No, they won't interrupts/player interaction with the opposing turn because then it ceases to be a background game. To be fair, it is pretty horrible to include in non-manual online TCG's and is why MTG, Hex, etc. fall on their face.

Which is why we will never have a control meta.
Control decks as a CCG concept need proactive removal to function. Without that, they are forced to be completely reactive and can't interact with threats until they've already hit the board.
This is also the reason that combo is far too powerful in Hearthstone. For example, Control Warrior and Control Priest have no way to deal with Murloc Paladin because this game doesn't provide the tools that would allow the control player to simply discard that card from the opponent's hand.
This game is absolutely ovverrun by combo decks. Almost all of the Tier 1 and 2 decks are combo decks in some way because in a game where comboing off is an inevitability due to lack of disruption, games are decided simply by who goes off first.
Aggro can win by killing the opponent before combo. Control has no way to stop the combo before it happens, so it loses.

yes, you could play a zooish mage deck and it would be quite strong. but flamewaker and mana wyrm aren't enough to turn mage obscenely op in the brawl, when there are neutral cards that are just as strong, like questing adventurer, violet teacher and summoning stone. And this was my point to being with, mage doesn't have an inherent advantage over other classes, and people running standard tempo mage lists are idiots that have no clue what they're talking about.

I'm playing patron vs a tempo mage, when he gets fucking rafaam from esportal. he picks the mummies and I have no way of clearing them, but I get close to bursting him down with grom and other chargers. It's not a monopoly if no one's willing to try. Valve could probably make a card game that's lucrative, but it wouldn't last long. Part of HS's appeal is its appallingly deep lore well to draw from, which many companies don't have.
