Sapper Anon here! Sup bro!
Sapp is pretty awesome. Stokades does great damage and broom trap is super good in dungeons, especially now it's only got a 40 second cooldown.
The only downside is that most traps (other than claymore) don't hit flying mobs. Claymores are also pretty expensive (300 silver a pop) so you won't spam them as often as you want.
Other than that they're super fun to play. It's great to use Detonate Traps to nullify boss traps. The gooks love it when I destroy the necroventer's silence traps for example.

Stockades and claymores can't kill later mobs on their own fast enough, claymore is especially shit as you progress. I know you can do shenaningans and it's fun to play, but you really want to kill those magic mobs asap, not to mention the flying mobs you'll hate to the end of your life.

Claymore is good as a hidden surprise knockdown against enemies.
I use it frequently in PvP and just lie waiting for them to come by the claymore and then move in for the backstab when it connects.
