How do you get MapleStory to run in a VM?
I tried Windows Virtual PC with Windows XP mode and I can install MS but when I try to launch the game launcher, it says "Thermida, Sorry this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine". Other people have also gotten this error and have guides about registery editing (I tried that too), but it didn't work for me.
I'm thinking of trying VMWare but I don't know if I have to get a key or can I just use Windows 7 that I'm already using now?

It only stays in the air for 3s, which is fine for some bosses with i-frames, but not the harder ones that move around a lot (CVel is pretty much the same, etc). I'm sure it will be useless for Lotus, Damien, and probably Dorothy.

That article is ultra dramatized with like 80 different sources that have almost nothing to do with each other.
The reason nexon looked like it was moving into China was because they launched 8 new games there last year and 3 in korea. Half that article is talking about the midnight ban law which is entirely irrelevant, kids circumvent that anyway. It's about as sound as those warnings that you'll get in trouble if you watch porn when under the age of 18.
Not to mention they keep talking about "video game addiction" like it fucking means something. It was a test run after the little girl named love died because her fucking retarded parents were to busy playing prius to feed her.
And almost all of the buildings they set up had damn near 0% success rates. By which I mean 98% relapse rates. You can't treat addiction for something that's not an addiction. It's poor judgement and a lack of self control. Nothing about the games are physically addicting though and all the studies they did which are publicly available on the Korean health ministry website prove that. The buildings are only open because the government panicked in the face of the death of thay girl and funded them until fucking 2020.
Also they were talking about jobs in the industry which they attribute to "esports" pros which is a total crock of shit. Of course there are less people than before. No new games means no new people. And with starcraft 2 dying it's shrinking even more.

You grind elite bosses and hope to get lucky. You can probably hit max boxes in 4-5 hours, depending on how good your party is and if you get 2 boxes rather than one.
These boxes contain goodies such as 10% clean slate scrolls, 50% epic potential scrolls, 50% innocence scrolls that sell for a decent amount of meso.

I played religiously in 2005~2008, had multiple third job characters and a level 110 Hermit before I finally gave up on the game.
I can imagine the game's changed a lot in almost 10 years, but is it still alright in the 'game' aspect? I remember spending most of my time exploring and fucking around in party quests once I got tired of grinding vikings for 5 hours just for 20% of my exp bar.

Levelling is much smoother now, you can get to 4th job in less than a month even playing casually. As far as "game" goes, it's just as jewish as before. Unless you're playing reboot/solo-mode, you still have to spend monstrous amounts of cash for usable endgame gear, and most of the bosses and party quests have been reduced to grindfests for no real benefit. I've played on and off since 2007 and I feel like the community gets worse and the map gets more empty each time I come back.
I wanna go back to Maple, is there any reason to play the yuropeon version right now? Or is there no Reboot or anything yet?
Also, are there any good alternatives to Ellinia (I'll check out Aries listed in the OP)? The last time I played it was a huge shitfest where mobbing was 10x more profitable and effortless than bossing.

My opinion on post BB maple changed. I don't have anything against it. When I joined royals I just chose it because I wanted to experience the good old days of maple, but as I stayed I realized the server wasn't that great and it's not exactly what I wanted. When I was active, I think it was just kind of off-putting that few people cared about it.
I didn't want to join a post BB server since I knew nothing about it and didn't want to invest time in trying something new that I might not enjoy. But since most people here play post BB, if Dawnveil comes out, I'll consider trying something new.
I've been inactive on Royals for a few weeks now. After some friends left, I just kind of stopped playing.
There seems to be a bunch of new royallers showing up on msg lately. So it could be anyone stirring shit up.

this is kinda dead, most hidden streets have been removed and most places are now more 1 way paths with mobs that have higher scaled levels the farther you go with no surprises
party quests are basically dead content, the exception is R&J pq because it gives amazing exp, but no one even finishes the thing they just grind inside it
exp wise leveling is faster and easier, able to mindlessly spam skills and take minimal damage, even on chars where you don't spend anything on cubes training on mobs is pretty easy even lv200+, however you won't be able to even touch midtier endgame bosses without serious cubing investment
on the (iguess) bright side, maple is one of those things where the long you play you will improve and still grow, theres plenty of bullshit events and new equips that give out nice things that'll help you along and as long as you keep playing you'll keep improving, even if its only +1k range a month, thats still more than you had, etc (I have 350k range on my bucc and I've never bought 1 cube, dont playt hat much anymore either)

Mech and Wild Hunter are still the absolute best when it comes to bossing and damage output. Xbow's still relevant though if you insist on playing an adventurer. NL is really only good for mobbing now. They're pretty average on the damage charts, as opposed to the GMS you remember where hermits were the end-all-be-all when it came to damage whoring.
Really, you can play whatever you want so long as it's not Cygnus. Cygnus is garbage.
