There should be collectible insects on different planets that we can catch.

High Risk High Reward Gameplay - Since I am the best Pirate player around I should be able to stop and rob a Hull E in my Hornet Ghost. The Cargo Capacity of the Ghost SHOULD NOT be an issue.

>>
>>136006732

Serious question - what is wrong with the 325a?
>>
>>136008501
Poor cargo storage and inefficient use of interior space. It flies alright though.
>>
>>136008501
Same thing that's wrong with the rest of the 300 series: the ship was a very early design that never got update. This ship was one of the first designs they ever put together and got put into the game, and its physical model has very, very little. The large issue is the 300 series was created when their idea of engines and other component sizes was not yet complete.

This caused the 300 series to remain a bloated ship with very few actual features. Its engine and power plant are massive yet offer essentially no benefit for their size. The interior cabin is awkward and malformed, with plenty of unused space with no actual purpose. You can't place cargo in between the gull wing doors, your bed is a small fold out cot compared to the bed-in-the-wall of the Avenger or even the Aurora. The cockpit has not been updated in ages, so it has no MFDs.

Its loadout is okay for what it is, but the weapons being on the wing tips and not underneath the wings was a very poor choice, allowing you to lose them rather easily in firefights.

The 300 series has been neglected since the beginning, because its not a ship slated to show up in Squadron 42, so it was left on the sidelines while other ships like the Avenger came into their own.

The 300 series desperately needs a complete do-over, and I don't think there's many who would object to something even as extreme as a completely new model shape. The current ship model is too constrained by the differences between its concept and the reality of the game we play today.

Thanks.

I knew about the bad design decisions made (and agree with all of them), I thought maybe there was something wrong with the 325a specifically.

The 300 series falls prey to one of the dumbest design decisions that was made quite a few times for the early SC ships - being able to expose your "living quarters" to hard vacuum and in fact being forced to do so if you want to enter/exit your ship outside of atmosphere.

Technically you've got a docking point at the top of the ship (which honestly every ship that has any sort of interior space larger than just "cockpit chair" absolutely needs to have), but ships like the Aurora, non-racing Mustangs, or the Avenger can be entered and exited in space while leaving their living areas pressurized. Shit the Avenger can even do so from either end.

Gull wing doors on the 300 series are dumb, it should just a regular side door with a one-man sized airlock, the interior on the 300i should just be living space similar to the Mustang Beta (since it's a "touring" ship). The interior on the 315p should be long range scanning stations, and the interior on the 325a should just be weapons storage. The interior on the 300r should be absolutely nothing, because it's a racing ship and the goal would be to reduce weight as much as possible.

None of the ships described in the 300 series needs to be hauling cargo. It's a space BMW, the only cargo it needs to hold is your suitcase on your trip to Risa 3 for your stay at a space casino.

The more I read about SC, the more I wish for a similar title with a more arcade-style feel.
Funky colors, no toilets in ships, ridiculous backstory, actually interesting systems instead of autismal stuff (like, say, a planet where a shaman mis-aimed a spell and, instead of evaporating a little shit, he turned everyone into zombies - landing there would give you appropriate missions), space hulks, etc.

None of that IMMERSION shit that generally destroys most genres when taken too far.

>>
>>136075158
Both elevators lead to the same deck, but the starboard one is pointless since you can just take the ladder and arrive in the same place. Also nobody is going to use it to reach the crew deck anyway because it would require people to walk all the way through central engineering instead of just taking the port elevator.
>>
>>136075284
Oh, and replacing it would free up 2 rooms which could be used for whatever purpose. Engineering storage or so next to the starboard crawlspace and some additional facilities on the crew deck.

you do know that reuseing components is a real life thing right?

auto manufactures will reuse car components like engines, starters, window motors, seat-belt locking mechanisms, tires, ect...

both ships are aegis, this would only be a problem if it was aegis and anvil components being reused in an RSI ship. also they have long ago decided that ship manufatures will have a simaler style across their ships, think F-22 and the F-35
>>
>>136082853
Sure, but I'm just mad that they ruined the Vanguard like that. Sabre was supposed to be fast-tracked by using components etc. that already exist, and yet it's entirely original while the Vanguard is a kitbash of Retaliator parts and the Sabre cockpit. I can somewhat accept the exterior design changes to fit in with the rest of the lineup, but even the interior is terrible.

I'm poor so what I did was buy one with $30 of store credit, then wait 24 hours and then melt it, buy another one wait 24 hour and melt it... etc. I kept one, but now I have four LTI Archimedes I can repurchase at any time. I also have an LTI Titan pledge I can rebuy as well.

I'm thinking of selling them on lebbit but I'm not sure if I want to deal with those assholes.

