This whole post Drognin made makes me want to kill myself. They are basically saying they want thier game to appeal to the lowest common denominator of shitty players that exist on earth.

The sad thing is that this game will drag itself along for several more years, getting worse and worse, until its so terrible that it cant even sustain itself anymore.

Im tired of games with an amazing premise slowly turning to shit because of incompetent devs.

It also appears that alot of robocraft players think that the Proto-seeker is TOO WEAK, even though it can tear people to shreds with lockon homing bullets that bend around corners from across the map. They seriously want it to be even stronger.

Building things in starmade sucks in general. Only being able to place blocks on surfaces visible to the camera is utter shit and means it's incredibly hard to edit the inside of a ship, slabs are buggy and the interface is shit generally.

The game overall isn't interesting enough to warrant dealing with it.

Old Hawken General participant here. Basically, >>135974748 has it right. The grind for plain ingame currency was extremely tedious. You would only get a rather small amount of credits per match, meaning that grinding new mechs, weapons, and additional ability boosters and support weaponry was hellish unless you only wanted to play a couple dedicated mechs, and even then it's still a long grind to get everything you might want without paying. Did I mention that all the necessary purchasable shit (primary weapons, ability boosters, support weaponry) you can buy is only for the specific mech you get it for? Grindfest ho. Better start working through about 30 long-ass games to get one single attachment you need.

If that wasn't bad enough, the matchmaking isn't even matchmaking. Literally, it just throws you into a game with people close to your MMR, regardless if all the best players were on the opposite team. Actual decent games that had a close ending were few and far between, because about 90% of the time any mode you played would be a massively one-sided clusterfuck. This was due to some people It's an F2P title, of course the idiots had to show up just not understanding the mechanics of the game, or perhaps not bothering to learn. Too many players just treated every single mode, all four of them, like TDM. Playing with stupid people eventually made others want to stop playing. Stupid people getting shit on constantly because they couldn't be assed to push to the objective with the group, or just failing at dodging, aiming, etc. really made the game unbalanced.

To top this whole pot of "fuck your shit" off, the paywall. The mother. Fucking. Paywall. You want XP and credit boosters? Pay up. You want your mech to not look like ass? Fork over the shekels, goy. Want every attachment and weapon you might possibly need without spending a full day's worth of time trying to not get fucked over by retarded teammates?
Granted, Meteor and Adhesive Games put some damn nice work into the game. Visuals look sweet as hell, actual gameplay kicks ass when both teams are skilled, the lore of the game would make for a nice story, and they even tried catering to feminists when they started bitching about an advert with a sexy woman engineer. So they changed it to pic related. Top kek to whoever thought that up.

At the same time though, their game decisions made for some fucky balance that the best players immediately took advantage of. Flak Cannon Scouts were nearly unkillable when piloted by git gud master tryhards. EOC predators could be used to spam capture points with mines like no tomorrow, with no skill. And technicians, with their auto-lockon healing/damage beam? The worst mech by far, simply because it was so unbalanced in team-based modes. Combined with a lack of new content and a shitty profit return on the developer's investment into the game, people stopped playing, and the game stopped getting updates. People are still playing on the servers, but the numbers are probably between 10 and 200 if I had to guess. All in all, a bad ending to what could have been a good game.

And I can't find a link to it, but a few months ago there was a news article stating that Meteor had sold their Seattle office to try and cover about $2.1 million of debt. Take it as you will.

I was excited at the prospect of it, but yea it's just plain retarded. Spiders just spawn right fucking next to you, soak up ammo and maybe damage a block or two. Haven't experienced dogs in survival but they look pretty much identical. Pirates fly over and get shot down or do some damage and that's it.

I enjoy being able to duck inside asteroids easily to get at the stuff in the hollow ones easier. Otherwise though, it's a mix of being proud of my piece of shit mining ship - i'm onto the ninth one now, every single previous one has been destroyed, lost to or just inexplicably vanished as a result of bugs and netcode issues - and the fact that I think a big booster attachment thing is cool. And really i'm playing Spengies to make cool things, not purely functional and boring things.
I am aware this may be a poor choice of game for this purpose.

Never actually touched rotors. I only recently got a two-stage piston elevator more-or-less working on my WIP space station.
So far i've been attaching it with a connector mounted on rear of mining ship. Later added a large-grid landing gear clamp to help avoid any mishaps, only for that to predictably CAUSE bizarro fucking mishaps and end up removed. At this point i'm honestly considering giving the fuck up and using jump drive to get between asteroids i've already scouted instead.

That was actually the original plan. Trying to get it to work properly though caused it to spiral out of control.
First it was just those parts.
Then I realised it wasn't symmetrical and was fucking up flight so I added a second antenna.
Realised now having it fuck up flight vertically so I added some stabilising thrusters and gyros.
Then I realised this was too heavy to pull anymore so it also needed acceleration and braking thrusters.
Then I realised how energy hungry this would be for the small ship's reactor so added one plus some solar panels to the Booster.
Then I found it to have trouble staying connected during acceleration or braking because netcode so added a landing gear as a clamp.
That's where I reached before just giving up because it was just attracting more and more bugs and netcode issues as it went along.

I recommend that option, I have a Silverstone Raven RV02 which mounts the motherboard vertically and I had two GPUs and there was no bending anywhere. The newer models are super mega edgy but there's another case by Silverstone which is a lot less ow the edge

Flak is even more powerful since the update, missiles were left untouched, protoseekers are ridiculously no effort, wings are now fucked, auto-heal is too strong, armor strength is shit, wheels still pointless, railguns are still complete ass to aim, the list goes on and on. Fun is dead. I've been hanging on since damn near the beginning of /rcg/, but I'm really starting to get tired of Freejam's shit, especially lately. They took a step in the right direction with the update that got rid of hitscan, but then shat all over it by keeping missiles op and then decreasing lock-on time, then adding no-skill-required protoseekers.

I'm a persistent bastard so I'll hang on for a while yet, but if they continue dumbing the game down like they've been doing lately, I'm gonna have to force myself to find something else to play.

How clangy is the atmospheric travel on car and in an aircraft? You can make an airplane or some other flying thing, right?

aircraft atmos travel isn't terrible but I have run into weird bugs while getting out of a planet's atmosphere where for a split second, the ship will say "Someone else is using this ship!" while i'm the only one in it, and then it will clang and usually blow up
it only happened once or twice but it was pretty consistent when it did.

Rover travel is pretty difficult since wheels are so flimsy right now, if you make a rover it better have thrusters to un-flip it or be able to drive from any angle, or have enough gyroscopes to flip itself. There's also mods that can increase the tenacity of wheels by about tenfold and make them far more forgiving to impacts if you're not satisfied with them. I personally made a rover with a huge array of hydrogen thrusters so I could take it for short flights across really rough terrain or save it from an impact.

blaneds aren't terribly optimized and since the game has a weird speed limit of 111.5 m/s, even if you mod that limit out, doing something like flying with your jetpack faster than 111.5 m/s and then turning it off will really quickly slow you back down to 111.5 m/s even though you should be in free fall, but if you just turn your jetpack's dampeners off, you'll act as you should normally. It can also be pretty cool to build several small self-sustaining bases that generate things like oxygen or power while you're not there and revisit them later to charge your batteries or something. If you wanted to, you can set up an antenna network to make sure you can access the machines there from anywhere as long as you have an antenna near you.

View distance is all right, but the LOD textures can interact weird with what exists on the surface of a planet if you're far enough away. Cameras have a zoom feature with the mouse wheel that you can use to look at further away things.

Just put floral density onto low or off because it adds nothing but eye candy and half the time it spawns floating 1km in the sky.
