Weather is clear, clouds building in Northern NK and over the Sea of Japan.
Package Intel - http://imgur.com/a/sSwPE

Flying F16CM Block 40 out of Osan
4 ship Preplan CAS - Cowboy 1(1 taken for me)
2 ship Escort - Shark 1

Possibly 1 or 2 more taken.

!WE WILL BE USING IVC AND """ATTEMPT""" TO USE REALISTIC BREVITY TERMS AND COMMS!

Teamspeak address where we will gather : memes.consulting (no really)
BE THERE AT 2145 GMT
Mission brief will start no later than 2200 GMT

Important:
You have to know the basics if you want to play. By basics, I mean you can fly, you can land, and you can use the radio. You also need to know how to shoot AIM120/ Drop bombs.(delete as appropriate)

LAST NOTE: I'm new at this, there will be fuck ups.
Let me know if you're down for this by leaving a (you) so i can know in advance if I need to up the playercount.

>>134955535
You're doing Gods work.

Maybe DCS ops should be organised in a similar fashion?
>>
>>134955794
I've been trying to convince people to do this for DCS, but we need to use a decent radio mod or something to filter out comms ( whisper lists? ), also you can't simply create a flight in DCS, you need to create a whole mission.
>>
>>134955535
Is IVC fixed? I'm totally ready to mess up the frequencies and broadcast on the wrong one
>>
>>134955932
>I've been trying to convince people to do this for DCS, but we need to use a decent radio mod or something to filter out comms ( whisper lists? ),
Yeah we've used whisper lists before, they're easy to set up and are ideal for aircraft like the '21 that only have 1 radio and are therefore shit with the radio mod.
Which works great, but is a small hassle to set up.
>also you can't simply create a flight in DCS, you need to create a whole mission.
True, but we've more and more people getting proficient with the editor recently. So that isn't as much of an issue as it once was.

>>134956252
Would you pay 60$ for a dynamic campaign like BMS has?
>>
>>134955535
Who are the "possibly taken slots" reserved for?
>>
>>134956739
Probably not, it would have to be a lot better than the BMS campaign for me to pay any serious amount of money. The only thing in the BMS campaign I'm a *huge* fan of is the unpredictability and continuity from mission to mission, but that can be done in DCS with scripts. ED would have to go the extra mile with things like involved CAS missions for a paid DC to be worth it to me.

I did an amazing pseudo-HOTAS setup in IL-2:1946 that doesn't even need head tracking. Works with shitty joysticks as long as it fits in left hand. Attack3 in my case, doesn't even have a hat. It's so cheap yet worked so well, I'm kinda proud. :3
- Mouse in right hand, joystick in left.
- Mouse look.
- Scroll wheel is throttle.
- Other joystick and mouse buttons as needed. (protip: bind fov for zoom too)
- ???
- Profit.

I use this setup in DCS too but too bad it doesn't work as good. Can't bind most of my mouse buttons and can't do scroll wheel throttle either. I think DCS needs an alternative method of clickable cockpit: mouse look with crosshair in the middle of the screen being the clicking part.

https://strawpoll.me/7039033/r

Results are pretty conclusive at this point.

/simg/ largely prefers third gen jets, with almost half the votes going towards this choice.

FC3 planes, aka fighter gen 4.5 comes in at a second place with fourth gen coming in third.

What we can deduct from this is that people like the modern-ish combat loadouts, that is, missiles, guided munition, etc. but does not like too much automation.

The ideal simg fighter plane it seems is something that has limited or hard to use bvr capability, is multirole capable (A/G, A/A) and requires you use your eyes a lot.

From what I can tell, people who are into prop planes either like WW1 biplanes ála Rise of Flight or they like the WW2 powerhouses like the Stuka, Spitfire, etc.

There isn't really a generational difference that is comparable to radar / no radar, or what kind of bvr capability you want. The difference between jet fighter gens are just bigger.

Most of the modern flight development also happened when jet engines were already a thing. Prop planes are sort of the infancy stage.

The big divider in opinions are usually things that were developed between gen 3 and 4/5.

>>134986031
>There isn't really a generational difference that is comparable to radar / no radar
Compare the performance of shit like the DH2 to the SE5, or early 109 variants to late ones. There is a difference. It may not be as blatant as the difference between gen2 and gen3, but it's definitely there.

And to me it seems that us propfags tend to have preferences in specific WW2 theaters. I sure like the Mediterranean and the Battle of Britain better than the Eastern front, which I find fucking boring.

What the fuck kind of formation is that. You've got F-14s flying line abreast with 10 mile separation?

How well does BMS run on toasters? I know it's based on an ancient game but I also don't know if all the modding has increased system requirements a lot. I'm spending the week at home and I didn't feel like hauling my desktop but I did bring my hotas. I have my underpowered ultrabook with me and I know there's no way it'll run DCS, so maybe I could install BMS instead and finally try that out.

I'm pretty excited about carriers being added and all these cool Navy aircraft. Are Slavs getting anything comparable though or are they just going to be flying shitty FC3 SFM Su-33s off of their brand new shiny Kuznetsov?
>>
>>134996419
FC3 aircraft are current getting an overhaul.
>>
>>134996419
Slavs are getting jack shit because they never had a proper navy air force. Out of my mind the only carrier capable shit the slavs have are su-27k's, su-33's and mig-29k's and some su-25 trainer.

Yeah the Su-33 is due for AFM but that's about it, isn't it? I thought giving all the FC3 jets a 6DOF cockpit and a proper flight model was the entire overhaul, they're not going to make them full-on high quality modules like the rest of the aircraft in DCS.

Just buy the FC3 package first, they're simplified and worth more than buying the FC3 planes individually.

Simplified as in the systems are not full fidelity, you don't get clickable cockpits.

Though all FC3 aircraft are on the same level as the 25T, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Alright, I just purchased it.

Also, how important is a head tracking setup? I'm assuming I don't really need it since I'm playing pretty casually.

If I make a mission where we play as the Insurgents, would everyone be okay with this as the plane list? I would add the ZA version of the L-39 from another applicable country too to make it more bearable. Plus maybe MiG-21s and an Su-25A or 2 for people who don't have the planes listed?
