Beating the boss gets you the soul to make the Loyce Greatsword, which is probably the best greatsword in the game and one of the best dex weapons. It has 100% dex scaling (making it one of the highest scaling dex weapons) and has the moveset of a longsword when twohanded.

meanwhile i got invaded again heading to ivory king and got teleported and stabbed for all my health, every status effect, and broke all my gear while his phantom was still spawning in
and red soapstone summons are always meta tryhards that i cant even scratch and kill me in 3 swings with no chance at retaliation

I've never played Bloodborne, but I'm pretty sure this dude is right. Long-range pokes always win in Souls PvP.
I've pretty much mained Dragon Form for PvP after I discovered it a couple months after Dark Souls came out in 2011.
The fact that the Roar is a free version of force that gives you a damage buff makes it STUPID good. You can easily break the guard of someone shielding and then toss a pyromancy or crossbow shot their way.
I roll with a +5 Lightning Avelyn w/ Lightning Bolts, and a Leo Ring. Easiest way to punish chuggers, turtlers, parry spammers, and magic.
Starting class is Pyromancer, 50 vit, 40 end, 16 str, 14 dex, rest is base. SL 79, I just use cracked red eye orbs to invade people.
If you wanted to use the Obsidian Greatsword w/ it, you could up STR to 20 and DEX to 16 for a total SL of 85.

Dark Souls pretty much is a fighting game already. You have zoning, hitconfirm pokes into combos, okizeme, etc.
Backstabs are basically grabs/throws, which is why everyone gets super salty if you do one twice in a row in either Souls or any fighting game.

The problem with backstabs isn't that you can do them twice in a row, it's that if any fighting game had untechable throws that do 50% of your hp it would be considered an absolute crap.
