Yeah. Steam has to "allocate space" before patching, which is shitty in general, but less noticeable on Valve's own games or games which patch infrequently. It also cooperates horribly with PoE's file infrastructure.
Try the standalone client if you like. For me it applied the patch you took 30 minutes to get in about 5 seconds.

I'd only go witch as occultist for melee CI, but yeah she looks badass with a 2h sword. Elementalist would be meh for conflux, since you're trying to oneshot trash mobs while bosses really won't die quicker from ignites/chills. Shock alone could be helpful, but you can just just add lightning damage/chance to shock and it would be more efficient.
Duelist would be champion only because you're going to get the godly leech nodes from his tree anyway, and you don't want to be stuck with a lvl1 melee splash.
Obviously assass if you're going crit daggers, and flicker tricker for generic 1h with franzy stacking. Raider gets an honorable mention here too.

Nope, it's either blood magic or bust really. I actually had a lot of success with Oro's as a templar since it's right by the ele nodes and RT, but now you also have inquisitor to replace fire pen and can concentrate on getting more defenses.

Rule of thumb though is that it is almost always cheaper to buy an item than to craft it yourself. The exception is top tier rare crafts.

LGOH has largely been superceded by leech since leech now functions against packs. With Slayer leech nodes you don't really need any leech from gems. You can also get Vitality void from that cluster or the mana leech nodes if necessary.

The tooltip dps may be inflated, by turning your physical damage into something resistable like lightning is like using a reverse lightning coil.

Have you tried restarting your PC? PoE is inflating the Windows allocated system memory over time right now, which might degrade performance. That system memory isn't freed whenever you close PoE. It requires a complete system restart.
Might not work though. I don't know why they thought Perandus was a good idea with the current state of performance. Horrendous FPS, lockups, network lag, and every other performance issue PoE has brought front and center.

It's completely dank dps wise
So far as scaling a physical attack, the way the calculation works is all phys multis take place before the conversion from the gem, then the ele damage gets it's own multis after it's derived
So something like ground slam (or eq or sunder or any phys bow shit like tornado or roa) supported by phys to light, ppad or mpd, add fire, and wed will do a ton of damage (and shit like hatred will derive from the phys before conversion)
The quality bonus is great too
The problems with it are that it's harder to leech with converted damage, and ele reflect becomes a problem
and there's often better supports for most phys things, or more important utility

ITs not about semi effectiveness. You need 30% of your total hp for it to be effective. Less means a big enough hit will kill you before enough dmg gets dispersed to mana, more means you invested more than needed into mana. (ofc that means you should have enough to cast your shit).
So at 5k hp you would want 1.5k unreserved mana or 1.5k eldricht battery es.

So basically you need your mana pool to be at the least half of your life pool for it to even work. And your Auras will ideally reserve 80-90% of that.

Well I mean it will probably be amazingly unwieldy, and you still have the massive disadvantage that Melee Splash has compared with "good" melee skills in that you need to sit in packs.

The defenses should be alright Since you will have some Evasion (probably using Carcass Jack to increase AoE) and a spirit shield or really good kite shield for more ES. Obviously a 20q Melee Splash gem is absolutely required.

Earlier today I vaaled a tabula and got +1 level to gems and I kinda want to play totems anyway (i assume those builds can get away with using tabula late game the most). As the title says, I have no clue about the builds but I had some general ideas:

spell totem with some spell+elemental focus+ ? ascendancy (what would be ideal here)

spark totem with voltaxic and drill (already have both)+GMP+pierce
As far as traps go I have no idea but if anyone has a trap build that would really benefit from the tabula, I'd love to see it. I'm also open for all other ideas, except incinerate totem (played incinerate last league).

yeah theres physical damage elsewhere on the tree, like I took the will of blades/fangs of the viper nodes, which are 48% phys and 20% crit and 20 dex and 5% ms for 3 points, beats 2 points into wand phys.
physical affects both the physical and converted lightning but not heralds, but I'm looking right now at this pictured dps on a 5L (not including conc effect +49% more) so 26% of my damage comes from lightning overall
that means that 8% pierce resistances on a 0% resist mob gives me 2.08% more overall dps

Dropping in for a bit of advice after giving PoE a more serious go this time around.
Started as a shadow with no real build direction besides physical damage and daggers since I really didn't know my way around the passive tree at all. I used Reave for awhile and didn't end up liking the character much, so I restarted as a ranger.
I noticed there's a surplus of bow damage and projectile damage nodes, So I literally just claimed all of them. I needed simplicity k.
Skill is split arrow, which I used all the way into cruel, Kaom and Daresso dreams were hell and regular packs and elites started wrecking me at this point. I haven't invested in defenses at all because I had no idea what was too much, or what was too little, or what I should be going for as a ranger.
So now I'm in cruel, getting rolled by packs when they zerg me, literally died 8 times to that one perandus chest because the fuckers camped the checkpoint. I was reading up on various builds since I don't really have a single target spell and opted for blast rain. AED+WED+Concentrated effect. Is this okay? or should I be using a different spell?

You grab life wherever you efficiently can on the skill tree and take damage nodes that just happen to be in the vicinity. Game is called Path of life nodes for a reason

You'll want to grab some notable damage nodes, but for the most part you pick a few key nodes that you want for your build and path around to those grabbing all the health and (good) defense nodes along the way. most of your damage comes from support gems and weapons, but getting some in the tree is nice too, you just don't want to gimp yourself defense wise. Creating a build can be tough especially for new players. Look at some build guides with leveling sections to get a better understanding of what nodes are important to take.

It was 100% increased at the time, not more.
Champion aura is 35% increased and not more, so it's fuckall. Champion gets a 20% more damage effect for 4 points if that's what you meant.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to write down my thoughts after having played this game for the past few days. I'm writing this both for myself as I enjoy doing this, for the subreddit in general as it might spark a healthy discussion, as for the devs as they might enjoy reading this.
I've played Diablo 3 religuously since it got released. I logged 4259 hours since the start which comes down to a tad over 3 hours a day. You know that Diablo activity fluctuates in a curve so you understand that during peak moments this average was a lot higher. I wouldn't call myself the perfect Diablo 3 player, but I know pretty much everything there is to know about the game, and I've placed myself in the top 100 of at least one leaderboard every season. With a full time job this isn't as easy as it sounds.
The view upon POE within the Diablo community is a lot healthier than the other way around, despite the Diablo community being a lot more toxic in general than this one seems to be. I always saw POE as the little crippled boy shouting "Look daddy I want to, but I can't!".
I got convinced to give Ascendancy a serious try by one of my best friends. He's an internet friend, but after years and years of being a gamer I simply consider them normal friends at this point.
The only point of this background information in the form of a wall of text is to sketch what type of player was entering the POE community. A quite knowledgeable ARPG player who didn't have the highest of hopes.

Your poison is getting a very tiny buff and overall, your damage is in Spectres, so it's just a mini buff.
