Farming skill level somewhat affects the quality of crops, as does fertilizer. Try to at least put down basic fertilizer if you really want to get that bundle finished in year 1, but chances are you won't actually be getting the Greenhouse until about halfway through year 2 anyway unless you're a Wiki autist.

Spoilers for cheese:You can change levels in the mines super quickly by dicking around with the elevator. Naturally, each time you come back it gives you a new version of the floor.
This may be me being superstitious, but I think elevator floors intentionally don't have good drops. So elevator to stops with no rocks/monsters, and go down a floor, exit if it's shit, repeat.
