>What is Pokken Tournament?
Pokken Tournament is a game made by Namco Bandai that is a blend of Tekken and action-fighting games like the Naruto Shippuden series made by the same developer.
>So what are the basics?
You have three basic attack buttons: Weak, Strong, and Pokemon Attack.
Using certain button combinations you can use Counter Attacks or Grabs which can counter attack moves or grab a blocking/shielding opponent respectively.
These form a triangle:
Counters beat Basic Attacks, Grabs beat Counters, and Basic Attacks beat Grabs. Guarding protects against everything but grabs, but certain attacks will do a small amount of damage even through guard.
In Field Mode your weak attacks are typically projectiles and strong attacks are typically melee attacks that track/home. In Duel Mode, weak attacks and strong attacks are both typically melee and not tracking.

Field Mode is the initial stage of combat where you may move your pokemon freely, and Duel Mode is the second stage of combat that is more akin to other fighting games where you fight on a 2D playing field. Doing enough damage, using certain attacks, or grabbing your opponent will shift play between these different combat stages.

After completing the initial menu tutorial and picking a partner pokemon, pick Online Battle from the main menu / world map.

Teleport cancels, has no hitbox in a lot of moves, stupid mixups and zoning, Machamp level damage (just not as easy to get), best mobility in the game.
The teleports off everything is probably the most bullshit, he can vanish and not be touched for a while and come out with a different move. If he does it on an air move he can teleport into the air again or immediately to the ground.
Like one of his most bullshit mixups is doing air special and teleport cancelling the start up and doing a throw. If done early the purple shit of the air special will come out but not the move itself, making the opponent scared to push a button he'll get hit and allowing you to grab without the opponent being in block stun.

Did some testing, this may not be 100% accurate but from what I'm noticing, projectiles can damage an opponent's guard and bring it all the way down to red, but it cannot destroy the guard. You need to use a physical attack to break it. Your guard's health doesn't seem to restore with time. When you get hit, it gets restored back to 100%. There may be other actions that restores it.

It's probably the only flaw the game has other than no throw teching(which becomes trivial once you really get a feel for how grabs work bar Chandelure's ranged grab).
There's very little incentive to go for long combos when you can do short easy combos for double, if not triple the damage, even if the long combo ends with a super. This is what keeps combo heavy characters such as Pikachu and Blaziken(especially Blaziken, jesus christ) out of top tier.
However, Bamco/TPC/Nintendo/whatever might fix it if the competitive scene is large enough while having an outcry to match.

They should just blanket decrease the power of moves in general if they are worried about combo chains that do 75%. That would be a prophylactic fix to the problem they are worried about, and it would incentivize discovering long combos.
Or they could just let the game develop, and if there surfaces some broken combos on certain pokemon that do 500+ damage, they could just hotfix those specifically. I don't see a reason to gimp every combo on all pokemon across the board.

It's good against grabs because you can't be grabbed during it (except of course those that grab mid-air opponents). Other attacks still have to hit before the grab as far as I know.
Are there any pokes that get more damage than chandelure off a grab?

One thing I can't decide on is which support is most optimal. I like Frogadier for the pressure but I also like Reshiram/Cresselia for obvious reasons

I'm testing it right now, from what I can tell a grab will cancel out an attack if they're input at about the same time. But it seems like light attacks never get cancelled.
So the only practical use of this move is when the enemy tries to grab you in burst mode. Situational move if I've ever heard of one.