Space bike meme ship by Drake
Lost some poll about which ship should be concepted a while ago, but people kept whining for years, so they decided to build it anyway.
>>
>>136080484
Now I'm brainstorming X3-like ship designs for Star Citizen.
Like random elevators that lead into dead ends that look like random antennae from the outside. They can be ejected to kill confused boarders.
Also really fucking obnoxious flight behavior and completely FUBAR internal designs that make it impossible to determine if you've damaged a vital component or just a random stack of redundant armor that was used to reinforce a structure that would otherwise be unconnected because the designers fucked up with aligning parts of the ship when making the blueprints.
Some rooms don't even have oxygen, while others contain re-purposed thrusters used to fill the room with air.
And there are families of smaller alien species living in the crevices of the ship. There is a random chance to have a xenomorph make a nest in a dark corner of the ship and occasionally troll the pilot by killing his passengers. If you are lucky, you can negotiate a non-aggression pact that requires you to bring it a nice human-and-metal meal once in a while.
Then it won't kill you, but might randomly fuck with your ship to make the lighting creepier and shit.
During a fight it might save your ass by manning a turret, killing boarders or replacing the dead dude at the engineering control panel.

>>136110181

On a more serious note, why does a ship this small even have elevators? a pair of ladders at every elevation change is more than adequate and in an emergency they are much faster/can move more people per floor per time period. The full flight of stairs going up to the living area also just seem like a giant waste of space compared to a pair of ladders.
>>
>>136149104

They have elevators for moving shit around.

Can't exactly carry a crate of food up to the galley and climb up the ladder at the same time.
>>
Is there any hope for the RSI community or is it pretty much shit now too?
>>
>>136150616
Then you just need 1 medium sized freight elevator running through all levels of the ship and everything else can be ladders. Still takes up less space and provides faster and more effect movement.
>>
>>136154842

That's true, but the post he was referring to was asking why a space freighter had elevators at all.
>>
>>136153212
Every community that talks about Star Citizen turns to shit.
>>
>>136154842
Why does your house have stairs instead of ladders? They're a huge waste of space, anon.
>>
>>136160663
Stairs are easier/comfier, my house is a place of leisure, "wasting space" is a common theme.

A Starfarer is a work ship, you're not living on it full time, and it's also not a building, you've got limited space on how you can fit everything you want into it, and with how small it is compared to what you'd expect it to have, those full flight of stairs and the robust elevators for one level are a complete waste of space. Even modern cargo ships don't have stairs like that in them for the crew that's spending weeks at a time aboard. Instead they use those ladder-stair hybrids which are much more compact.
>>
>>136161756

Spacing in videogames is almost always exaggerated in order to make it easier for players to move through levels.

This is why living rooms in houses are huge, furniture is always arranged against walls, etc.
>>
>>136153212
>>136157759
It's because there's not enough to do at the moment so it's all just hype and speculation. In the absence of anything to do (ie. play the fucking game) the community just delves into drama and "HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS IS BROKEN IN THE GAME THAT I HAVEN'T REALLY PLAYED YET I AM WORRIED" threads. The RSI community is way to politically correct and care bear to really be any fun. The moderators try to make everyone feel safe. I find this funny since the game by CR's own admission is going to be pretty brutal in places like non-secure space and when dying.

I wonder who has spent the most on Star Citizen?

I remember reading about one guy who had spent over $30,000 over the course of two years. Whats funny is that people will need statements like this, but fully verified before they even consider that the game is not possible in a reasonable amount of time.

Nevermind the common sense that 100 star systems, trade, instancing, landing zones, mining, balancing etc.. cant magically appear within the next 3 years.

I dont know how people can keep lying to themselves that production will catch up when the other modules took so long.

>>
>>135979287
Way late, but yeah that was a short story by Larry Niven about first contact between humanity and the Kzin (asshole space cats that CR based the Kilrathi on).

Mankind in the future basically reaches a golden age of peace and space travel, evidence of violence and war has been removed from our culture and even remotely violent thought is considered a rare mental illness.

A human spacecraft encounters a Kzin warship in first contact. The human crew gets excited and try hailing the Kzin. The Kzin stay silent, scan the human ship, find out it has no armaments, and decide to use radiation weapons to slowly cook the humans inside because the Kzin are cruel asshole spacecats that kill everything if they can get away with it.

Humans quckly realize what the Kzin are doing when it heats up in their ship, panic because they can't imagine why sentient beings would attack unprovoked (or at all), and one crewmans survival instinct kicks in for the first time in hundreds of years and he rotates their main drive thrusters towards the unshielded warship, and vaporizes it with the plasma from their thrusters before the Kzin realize the humans aren't just running away.

tl;dr: The general gist is that humans are natural problem solvers and the quickest solution is to kill the problem.

Meanwhile whomever is driving the NPC enemy (from Carebear's perspective) could be engaged in a "kill xyz[dependent on faction or rep] hostile" mission.

Too good for CIG to actually implement.

Personally I hope the PVP slider is more of a placebo effect thing.

I can see it all now:

Some obsessed carebear records all verifiable instances of player versus player interaction, categorizes it, and uses the statistics to prove that the PvP slider doesn't actually work.

Queue mass ass ravagery.

I like the design, less wasted space. It took backers to jump their shit so they'd redesign the connie and that took a while. As much as I like it, I'd rather see the 300 series get a redesign/fixed first.

But, if they keep this stuff up the game will never be finished.

They get so close to doing a good thing but then fuck it all up.
