WK is a great teamfighter especially against a hero like Tide who is generally a non-issue after he's ulted, he can frontline in and die once to the ravage, and then they can't do shit to him afterwards. he is also another good pick-off hero if he gets a blink, that stun is excellent. and he helps with pushing due to aura
enemy also had bad anti-push. DP wave is the only spammable long range nuke, maybe you can count DK fire. just snipe one or both of those two with your pick-off power, plop down a pugna ward, have WK frontline, and take the tower. repeat, eventually grab rosh, repeat with high ground

You see, in lol, there is no passive stance, your hero is always attacking creeps in range. So if you don't want to just stand there autoattacking you keep spamming right clicks to wade left and right behind your creep wave. It's also encouraged because everybody and their grandma has spammable skillshots in that game so you have to be mobile.
Then they get to DotA and do the same thing, and they miss all their cs because they are never facing the creeps so their shots come out at unpredictable times. Add to that the fact that csing is harder in doto because you do less damage to creeps and it's a source of frustration.

Before anything else, Meepo (along with every micro hero) trumps them in terms of mechanical skill. I've played a lot of Riven and Lee Sin in LoL, and while they're flashy, overall they're not that hard to play. Riven is actually easy as fuck and Lee Sin's hardest thing to execute is probably the Q dash into placing a ward behind someone, W dashing to the ward and ulting.

Yeah. Skillshots have basically two ranges: close range where the player casting the skillshot has no excuse missing and long range where the player casting it should not hit it against a good player. Between the two, it's up to chance / mindgames.
There's not much mechanical skill to landing a skillshot, it's actually about forcing the enemy into a position where he has to eat it.
