If you went long enough not talking to him it would negate the bonuses.
You need to make sure to also talk to him on those days, it's a separate trigger from just giving the gift, so you should earn +100 for giving a favorite gift.
If you were only just giving the gift, and then leaving, it would be 78 points for the day (+80 gift, -2 not talking for the day), so after a month of gifting that would only be a single heart.
I'm glad he's finally showing recognition, but I wish he'd talk to me like a normal human being rather than always demanding I donate hard-earned artifacts.

Even the post-bouquet but pre-marriage parts need to be revamped, right now it's just a retarded way of gating heart level progression so you don't cheat on your wife during other bachelors' 10-heart events, mechanics-wise your relationship is still shallow and one-dimensional, they still spend most of their time doing their own shit and hanging out in their usual places waiting for you to arrive with gifts. Better get ready to do everything, because they're certainly not going to do anything at all.
And let's not even mention that your wife's parent(s), relative(s), etc. are completely oblivious to the fact they've moved out and quite possibly already have grandchildren.

The mines do have more treasure, every 10 floors I think.
Be careful though, there can be unexpected difficulty spikes. If your health reaches 0 in the mines you'll wake up at the entrance, with 2/3 of your inventory gone and having "forgotten" the last 8/9 levels. (That's what happened to me, at least)
Also, be sure to watch the time, if you aren't using an indoor-time-stopping mod.

It's most definitely worth buying, this dev deserves it. CF does sadly take a share of the sales, though I've heard if you buy it off GOG they don't. But yeah, this guy released an actual game with content and not a half assed alpha like CF did with Starbound. I started the game with terrible planning too and here's how it is now, summer of year 2.
