No, it should deal magic damage so it won't fall into the BRD/MCH category support role, unless they make it a generic melee but that's gonna fuck up a whole lot more than adding a 3rd caster. Since RDM can use all low to mid tier spells in FF games, I don't see why they wouldn't give it several already existing spells like fire, blizzard, thunder, ect. Since RDM wouldn't have the infinite MP gimmick like BLM, they could easily do this without simply cloning the job like they did with AST. This is of course assuming it would have SOME kind of gimmick to make it not just feel like "a BLM who has to manage resources"

I'm imagining a Warrior-esque DPS. You'll have a primary magic nuke, a primary heal, and some utilities. Every weaponskill you use gives you a resource that increases the potency of your next magic spell, so you're hitting stuff until max stacks then casting a big nuke or an emergency heal.
The traditional RDM design doesn't work at all in this game with the design space they gave us. They have a doublecasting gimmick in some spinoffs though I think, and sometimes they overlap with magic knight and spellblade classes so it'll probably be something along those lines.

The point is that a Warrior gaining 15-20 potency in their opener by using all Storm's Eye and no Butcher's Block is being counterproductive when the other tank has to lose hundreds of potency over the course of the fight by doing enmity combos after they Provoke when they shouldn't have to, and if your Warrior is going to pull and then not use Butcher's Block then you might as well just have the PLD/DRK pull in the first place.
(And no, tank stance isn't really required for mitigation purposes in Midas any more frequently than it was required in Gordias. It's very helpful, as always, but you can easily get away with a combined total of fewer than 30 seconds in tank stance throughout all of A5S and A6S, and not really make life much more difficult for your healers.)

Putting up Storm's Eye 3 GCDs later is much more than 15-20 potency. Maybe 10-15 pps loss for the entire fight because Berserk/Infuriate timers are set back, sure.

You don't gain 15-20 potency. You gain more around 100 potency.
Regardless, I agree. You shouldn't forgo a Butcher's Block combo if you're MTing without a NIN for saftey's sake.
