There's a few scenarios I can think of where porn is part of the game or on the same screen as the game (maybe it's a rhythm-fuck sim, or a puzzle game with cropped smut for character portraits), but under what circumstances would 'switching between fapping and concentrating on not losing the game so the porn stays onscreen to fap to' work well? It sounds more like an exercise in frustration or masochism.

So far this morning I have Gamepad Input set up (works pretty well), added a "souls crying" sound effect when you hit the ball and made some fire particles for the borders AND the eyes of the skulls. The skulls will start empty and black but for every point you make, an eye will light up in flames.

I also made a bit of research on what game I should be taking as an example in terms of style and NIDHOGG is probably my best bet. The gameplay is fun, the visuals are simple, the single player "campaign" is just you fighting AIs with better moves and the local coop is the main draw of the game, which is almost working right now (just need to setup all the Player 2 inputs in the input screen).

For the game to be memorable I just focus on the shooting feeling good and a win sequence that's memorable (like in Nidhogg when the worm eats you at the end).

Music will also become important to think about in the following days but a quick look at IncompeteTech gives me a few options that are alright if a little generic.

Because I want to make a 'legit' game first, and then when/if it becomes successful I will upload 'missing' chapters/mods which show what happens inbetween certain events and behind the scenes. Taking a shower for instance or maybe the main character decided to go for a gangbang after her stressful mission. I don't want people to judge the game prematurely by having porn right out the gate. Hi!

I was making something that behaves like Baldur's Gate, in the sense that there is some hand-drawn scenario over which the player moves.

I'm trying to find some half-decent algorithm I can program that:

- Makes it moderately light in CPU to check if you can move somewhere or not

- Allows also for NPC routing.

- Flexible enough so that NPCs and the player are no-go zones as well, so the NPCs can recalculate their paths.

I guess this kind of problem has been solved dozens of times before, but I have no clue where to start looking. Pic related because Yume Nikki must also use something like that.

Here's what went down.
The game looked awful, so around august last year I tried to redraw everything looking better. What I soon found out was that doing 'high res' sprites, 256x256 pixels in size was stupidly time consuming. That combined with my seriously not fun combat totally killed my motivation.

I made that witch game for halloween jam, Sorcellerie Sortie, and had fun doing it, although the sprites were considerably smaller, 64x64.
but in a week I was able to make what I needed.
I had been snowballing weather to go lower res or not, and decided to try it out.
I liked the results, so I'm in the process of redrawing things, reprogramming things, and overhauling the combat.

Hopefully I'll have something for next demoday.

Funnily enough I started my game dev adventure april last year. Almost a year later, I'm starting over.

Woo, I nearly have a combat sequence.

Gotta change how I assign attack camera positions though, currently it's just a child under the game object so it moves if the order gets swapped.
Also, may want to lower the time to completion of the attacks if the enemy is further away (goomba attacked mario much faster when he was in the back).
Then of course put in enemy death and a return to the main game and I'll have a full (though incredibly basic) combat system.

my configuration just got dicked up after trying to load it in the newest VS and i don't remember what i did 5 years ago to set it up initially. i didn't try for that long so it's probably possible to get it running again i just don't know if it's worth it. it's been long enough since i worked with it that i don't know how much of an advantage the already written code is anyway.

Damn. How do you guys ditch your components so fast. Built my computer in 2009/2010 and I'm still using the same hardware. Wasn't even that high-end either, only the processor was new at the time, first or second generation core i7, the rest of the components are mediocre. The only upgrade I made so far was to remove a fan that stopped working this year. Didn't even replace it yet.

Then again I don't mind playing games at sub 20 fps on the highest settings. But there are still plenty of games that do around 50-60 fps even at max settings.

If you want to make major progress your game have to be what you want to work on.

There's people tryingt o tell you to just do it and make a game but this is true.

Just think about it. Which game is going to be finished and well made.

The game that feels like your magnus opus, that you want to work on for 6 hours per day.

Or

The game that you feel is lost, a ghost of the past that you just feel obliged to poke every now and then with an hour of two of work to ensure that it can be called dead quite yet.

If the game feels wrong then you either

>3. keep beating a dead horse to keep in shape until condition 1 or 2 can be fulfilled.

Persistence can kill you progress just as well as being a flake can, you have to keep it balanced.
