I did it mainly to construct the props
I made the Rose sword from some plywood and a few other crafting materials like paperclay. Lots of work with the belt sander and rotary tool. I made a shield out of fiberglass and EL Wire, so it glowed (had a strobe setting too, so it was fun at the rave). And I had a good curly wig.
Still one of my favorite getups I've constructed

As for my friends, the girl who I was dating at the time did Stevonnie (so I loaned her the sword for the photoshoot), and another friend did Amethyst. Amethyst friend actually won best costume at the photoshoot, mainly because she was the only one with well-applied body paint, decent props and a good gem (which I also crafted).
We were gonna have a Garnet and Pearl, but those group member flaked out on us.

I'm honestly curious here. Does one of the writers for this game have an actual heart condition, or know someone with one? This shit is eerily accurate. I have a heart condition called transposition of the great arteries, had open heart surgery when I was a month old, and three years ago (at the ripe old age of fucking 25) I had a heart attack.
